Scofield Park at Austin Apartments

I’ve lived here for about three months, and the only real positives are the location, cost, and facilities. Even then, the positives have negative twists: for example, I was told that I’d have to put a $ 600 deposit down just to rent out the conference room for one night, which I was told was available to me for free during my tour of the complex.
The staff will constantly try to gouge you for extra money through hidden fees and are extremely incompetent. The result of their incompetence is normally reflected in your balance due online, as they CAN AND WILL add any fees they can think of. This may sound redundant, but I cannot overemphasize how greedy this complex can be.
There have also been quite a few instances of the police knocking on our doorstep asking about our neighbors, as well as neighbors outside of the complex actually threatening and attacking residents and their pets.
A few positives are that the complex has (so far) been fairly groomed, although the pool isn’t cleaned regularly and the gym’s AC doesn’t work (which will not be pleasant in the summer.)
In short, be wary of this complex. It may look appealing, but painted trash is still trash.

I have lived here for 5.5 years. This is the longest I have lived at a residence since I was a child. The office staff are delightful and really want to do everything they can to make your living experience pleasant. I recently left my garage door remote out of town on accident. I called the office staff and she said she would call maintenance and call me back. This was at like 4 and maintenance staff finishes at 5 and I was still 30 minutes away. The office called me back within 3 minutes and said to call them when I was back at my apartment. I got back to the apartment and the office staff had maintenance there in less than 5 minutes.
The maintenance staff is also outstanding. Very polite and professional. They also clean up after themselves so well that you wouldn’t even know they were there.
I live on the 2^nd floor so there is someone above me. Yeah sometimes he’s loud but it never lasts ridiculously long. You have to accept some of that in an apartment complex. Some of my neighbors in my building and in the building next to me have lived here for years as well and we greet each other. As long as the rent stays within my price range, I can see myself living here for another 5.5 years.

I’m having a pleasant experience so far and just renewed my lease. Things were a little shaky when we first moved in with paperwork mix up but the office employees are so pleasant and the management is great. They own their mistakes and work things out instead of blaming residents. They upkeep the property. Maintenance team is great. They have good community events. Much better than the apartment I lived in before this one.

Pros: Proximity to shopping, high-​tech corporations, and the train station at Howard makes it a very convenient location. I’m currently about 15 minutes from downtown Austin, 10 minutes from Round Rock, 5 minutes from the Domain, and about 15 minutes from Lakeline Mall.
The staff are mostly pleasant and the do what they can, which isn’t a lot, about noise complaints and maintenance issues.
I had the option to rent an apartment with an attached garage, which has been a life-​saver considering how everyone else has parking issues.
Cons-​a-​plenty: Where, oh where to begin … Deep breath. Here it goes.
— Structural integrity: Honestly, this place has been decaying quite badly over the past few years. The first warning sign I should’ve paid attention to was when, after only two months after I signed my lease, the property management company, AMLI, sold this location to Fairfield Properties. Look, a company like AMLI doesn’t sell a property with this location unless there is a problem. After years of steam cleaning the carpets (every year and in between residents), all of the floors have been weakened and warped. So a moderately heavy neighbor, no matter how light-​of-​foot they are, will cause all sorts of groans and creaks whenever they walk. Insulation decays and goes bad after a couple of decades, so you get to hear your Madea-​wanna-​be neighbor yelling at her unmarried, single-​mother daughter and her kids all the time. Also, this means that your apartment becomes energy inefficient. My bills have steadily climbed since I got here.
— Neighbors: Well, what can I say. There are people who make great neighbors in the worst of circumstances, and there people who make terrible neighbors in even the best of circumstances. When I first moved in, most of my neighbors were professionals and older couples. It was a quiet neighborhood, and Dixie, the AMLI manager, was hell-​bent on making sure it stayed that way. Then Erica and Fairfield took over. I started seeing more students and multi-​generational families moving into these cramped quarters. What can I say? Students in general are just terrible people. We can hope that college will help them be better, but then again, these kids are going to ACC … so… On to the next type of neighbor: Multi-​generational families, ergo grandmothers raising their children’s children, are a bit of a problem. The fact that these «failures to launch» are living with their parents in a cramped apartment is bad enough, but grandma is getting another chance to fail at raising yet another generation. Additionally, you have people who just moved out of the trailer park, and they’re moving on up in society and they’ve got themselves a fancy new «luxury» apartment. «Hey family! Come on up on the weekends and bring everyone with them. We can bask in my success and you can let your kids jump off of my furniture onto the floor. It’ll be a great time.» Or, «Hey girl, come on over for a boxed wine party. Wear your highest heels. We can stand in the kitchen telling stories and stomping our feet when we laugh.» … Oh, and please don’t bother telling these up-​and-​comers that the walls and floors are thin. It’ll only exacerbate the situation, no matter how nice you are about it. After years of complaining about this to the management, one of the staffers confided that many of these people aren’t smart enough to know that if they don’t pay their rent, they’ll be evicted. (I’m paraphrasing, of course. But you get the point. All it takes is one idiot per building to ruin it for everyone else.) Speaking of management, the previous manager made herself known to all of the residents. But Erica, the current manager, is a ghost. I saw her once when she first took over, and I haven’t seen her since. It’s possible that she knows what kind of money-​pit she’s running and just hides under her desk every day.
— Gym: The weight machines haven’t been maintained in probably a decade. They haven’t even bothered oiling the cable pulleys, so if you think you’re bench-​pressing 150lbs, it actually feels like about 300. The elliptical machine reminds me of something they might’ve used as a torture device in Medieval Europe. It’s a bit of a deathtrap. It’s kind of hard to screw up dumbbells, but they’re kind of useless when they don’t come in pairs. Someone has absconded with a few of them.
— Nearby neighborhood: Lamplight Village is next door and Wells Branch is right up the road. If you’re a jogger, just be careful of where you jog near here. I recommend jogging in the early morning hours before the crack dealers wake up. There are some nicer parts of those neighborhoods, but they’re overshadowed by the dilapidated streets and houses.
Summary: Yes, management still bills this place as a «Luxury Apartment Community,» but that’s bollocks. I mean, sure, compared to Billy Bob’s Section 8 Trailer Park, it’s luxurious. … Perhaps I just don’t have the right perspective.

I am in the apartment locating business and also a 1 year resident of Scofield Park. I can tell you that this community has one of the best management/​maintenance teams for this price point. I wish I had time to list all the examples of excellent customer service I received during my residency, but for now I will give you the short list of pros and cons:
Pros:
1. The gates always work. There were a few occasions when the gates malfunctioned or someone ran into them, but they had them fixed in 1 – 2 days.
2. Spacious floor plans. Island kitchens, unique layouts, closet space, outside storage, lots of cabinets (I live in the 1093 sqft ²⁄₂).
3. Excellent maintenance manager and staff. Stacey is absolutely wonderful and took the time to come to my apartment personally to make sure my washer/​dryer were working properly. When my AC went out, the maintenance staff on call offered to come out in the middle of the night to get it working because it was hot outside. I also see them constantly picking up litter, dog poop from lazy owners, and doing whatever they can to maintain a tidy appearance and keep the community running smoothly.
4. The office staff is my favorite part of living here. Meleia, Ken, Lauren, and Erika are always on top of everything and ready to help when I ask. Even when they are stressed out or dealing with a difficult resident they are still smiling and don’t let it ruin their day.
5. The bills are LOW! The electric in my 2 bedroom ranges from $ 59-​$ 108, the water has never been over $ 24, the gas never over $ 23, and the trash and pest control are only $ 11 total.
Now for the cons (none of them are deal breakers for me)
1. Parking is tight around some buildings. Solution: covered parking is only $ 20 extra and is totally worth every penny.
2. The ceilings squeak when the people above me walk around.
Overall I’ve had a very pleasant experience at Scofield Park and I will be sad when I have to leave. Hope this helps! :)

We have lived at Scofield Park at Austin for two years now. The prices are very reasonable, but high enough to attract «the respectful, have to wake up early for work neighbors», instead of «the party all night, no consideration for others neighbors.»
The floorplan is constructed very well. The island in the kitchen and walk in closets attached to the bedrooms were exactly what I had in mind when finding the perfect apartment. Plus, the clubhouse is great! I rent it out at least a few times a year for gatherings.
I love being a block from the Domain and other conveniently located shops.
The staff is friendly and have wonderful customer service. The maintenance team is great about resolving issues in a timely manner and very friendly as well.
We searched for a few weeks before finding this complex and I instantly fell in love with it upon touring. I had a complete checklist of what I wanted in an apartment and luckily Scofield Park at Austin fit all my requirements.

I have lived in these apartments for a year and planning on moving out next week. Since last summer we started noticing that the ac unit was leaking into the bathroom wall and have called them to fix the issue at least 10 times in the last year. Every time someone came and cleaned it and after a couples weeks it was the same or even worse than before. Yesterday i woke up to the ceiling in my bathroom completely colapsed, brown water running all over my walls and black mold exposed. I have been paying 1300 a month for an apartment that for a year couldnt fix a simple problem and now the whole bathroom is ruined. The apartment managers are snobs, they dont help at all, the pool its always dirty… All and all dont move here… For the price you can find a much better apartment or home… Trust me i just found one !!

I have lived here for almost 3 months and well, no place is ever perfect. But good customer service makes a huge difference. On my first visit here, I spoke with kenn and he has made this whole moving experience very friendly and easy. One of those ppl who always remember you name and will greet you when you walk in to pick up a package or do their best to help when you have problems.
In these months, I agree with earlier statements that parking can be packed right in front of the complex but there are always spots within walking distance.
Yes the ceiling can be thin but I think that comes with living in most apartments. Thankfully, my neighbor isn’t too rowdy (which makes me very thankful I live far away from UT)
I had a bug problem (I think it’s because I live right next to a large tree and leave the door open for my dog to go outside) but when I told staff about this issue, they made an appointment with exterminator that week and offered to change my weatherstrip on the bottom of the door. Bug problem gone!
Overall, this apartment complex isn’t perfect but it has nice amenities, comfortable to live in, and the staff is very helpful in fixing any issues. I love the open layout of the floor plan. I love the lighting, Eco-​friendly lighting, and pet-​friendliness. I highly recommend this place!

I have lived in these apartments for a year now and I can safely say that this is the best apartment complex that I have lived in my 8 years here at Austin. The friendly customer service. peacefulness. beauty. is unmatched by any other apartment complex. They are quick to fix anything and always accommodating! I love this place!

I have lived here for one month and in that month I have realized that though the rent is slightly higher than most other places in the area that is not a deterrent for ghetto rats to set up in the complex. Between smoking (cheap) pot enough it infiltrates down into my apartment, throwing beer cans off their balcony, and the dismal enforcement of towing in paid parking spaces (Park your ugly crap hoopty elsewhere!) of which I pay for two near my building, and the lack luster response to maintenance requests (I don’t speak enough Spanish to explain what is wrong and I shouldn’t have to.) I have become painfully disenchanted by this complex. The next 11 months can not fly by fast enough for my liking. This place is a Monet. Pretty from a distance but an utter mess of blobular crap up close. Just don’t bother. Also don’t let the luxury apartment claim fool you. It’s the same cheap appliances, crappy cabinetry, craptastic plastic counters, thin walls, and standard short life carpet as any other low cost complex out there. For paying a grand a month for an apartment my size I expected a little more than track lighting and fans recycled from the eighties and the same laminate plastic cabinet doors they used in mobile holes three decades ago. Not worth the money, and out of the front office few even give a rat’s flying patootie about the residents. Don’t even bother with Jeremiah, he is so disingenuous and transparent that unless you’re blonde and blue with huge knockers he won’t give two craps about anything you need. He’ll feed you platitudes and then let it just slip to the ether.

My Fiancé & I just moved out of these apartments about a month ago, and could not have asked for a better experience from beginning to end. If they offered units with a yard we probably would have stayed longer. The staff and employees were all great! When our friends and family came over we constantly got compliments on our layout of the apartment. It was a very open layout. My fiancé has lived in several other apartments, and this was my first time living in an apartment, and we have no complaints.
The rec center was great, and the pool was never over crowded with people. Parking was never a problem (we had reserved covered parking which i recommend to future residents) and the other tenants were friendly.
I would recommend this complex to all of my family and friends.

I have lived here for almost a year now and love it!!! Very nice and spacious layouts! I love that they have garage for storage!!! If something needs to be fixed they do it in a timely manner! I would recommend this place to anyone!

Cons: Parking sucks. Atleast once a week I have to park about two blocks from my apt. I’ve lived here for 3 months and there’s constant construction, walls are thin and I can hear the upstairs guy walking and even his phone ringing. Old water pipes make loud noise when neighbors flush/​use their sink. There’s a $ 500 deposit, paint is cheap and scratches/​peels with normal cleaning (hopefully they don’t try to charge for this but I read that they will). They don’t notify you when people are coming into your apartment. Three times I have come home to find that they had «tested my smoke alarm» or worked on a maintenance request that was a month old. They are raising my rent $ 160 at renewal time. These are definitely not the «luxury apartments» that they say they are.
Pros:safe, close to shops and major highways, quiet outside, some units have washer and dryers
nice rec and fitness
like this place more if I didn’t live underneath anyone and could ensure my neighbors were quiet. because the walls are THIN.
