I been there once. I really don’t like the feel of it and plus they are a bit slow. I tend to go eat at the other restaurant in the same shopping center.

Don’t be put off by the renovations going on. This place is BOMB! Ordered the(seollongtang, oz bone soup) and the(dweji gogi, spicy pork) and both were amazing! It was like I was transported back to Korea. Was served a plethora of(banchan, side dishes) and they were all so delicious! I will definitely go back again and try more~

My husband went there looking for ribs and he said pork. They sent him away. It was beef ribs I wanted. When he went back they laughed at him. How horrible is that? Bad people, bad business.

My family really enjoyed eating here! We ordered a bunch of food from the menu and they were really pleased with it. This may not be the most authentic Korean restaurant around town but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste good!

This restaurant is owned by Korean people who are kind of racist? The owners are nice to everyone, but they’re even nicer to their own kind. If I hadn’t gone with my Korean friend, he mentioned that they don’t give extras or anything to Americans lol. The Korean fried wings were good, but Chi’lantros still has better wings. KFC hot&spicy: 3.5÷5 — I got tired of them after 3 wings Spicy pork: 2⁄5 — too oily and not very flavorful Service as I said before is okay. They only come when you ask for something.

The service is terrible. The rice is so old that it is hard like rock. the name is good for them Rockin Rice because it is hard like a family had bibimbob and potato stew and tastes salty. McDonald tastes better than this. My Grandma complained about the hard rice. The sever gave us the stink eye. He even opened the door to make us go fast. DONOTGOTHEREGOTOMCDONALDIFYOUNEEDFOOD!

Review is in regards to customer service experience. Restaurant was expected to close in less than one hour. Politely ask if we may still order, «owner» complies, allows us to sit down. We eventually place an order of one entrée and three appetizers. Upset that we did not place a larger order, he decides not to put in order and resumes functions of closing restaurant.

I ordered postmates delivery of Korean from Rockin Rice and I was very pleased. I was also STARVING so take that into consideration when reading this review. This review is obviously food based only as I did not experience the ambience or the service. I ordered the seafood tofu soup — one of my favorites. Especially places that specialize in it and make their own tofu like a Korean place I tried in Boston. I also ordered the Gal bi and the seafood pancake. These are my three staples. The food was great. Rice was perfect. Gal bi was a tad salty but I ate it with the rice so it was fine. The sides selected were great. They sent some of my favorites and even added one I’ve never had before(dried tiny fish with sliced almonds). I ate them all. I think that they could have included more volume in the sides. I ordered enough food for three people, but definitely only enough sides for one tiny asian woman. I ate the hell out of the seafood pancake until my belly hurt. I tried the soup but saved it for lunch the next day. It was also tasty. I would definitely order again because 1) it’s the only korean food I can get delivered to my house and 2) the food was great. I have read other reviews and have never tried Korean Fried Chicken. I feel like it would not be good as takeout so I may have to journey to Rockin Rice at some point and revisit this review. Four stars because I thought it was very tasty, but I’ve definitely had better korean bbq — I’m talking about you, New Wonjo in NYC. But a strong solid review for takeout.

The sweet and mild Korean chicken is good. Everything else is meh, but that playlist doe! They were playing Drake, Rae, Chris Brown, Future, etc. if only their service was as good as their playlist they’ll be set. I wish I could follow them on Spotify.

I just want to say that I went back to the SF bay area(and Vancouver) and tried all of the best-rated(and my previous favorite) Korean Fried Chicken places to recalibrate– Rockin Rice’s sauce is probably at least twice as good as the best I could find anywhere else. They must make their own gochujang, because their sauce is more flavorful, spicy, and rich than anywhere else I have tried.

No frills here. Just really tasty food. We had bulgogi and bibimpap, and both dishes really hit this spot. I loved the tiny dishes that came with the bulgogi– interesting bite size amounts of great flavor. My boyfriend loved the sauce that came with the bibimpap and the perfect crisp that formed on the bottom of his bowl. Service wasn’t great, but for a late night bowl of rice, I didn’t really care. This will be on our favorites list.

MOSTAUTHENTICKOREANRESTAURANTINAUSTIN. Yes this means it comes with its own grumpy old man as your server. Yes half of the menu is not translated to Eng’rish. Yes, the food is totally worth it. It’s a no frills, neighborhood mom and pop shop just like you’d find back in Korea. My girlfriend and I lived in Korea for 3+ years and this is the only place in town that meets our cravings. I would recommend skipping the fried chicken, it is dry, and rather order the dak galbi. Make sure you a get Small, it’ll easily feed 3 Americans. Add Mandu as your appetizer if your extra hungry.

We decided to check out a market in this shopping area and found this little hole. We walked in and no greeting. Not sure what to do, we stood there for a few minutes and almost left. But finally, a man sitting in plain view gets up and points to a booth for us. Brings us water and silverware. After some desperate and confused deliberation, we decided what to eat. We ordered. Waited about 10 – 15 minutes, the male who pointed where to sit brought put out the cold pickled sides. Most were spicy. I ordered the Galbi Gui(beef ribs) for $ 16.99. Came with about 10 short ribs, seasoned with sesame seeds and delicious sauce. The ribs were so flavorful, a charred, moist meaty flavor with whatever sauce they used. Delectable! Had me licking my fingers clean. A small bowl of rice with it was just the right amount with it. S.O. ordered some bulgogi for $ 10.25. I’m not entirely sure he breathed through the meal except when I offered him a rib from my plate. He said the meat was easy to chew and not gummy. Flavors were all over the place and he poured his rice in the left over such and ate that. While kind of pricy, this place was amazing. Absolutely worth the standoffish service. I don’t care, I’ll absolutely return when I’m visiting Austin. Anyone who had a problem here obviously was drunk and obnoxious and/or easily offended.

I thought the food here was OK. There was nothing great about it, but it wasn’t bad either. The banchan is a little weak. The prices are a little on the high side, but not too bad if you go during lunch time. Not sure if I would visit again. Like I said, nothing was good enough to make me want to go back.

if i could, i wouldn’t even give this place a one star: -( i’ve been here exactly two times and the first time we were served and the second time we were asked to leave. the chicken here was very mediocre at best and actually a bit too pricy… please do yourself a favor and don’t get the soondae(pig intestine with noodles stuffed) here. soondae is actually among my favorite korean food and they ruined the dish completely. with every bite, there’s strange grains or little hard pieces that makes it difficult to believe it’s food. it’s absolutely disgusting. i ended up coming here again recently bc we just happened to be around and my friends thought it was a good idea to try it out. but the service here is flat out terrible. the ahjussi there basically just gave us an attitude and kicked us out of the place. he said that we weren’t ordering enough food for 3 people and asked us to order more or we’ll not be served. for us it was plenty of food we were ordering so we were just caught in confusion and surprise. we had to ask him to clarify. i thought maybe it’s bc we’re college students they’re mistreating us but i’ve heard also from my other friends that they had a terrible experience here as well– they kicked her entire family out of the place giving them an attitude and using mean and inappropriate language. never coming back, would not recommend. i’m surprised they’re managing to be still in business.

I popped in here the other night for takeout. They have a very extensive menu, maybe too extensive? There are about 5 pages of dishes… and several dishes had the prices sharpied out and a new price written in. My dish was originally 8.99 I think and upped to 11.99 — but I was charged $ 15? The restaurant was empty when I arrived, and while I waited — it was about 8pm on a weeknight. The place is a bit shabby when it comes to the transition from dining space to register/kitchen. However the kitchen looked clean from what I could tell. I ordered the beef bulgogi and it was just O.K. The bulgogi was watery and not particularly flavorful. The rice was fine. Overall, nothing to rave about — and too expensive to compensate.

Rocking Rice is actually quite expensive for the quantity and quality of food that they give you. However, the food is pretty authentic. I had the hot and spicy fried chicken as well as the marinated spicy squid dish. The fried chicken is actually mostly batter with very little actual chicken, which isn’t very appetizing at all. The squid was very tasty though, and it comes in a hot stone pot. I also like all the side dishes that they have here especially the bean sprouts and spinach. As for the service, the waitresses actually favor Koreans much better. Whenever I come with my girlfriend(Korean), we get fantastic service and we constantly get refills on all dishes. However, when I go with someone who isn’t Korean, we have awful service, and the waitresses give you attitude about everything. If you can deal with the service, Rockin Rice is a decent Korean restaurant.

Good standard korean food. Some of my favorite dishes are kimchi soft tofu soup, spicy beef soup, dolsot bibimbap, and seafood dolsot bibimbap. The food seems to be consistent over the last year that I have eaten here. So you know what to expect and I like not being surprised. The service is not super chatty, but our order has been taken promptly during lunch every time that I have visited. The owner is just doing business and not out to make friends. She is just a serious woman, and not mean. The food comes out hot and looks to have just been made. I recommend ordering a soup and a bibimbap to share. It will be enough food for two people. I never leave hungry from this place.

Here’s the deal with this place. It has Korean fried chicken, which no other restaurant does in Austin(that I know of). They have a great selection of food and it’s all pretty decent. I usually get some sort of soup to share(the large portions generally feed 3 – 5 people). If you’re looking for anything Korean they probably have it. They even have bossam! But — and this is quite a large but — service is terrible. Not just regular Asian restaurant terrible, but a whole other level of bad. If you come here and only get attitude from the ajumma, then you’re lucky. The ajusshi is usually pretty nice but I’ve only experienced this once out of the like 6 times I’ve been here. I’ve seen everything from yelling to fighting with customers to stink eye for asking for a box to pushing for tips. I once waited 30 minutes to order. It was an empty restaurant. All sorts of crazies up in this place. I think they realize but they don’t even care. Bottom line is, even when I’m craving Korean, I hardly think of this place first because who knows what kind of strange service I’ll get. But if you don’t mind, by all means come! But don’t say I didn’t warn you.

When I first fell in love with KFC(korean fried chicken) it was at Turntable Mad for Chicken in NYC. They had these crispy, steaming, soy-garlic drumettes that were unlike anything else I’d ever had. Comparatively, the KFC here is not as mind blowing. It’s got that special sticky sauce but the flavor was overly sweet for me, not spicy enough and on the pricey side. These are indeed pieces of chicken — not drummies — but like a chicken that’s been hacked into pieces. That’s okay but its infinitely harder to eat. I found myself trying to get the pieces with good meat while going through 72 napkins. We also had the seafood pancake. Again, good but not what we loved previously. The pancake itself was more dough-y, less seafoody. I could appreciate that the pancake wasn’t overly fishy in flavor but the protein seemed sparse. Our server was the owner(I think?) and she was really kind. I also dig the privacy booths with the benches in between having high enough dividers to shield you from your neighbors. I’ll return to try other things on the menu but am still searching for my holy grail of KFC.
