APJ is a Dual Language (English/​Spanish) preschool, licensed by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. We serve children ages 18 months — 5 years-​old and have a maximum capacity of 12 children. Class ratios are kept low (6:1) for effective instruction. Arts, crafts and story-​time are part of our daily routine. APJ also provides organic home-​cooked meals including breakfast, lunch & snack. We strive to be eco-​friendly and are moving towards becoming a «green school» in the near future.

Meet the Business Owner

Mayra and Valerie G.

Business Owner

Mayra was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She is a first-​generation American who is proud of her Mexican roots and her first language, Spanish. She intends to infuse Austin’s preschool scene with that particular flavor, creating a Dual Language curriculum, personally preparing APJ’s diverse organic meals and showcasing diversity within the school. Mayra also loves music, playing musical instruments, attending local shows and is a fan of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan. ** Valerie is an Austinite with a special place for Texas in her heart. Her entire career has been in child care. She is currently obtaining a degree in Child Development/​Education at UT Austin. She has a natural knack for working with children and wants to inspire a love for learning in her students, as her teachers did for her. A lifetime learner, Val is curious and loves art.
