This is the worst place i have ever been in my life. I booked the room on
I paid $ 196 for one night. Once I got there they said there was no rooms non-​smoking and in addition to the amount already paid i needed to leave $ 50 deposit in case something happen to the room. We could not spend the night there so we left and the front desk person was notified and showed him pics of all the things. The room was absolutely dirty. Smells terrifying, the TV didn’t work, the bed sheets were dirty, the bathroom has dirty towels with hair. The carpet was disgusting and extremely old. DON’T STAY HERE. I lost $ 196 because if you buy through Hotwire they don’t refund the stay no matter the reason. For that amount you could stay in a much better place At least that is cleaner.

All in all decent room. Smelled like fresh paint or similar, which is better than a lot of things it could have smelled of. Cable TV worked for crap but that was between Time Warner and the hotel, according to the front desk. 3 pillows per king a bonus. Had to keep signing into wifi, as often as once every 10 mins.

This hotel locked us out of our room with our belongings in it to extort more money from us.
We reserved a two-​bed room for three of us for two nights. (Three people, two beds, one room.) After leaving and coming back on the second morning we returned to find out our keys were deactivated. When we went to the front desk to ask why, the woman behind the counter rudely informed us that we would be kept from our belongings until we payed her more money — claiming we only booked the room for 1 person. When we pulled out the receipt from the previous night — wholly proving we booked for three people she ACTUALLY REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT (I guess she doesn’t like being caught in a lie?) It wasn’t until we threatened to call the police that she reactivated our cards for a «one time entry». 10 extorted dollars later the three of us got our belongings back. Our room also has; a toilet that leaks all over the floor and stains all over the place — walls, floors, even the beds.
The stairs leading up to the second floor are broken, literally missing the landing and some steps. It looks like they started to repair it but just kind of neglected to finish.
This Rodeway Inn is a scam. Never stay here if you value your belongings or like to be treated fairly.

The most disgusting hotel ever! Sheets were dirty, there was a pee on the bathroom floors. They asked for $ 50 deposit when it was fully paid for. Unprofessional, dirty, disgusting! Never, ever will go there again!!!

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! This horrible place is closing down in 6 months. We stayed at this dilapidated Rodeway Inn last night to our horror. We stayed in room 222 the room stank like the inside of an old shoe. I had to prop the window open with a coat hanger. It would not stay open otherwise. There was a potato chip bag between the bed and the night stand. One of the beds had pocket lint and a discoloration on the sheets. Also the tissue box fell out of the wall when you removed a tissue. Last night there was no hot water so showers were a no go. Just when you need to take a shower. Ice cold water was not going to cut it. This morning I went to the sink to check if there was hot water and low and behold there was. That was at 7 a.m. I open the shower curtain and to my amazement I saw surgical gauze taped over the shower head and over the tub filler wrapped in masking tape. I tried turning the water on I couldn’t get the water to come out of the shower head. I assumed that it was broken. In desperation I remove the masking tape from the top played with a lover I couldn’t get the water to come out the shower head but after playing with it eventually the water did come out and I was able to take a shower. Looking at the shower I could see how clean the tub was and I realized that previous guests probably gave up on it and never used it for so long that I must have been the first person in a very long time to ever ever taken a shower in here.
The smell in the room was intense with the window open. I woke up with a clogged nose. I am alergic to mold. I suspect the airfilter has years of debris and with the humidity here it could be prone to fungal growth. This is only my opinion. Shame on Rodeway Inn. I’m going back to the Marriott.

Laid ON TOP of the bed and within 5 minutes started getting a rash. There were visible hairs and pieces of brilla wire (the kind crackheads use to smoke crack) spread out all over the comforter & the toilet seat had pubic hair on it. After complaining to the owner he sent the maid down & would not personally accept liability. No apology and then he presumed to call us liars.
FILTHY ROOMS & ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!

I have stayed here multiple times and will again in the future! I was a nursing student and needed to be close to St. David’s Hospital (which is right next door, you could walk there!). It looks like a small, older, Mom and Pop Motel but, it will suit your needs nicely! It has a small parking lot and sits right next to I-​35. I felt very safe every time I stayed there and that’s important when I travel alone, I’m a scaredy-​cat country girl. It’s super clean, the shower and tub shine more than mine do at home! The carpet is updated, I can’t stand hotels that make your socks dirty! !
Every room I had came with a 4-​cup coffee pot, a microwave and refrigerator. All of those came in handy for the long hours of studying. They had a work table, alarm clock and nice TV, those came in handy for late night hours of writing papers AND taking breaks!
No, the mattresses are not a new Serta Pillow Top, if that’s what you need, it’s not here. The pillows are nice and fluffy and the linens on the new side, all pluses for me! I’m not used to all the traffic noise but I put the AC on continuous fan and that drowned it out. The AC will freeze you out of there, I like it cold but at 60, it was chilly!
So, not sure if you want to plan a week and bring the family or, you just need what I needed within my price range but, it works for me and I’ll be back. The location is perfect for downtown or anything to do with St David’s, You’re mid-​town and can go North or South really easily.
Check it out, it’s not the Marriot but if you want clean, safe and affordable this is it!

Definitely, it’s one of the worst hotel in the united state. Noisy, small, and smelly!

Update: back at the old, reliable Rodeway. Everything still the same, older motel, friendly staff takes care of any minor problems that may arise. I was preemptively moved from a room just in case a water leak developed in the room above me (which never happened) as plumbers were on the way to do the repairs. Solid two-​star motel.

Really, they do about the bare minimum on everything and it shows. It’s really just a few steps above sleeping in a car. While the location in relation to the school and city center is good, this inn has little else going for it. The breakfast is was not a breakfast by any definition. The staff had a poor attitude. The rooms weren’t dirty, but they weren’t clean either. I wouldn’t condemn this place, but I wouldn’t recommend it either.

Pro:
Not too bad and you can find it on Priceline. On to my next destination.
Con:
There may be a WiFi advertised and even an access point showing up, but that’s it. Bring your own Internet if you need to get any work done!

This hotel is very well located — on I-​35, less than a mile from UT Austin, and about a mile from downtown Austin. I was able to stay there for $ 60, although that rate may have been a result of me booking at the last minute. It’s shaped as a tall U, which makes it feel protected, small, and comfy — I was surprised at how quiet it was despite its proximity to the freeway. The room was stocked with a high quality refrigerator, microwave, iron, ironing board, coffeemaker, and hair dryer. The AC works very well (which is an important thing in a hot city like Austin), as does the free wi-​fi. The sheets seemed to be of higher quality than your typical bargain hotel. I loved the Mediterranean feel of the laminate in the bathroom — I imagined it was an addition by the current owners. I had already decided to use this hotel as my permanent good deal, great location hotel in Austin from this point on for all of these reasons… and then I found out that I had been able to check in at 3am the night before (my flight was delayed) because the owner made sure he was available for me to honor my reservation (even though I never called to tell him I’d be checking in three hours later than I’d said earlier in the day). That’s unusually outstanding service. I love hotels that are well managed bargains!
For more picky travelers, be aware that the AC was a little loud, the channels available on the TV seemed spotty (although at least 20 channels worked), and the shower took ten minutes to get hot although it was warm right off. I lived in Austin for over ten years, and the location is fine for walking around during the day — but you might run into unsavories at night.

i LOVE atx & i usually stay with friends when visiting but things change and we all grow up and some have families… so my boyfriend & i was in town for my bff’s baby shower and we stayed here… NEVER AGAIN! i mean, i’ve stayed at roach motels before and i’m not picky or high maintenance but this place was pretty bad and at nearly 80 bucks a night during non-​peak season, i think we could have done better…
–carpet was dirty with lots of mystery stains & small dead bugs
–lots of hair found in the tub that didn’t properly drain (probably from all that hair)
–baseboards dirty & moldy
–the one arm chair in our room had animal hair stuck to it & was flipped over to hide it
–the bed sheets & comforter were scary as hell, used my own blankets
–the pool didn’t look functional & in fact the water was green from algae (this was in august mind you)
–parking sucked, when the little lot filled up you had to park what seemed like it was off site
the only good thing was the giant texas shaped waffles that were free, which i didn’t eat b/​c if the rooms were this dirty, i questioned the hygiene in which the batter for the waffles were prepared and then the location was good, it’s off of 35 & really close to downtown… the end.

I am actually writing this review from within the horror that is Rodeway Inn.
I am in Austin on business and this dump fit within the allocated budget. Had I known what was to come, I would have gladly paid out of pocket for something nicer. Let’s see…
Had to change rooms 3 times: first time cause the clerk COULDN’T OPEN THE DOOR, second because the room he offered smelled like an asstray (Yes. I wrote ASStray) 3^rd one is on the lower level, which i didn’t even know existed.
Hot water leaves a weird ‘sheen’ on your body. I almost slipped numerous times, but grabbed the support bar bolted to the side of the shower. (wonder if that is there because it’s cheaper than fixing the hot water heater?)
House keeping has cleaned the room every other day.
Morning breakfast consists of Folgers coffee and Costco pastries and famous TX shaped waffle maker.
One star for the employees at least trying. One star for decent internet access.
But I am getting too old for this sh*t.

If you have no idea of what the term «Slumming it» means, then go and book a room here to find out. The place is not that great for what you pay. I would say it’s mediocre at best. But not all that. 72 bucks a night on a non peak season weekend? You gotta be serious. I stayed at the roach motel 6 and they had better rooms. My friend decided to book this room since originally I had thought about the Austin Motel and the San Jose. His first comments were «Those motels are for tourists, couples, and trendy sheeple… No…Let’s not go there» So the Rodeway Inn was to be it for the weekend… The rooms were not that decrepit but not that much from it. The chairs were dirty and on had a stain on it which was apparently visible. the carpets were a little dingy, the bed spreads were a cheese yellow with weird Aztec patterns. The bath water was a little too murky but I guess if I had no other choice I would live with it. Basically what you get is a roof over your head, a hot shower, a comfy bed, TV, Microwave, Fridge… Well, I retract my earlier rant a little for a minute here. I want to like this place because the location is actually top notch for the price. You are biking distance from downtown and I am not talking distance ala Lance Armstrong here. It’s right off of 30^th street on the UT campus side of I-​35. We stayed here and did not have to drive once to get where we wanted to go. So I will say that for the location, the price was just right. You see I am trying to discourage enough people to go here that way when I go back I have a guaranteed room to stay in while in Austin. This place is a good choice to «Slum It» Oh and make sure that you tell them NOT to put a motel room right above you with 20 high school kids pounding around all night. Other than that it was cool.

This is the place for you if you are an up-​and-​coming South by Southwest band and you miss your nights in the Roach Motel.
The stars are for ambiance, NOT facilities. The black Astroturf® is peeling and there were empty candy wrappers in my room. But there are also high end features like excellent wireless, free newspapers, and a free breakfast in the lobby with 50s furniture where you can make your own Texas shaped waffles! (Using one of those rotating waffle irons, not the 50s furniture.)
BTW, this place is so weird Google Maps can’t find it. To get here come up 30^th st then turn south on the I-​35 service road. If you go down Cole, the road Google wants you to take, you are in for a potentially scary surprise.

Unfortunately I stayed here on my first visit to Austin. There was a big UT game in town and this was just about all that was available in a central location. Yes, I called Austin Motel & the San Jose, but foolishly I was not paying attention to sports schedules prior to booking. Here are the surprises I got when I arrived. Big Cockroaches on the floor, c’mon how hard is is to a little vacuuming before someone arrives. No and I mean no hot water. To top it off I came back from a busy day of house hunting needing to use the ladies room & had been locked by the master key out of the room. When i went to the front desk the desk clerk said that they must have accidental checked me out. I said thats weird, since I had PAID for 2 more days. No apologies for anything made on their part. Highly un-​recommended. The moral of the story is book early when coming to Austin & check UT’s football schedule first, because if they are playing Oklahoma you are going to need to book really early. That’s what I get for knowing nothing about sports.
