Senon’s Masonry

This was our 2^nd time working with Senon.
The brick planters around our front trees were falling apart after 20 years, and we wanted something more contemporary. We discussed some design ideas, and agreed on a stained concrete design.
The end result looks great. Senon has good design ideas, and goes really nice work.
We’re happy with his work and the finished product.

Senon was great. We wanted a flagstone walkway, patio, and fireplace, for our backyard. We had an idea of what we wanted but Senon used his experience and expertise to design a great setup.
The job was done quickly and the guys were precise. I would recommend Senon to anyone looking for a great patio, fireplace, or walkway.

Wrote a 10K estimate for less than 463 sq ft of tile installation. That includes tile that’s 3.99 a sq. ft. That’s 2K for the tile, 8K for the labor. Literally a WTF moment. I think because Austin is booming, contractors can be idiots and get away with it.

I called several Austin area masons for a quote on a raised vegetable bed for my back yard. Senon is prompt, courteous, and lays your options out for you. He also gave me a quote far under what others gave me, so his pricing is competitive.
The work that Senon and his crew did is outstanding, and I’d recommend him to anyone in the Austin area looking to have high quality, reasonably priced masonry work done. He was also able to acquire stone material that is an exact match for my building.
My project was a small scale, half day job. He was able to work me into his schedule about ten days after I accepted his bid. For larger projects, he might need more notice. I’m not sure if he accepts credit cards, but he does accept checks.

Who knows what kind of work they do.
I arranged for a half dozen different contractors to come by my house and give me quotes on various projects.
Senon was the only one who committed and didn’t show.

Good old Austin behavior: say yes, and then don’t show up. Thanks for making me take time off work for nothing.

We came to Senon to undo a mess of a job that someone else started. It was clear from the start that Senon was an artist and a mason. He built a beautiful pool deck and quickly understood what we were looking for, got our approval and went above and beyond our expectations. He added one garden that went with the flow of the pool design and had additional ideas for a gazebo area that was more shaded. We continued in the front of the house with a walkway and more gardens. He exceeded our expectations on all accounts and I enjoy looking out over our backyard and pool area every minute. Senon is well worth the wait!

We found Senon’s Masonry by chance through an internet search and couldn’t be happier with the end result!
Senon and his crew fixed a crack in our existing concrete patio and then covered the whole thing with Oklahoma Stone. The patio is about a foot thick, and I was a bit concerned about what they were going to do with the sides which are lined with bushes and not easily accessible. My worries were for nothing because they covered the sides without a problem. They also removed/​hauled away the 12×12 wooden deck off our bedroom and built a new stone patio to replace it.
The work was high quality, completed in a timely manner, and reasonably priced. I will definitely call on Senon’s Masonry for any future projects.

Senon rebuilt two long areas of a limestone retaining wall. The previous mason didn’t know how to built a wall to last. Senon oversaw the baterring (wall sloping inward on upper layers) and overall construction. We had large agave that the crew had to avoid. They did a good job of avoiding the plants we said were important to us. Senon had to purchase extra stone and gave out to usa for a fair price. He also had to purchase and add crushed granite at his cost. We are very pleased and hope we will not need to use the 2 year warranty.

Senon is a true PRO. He built us an elevated rock patio and walks around both sides of the house. He is a pleasure to work with and I would hire him again for any Masonry needs. I will gladly recommend him to family and friends.

Small businesses often have delays due to personal issues or equipment failures. These delays caused our project to take longer than originally planned. Also the project design changed more than once which meant we never knew exactly how the project would be finished out. The price was reasonable and competitive. A larger company would have been more expensive but probably faster.

I am hard to please when it comes to contractors. So, I always get several quotes and check ratings on google, Unilocal,and Angie’s list. After my research, I decided Senon would be one of four contractors to provide a quote. Senon was the only one who listened and took the time to fully understand the key elements of our goal. He provided a detailed quote on time. He wasn’t the cheapest, but was in the ballpark (10%) and was by far not the most expensive. However, his design suggestions and his knowledge about materials made me feel very comfortable. Plus, he’s a very likable guy.
I selected Senon to do about $ 11,000 worth of stone work. His crew respected my property and were polite to my dogs and 2 year old son. Senon was on site a lot and always met me at the property to discuss the job when requested. He will take your calls or call you back quickly. Very easy to communicate with. The end result was better than we had expected. His price was spot on, no additional charges or hidden charges.
I have recommended Senon to a few friends already and would use him again without hesitation. I give him an A+. Be detailed when telling him what you want and he will make it happen. Don’t be afraid to turn over some parts of the project to his good judgement, he has plenty.
Senon is talented and has a good crew behind him.

We bought a nice new house with a not so nice, boring box of a backyard that we wanted to spruce up a bit by adding a space for outdoor dining and a fire bowl. We wanted to be able to use it soon because it was mid-​Spring and insufferable heat was soon on the way. Fortunately, Senon responded quickly to a request for an estimate to build a small flagstone patio that I envisioned. He came the next day, on time, looked it over with me and made some good suggestions, and then was able to schedule the work for early the following week once I said yes to his estimate that he sent the day after the consult. It was very easy to work with him throughout and he was conscientious about notifying me when he couldn’t come for a couple of days due to a personal issue (not a problem). We’re very happy with the work he did, and the whole process was super-​smooth. Plus, as another reviewer pointed out, he’s just a really nice guy. So hire him already!

Since we moved into our house in S. Austin, we had limped along with no outdoor living space for 3 years. We were limited to only a small 12’x15’ concrete slab as a back porch — barely enough to contain my BBQ pit and gas grill. As a family, we enjoy the outdoors… A LOT — but 2011 is the year we finally got the outdoor living space we deserved.
I was referred to Senon’s Masonry by some neighbors that had some rock work done. I liked the work, but wanted to see more.
After contacting Senon Castelan, he took me to 3 more jobs he recenty completed, and the quality of the work looked quite good.
After quoting 3 other contractors, I decided to go with Senon to execute the ambitious plan I designed.
The more I talked with Senon about the design, the options, and how I could stay within my budget — the more impressed I became. While my 2D design was ‘directionally correct’, Senon demonstrated the vision needed to bring this design to life. In 3D. In stone. Within code. He made many practical suggestions on materials, proportions, and usability that enhanced design. Senon impressed us with his design acumen, his attention to detail and quality, and his communication.
Due to VERY COLD weather, our job s-​t-​r-​e-​t-​c-​h-​e-​d out longer than both of us wanted. Senon made a point to cal me on a regular basis to ensure that we were BOTH happy and informed («We’ll be there tomorrow AM» — or «Here is what you can expect»). He demonstrated one of the best communication skills of any contractor I have ever worked with. In addition, he is an Austinite born and bred = Bowie HS grad in fact!
Throughout the job, and he demanded that the work site was both safe AND clean at the end of each day. All of this was provided at a fair price that I felt was a good value compared to others.
In summary, great design + great execution + great quality + great value = The back yard of our dreams! Thanks to Senon’s Masonry!
