Riverside Chevron

Just stopped in for a water before walking over to SoCo shopping district. They actually had a pretty good selection of all sorts of drinks as well as beers. I was on foot, so didn’t use the car wash or the gas, which seems like where all the complaints are from. Oh well, I guess it’s a decent mini-​mart.

Still have to use the porta-​can even if you filled your tank here. No thanks. Can’t even wash my hands. I realize it’s ACL weekend but what about us people not going who just want to use a normal restroom on the go and have the choice to wash our hands.

Literally the worst car wash I’ve ever been through. I knew it wasn’t going to be great (it’s just the touch-​less gas station kind), but I think my car actually came out dirtier than it was before. When I asked the guys inside if I could take a second pass through because my car was no cleaner, they said no and acted like I was ridiculous for thinking the car was was actually going to make my car cleaner

Stopped by this morning for gas and the pumps were off again. Mr Slack how about doing the reboot earlier in the morning?

I got to meet Eddie Slack the owner and he does business right. He helped me out immensely when I had a problem at the carwash!

Went inside to buy a tire gauge and guy working behind counter never greeted me, scanned the tire gauge, just looked at me like I knew how much it was, I had to look at register to know how much to give him, then gave me my change and looked at me. 12÷26÷14 @ 6:05 pm just in case the store wants to improve their customer service. A smile would have kept you from s negative review.

This gas station on a busy intersection at congress and riverside between south congress and downtown is 24 hours, gets an all night crowd of rainbow characters, and has a decent selection of alcohol and midnight snacks.

They have gas.

This gas station should have it’s own calender, because all the clerks are sexy. Plus, everyone who works there is hilarious. Last time I was in there, there were a bunch of drunk frat guys being super obnoxiousness and singing kanye to themselves, and then some super hot person in a chevron shit was like «if y’all don’t get your sperrys wearing, ankle bracelet loving ass out of this store i’m gonna do it for you, go but your nattie light some where else… I will see the next customer now.» I was like «daaaannngg» and then I bought a delightful selection of local IPAs and Austin made snacks. nom nom! they got some expensive ass gas and cigarettes. How rude! but that’s okay, cause they got the coconut water– so you know that they’re homo and hipster friendly. which is very polite of them. Plus they only have powerade out of the soda machine, but that’s cool, cause only asshole drink powerade. Plus, all those chevron employees always lookin SO FLY in their little blue shits mmmmmhhmmmm.

It smells like incense in here.
The people who work here are laid back.
They carry THE BEST ORANGE CREAM SODA EVER. Sprechers.
Coconut juice (even the chocolate one).
Kombucha soda.
Buddha’s Brew.
Cane sugar sweetened Dr. Pepper
«Happy Water» rainwater in a glass bottle (I have no idea what this is, but it looks awesome)
plus there are some wraps/​sandwiches/​etc in the drinks case.

I love this place! Everyone that works the night shift here is so nice — one of the staff members always goes and grabs my «specialty alcohol“from the back if its not upfront. They always ask me how work or my day was. Plus they have a great assortment of locally made tacos and sandwiches. A little on the pricey side, but I don’t mind paying extra for quality and service

It’s a gas station. Not sure what kind of experience you’re looking for. The gas is typically more expensive than other locations. It does have a car wash.
I bet in the right frame of mind, the multiple, echoing TVs at each pump are a super trip. I found it slightly disorienting.

Rude attendant the other day when I was filling up. The pump was crawling along… it was way slower than normal. I went in to inform the dude behind the counter & he quickly said the pumps are all just fine & are flowing at speeds set by the state of Texas. I mentioned how long they’ve been set to this dismal speed & he said «years.»
I said no way — take a look at my specific pump & gave him the pump number. After looking at it live (the gas was still pumping while I was in the store talking to him), he said «oh, yeah — that is going really slow. I’ll let someone know.»

This place is awesome just for the sole fact that they sell Leinenkugel’s Beer! Awesomeness!

This place is as good as it gets for a gas station. They’ve got a healthy supply of organic snacks, local beer, wine, and other items. Combine with gas station and a carwash & you’ve got a recipe for awesomeness!

Why write about a gas station? Because this isn’t just any gas station it’s the closest gs to where you can grab a drink and heard over to the bridge to watch the bats.
Plus I’ve never seen a gas station so packed before and there was only 3 cars getting gas. Then I saw their large selection of wine and beer. Plus they have a nice selection of snacks.
The attendant was a bit strange, as he was ringing me up decided he would like to tell about the whole history this bottled water company (taking his time on each item so he could talk more), it was really long and I could tell the people were getting very angry behind me.

OMFG, it’s 12:45 Saturday night/​Sunday morning and you’re out of booze! WTF are you gonna do?
If you’re like everyone else within a ten-​mile radius (who isn’t still out drinking downtown), then you go to Riverside Chevron. The line at this place at ten to one, or ten to 12 on Fridays, is both consistently entertaining and entertainingly consistent. HEB and the smaller convenience stores are all closed, so EVERYONE at the Chevron is there for the beer and wine.
Whether you’re in a group making an early exit from downtown, on your way home from second shift, or (like me) an anti-​socialite who prefers to get your drink on at home watching a movie with your dog, you will find your comrades in arms at the Riverside Chevron.
Details: beer and wine (!) selection is nothing special, but still better than your typical convenience store. The store and its exterior are well-​lit, but given its location and the frequently impaired condition of the clientele, it’s wise to keep your head on a swivel late at night. It can get crowded during the last call rush inside, and outside can be a nightmare to navigate as drunken fools fill up their cars and go on their weavy ways. Fights, confrontations, and panhandlers are not uncommon – basically what you’d expect from a convenience store in the shadow of downtown.

Easy in and out to Congress. It can get backed up though, and tough to maneuver around the parking lot.
Yesterday was my first time going inside (I’ve always just gotten gas and paid at the pump). I was pleasantly surprised to find organic milk and ben & jerry’s ice cream.

I hate to get gas, so on gas-​up days, I plot my course based on convenience and one-​stop shop. If your route doesn’t require a left turn against heavy traffic, Riverside Chevron gots the goods. Pay at the pump speediness, public restroom if you’ve got to go, a selection of wines and beers… fresh juices from Austin’s Goodflow, ATM, clove cigarettes, friendly staff and a whole lot more. Pay inside cash, credit or debit. Also a great stop for refreshments for those on foot!

Closest convenience store to the Bats under Congress Bridge. Good for grabbing a soda or gatorade or gum or New York Times (thought they run out early of the Times) or ice or a six pack. Not only do they have a decent selection of wine, they sell wine gift bags if you’re running late to a dinner party.
Very easy to use tire pump with a digital reader of the pressure. Yes, this was my first time ever putting air in my tires. After my friend C commented on «flat tires!» I got him to go to the gas station to assist, but was amazed by how simple it was. Next time, I’ll go solo!
Gas here tends to be 5 – 25 cents higher than other places – you pay for the convenience.
