Preferred AC & Appliance

Man. This «company» is terrible. After being assigned to them by Allied Home Warranty (another terrible company I will never use again) they no-​showed twice, and we called Allied to be reassigned to another vendor. Well, they reassigned us to these people again. Genius. Apparently South Austin is some remote part of Texas where there are not a lot of appliance repair folks… Every company Allied has is from Georgetown or Round Rock.
This guy came out to look at our dryer, did some kind of half-​ass fix and said he was ordering a part. well, that was on 12/​30, over 3 weeks ago and we’ve heard nothing since.
They had no problem cashing our check, and now there is no one to answer the phone. We now have another person that we have to pay to look at the dryer, who mentioned these «pros» most likely disabled the thermostat. Good times. Who doesn’t love a good dryer fire.

Very disappointment with this company. All I do is leave voice messages on their answering machine. No one returns my calls. Trying to work with this company through my Home Warranty. They were prompt with the initial call and determining what was wrong with the refrigerator, but after that it was like they disappeared off the face of the earth. I’m still waiting, in agony.

I worked with this company through my Home Warranty. My AC fan went out and they were able to get me scheduled the same day. The technician was very courteous and I felt that he really cared about the work he was doing and wasn’t trying to rush through to get to the next job.
I know there may be some negative reviews regarding appliance repair but as far as I can say, the work done on my AC unit was stellar and I recommend this company if they serve your area of Austin.

Preferred A/​C and Appliance not only fixed the problem we were having with our AC, but they showed me how to fix the problem if it ever happens again, and they also gave me some tips for preventative maintenance. They called ahead to let me know they were coming and were courteous and friendly when they arrived. If I ever need A/​C work done again, I won’t hesitate to call them back.

Preferred AC and appliance was sent to us in February through our home warranty company. They only responded to me under threat of losing the job. The technician hardly looked at my appliances. Miss diagnosed one causing my claim to be denied. I was not comfortable with having them back to do any work. Ended up canceling the home warranty as well and found a new appliance serviceman.

Also referred to Preferred AC by 2 – 10 Home Buyer’s Warranty. Preferred AC setup an apointment with me and didn’t show and never returned my calls or voicemails. I dealt with a different company prior to speaking with Preferred that was superb, but didn’t work with 2 – 10 HBW.
After attempting to work with Preferred I called 2 – 10 and asked for someone else (who was much more friendly than Preferred I might add). If Preferred can’t even hold an apointment how am I supposed to trust them with my home’s AC units?

Gilberto, the appliance technician did a great job in diagnosing & replacing the faulty part on dishwasher.

I wish I could say I had as great an experience as the 2 previous reviewers. Not sure what has changed with this company as this was my first (and last) experience with them, but they are nothing like the other reviews say. Very disappointing!
I was also referred/​sent to these guys from 2 – 10 Home Warranty. Although I was told Preferred AC would call me to setup an appointment, after 3 days of no contact I called them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt (hey, maybe the warranty company *meant* to tell me to call them instead?) I gave them a call. Left a message. No call back. Called again the next day, left message. No call back. Ok… really? Call again, this time they take my info and say they will call me back to schedule the appointment. I call again… after 2 days of no call back and finally get an appointment scheduled. As you can imagine, this was a frustrating process already.
The day of the appointment I was given the window of 8am-​12pm and told to have the $ 60 deductible fee to pay to them when they arrived. At 12:45pm…no show, no call. I call and leave message as they did not answer. At 1pm I receive a call back saying we’re running late. (no apology, no estimate on when they’d arrive, nothing. very unprofessional!). I ask him when he thinks he will arrive, and he did tell me but in all honesty, I cannot remember his answer. He did show up between 1:15 — 1:30.
The appointment was very brief. In and out in about 15 minutes or less. Said he needed to order parts. No estimate of time was given nor did I know what parts he was ordering. They cashed the $ 60 check the very next day. This happened about 1.5 weeks before Christmas. The original claim to start this whole process was filed before Thanksgiving with the warranty company to give you an idea of how long this has already taken.
After over a month went by with no call or information, I called them on 1/​13, left message. No call back. (sound familiar?) Called again a week later ¹⁄₂₀. Left message. No call back. (HOW HARD IS IT TO RETURN A CALL??) Called again today ¹⁄₂₉. They answer! As I just begin to say what I am calling about they rudely cut me off and ask for the property address. The man (I don’t know his name) asks for my number and tells me he ‘just saw my paperwork and will call me right back’. I wait an hour. then another. It’s been over 8 hours and guess what… NO CALL BACK.
At this point, after over 2 months of trying to get my stove/​oven fixed, I called my warranty company to report them. I’ve got a new repair company coming out and the warranty company says they will stop using them as contractors (doubt this is true, but it’s nice to think they would).
My advice — DO NOT USE. If your warranty company wants to use them, refuse and ask for another (trust me, they have LISTS of contractors they could call). Of course, if you like giving away free money for no work… then maybe this is the company for you.

We’ve had a range of problems with our house (right at the age where major appliances are turning) and 2 – 10 has referred us to Preferred AC & Appliance three times. I’m giving them two stars ONLY because the 2^nd visit got us a new oven, but it took 3 months due to their mistake. The first visit was fruitless (made no repairs to a failing old AC unit), and this most recent visit was the last straw.
The pilot light on our gas heater kept going out and we had to light it manually with a torch. A different contractor came out but wouldn’t touch it because of the needed repairs and said to call the warranty company. 2 – 10 referred Preferred AC and they got in touch with us very quickly. They scheduled us for same-​day service, which was awesome, except they were 1.5hrs late. No head’s up, just left me sitting at home waiting during business hours. When they finally arrived they said they needed to order a part and that they’d be back the next day at 10am to fix it. In the meantime, no heat. Well it got down to the mid 30s that night and it was COLD in the house. People nor pets were pleased.
The next day 10am came and went, then 11am, and by 11:30 I was calling them to see where they were UHgain. They’d be there in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later (after another call and reaching out to 2 – 10) they show up only to end up cleaning the pilot light and leaving. The process took 5 minutes, but resulted in hours of time off work and no heat in the middle of winter. When I brought up these concerns neither the technician nor the dispatcher were particularly receptive — in fact, the owner followed up only to verify that I knew that they fixed the problem quickly because the warranty company was mad and he needed to cover his butt.
I would have been way happier waiting for 2 or 3 days and using the heater as we’d been using it rather than waiting on them for hours, being cold and eventually receiving bad customer service. They’re just «very busy» and we’re «lucky» they got us in that fast. I get that, but customers are also busy and businesses are responsible for making good on their promises. A simple phone call to reschedule could have made this way less ridiculous.
They’ve had 3 chances not to be such a fail. I will absolutely request a different provider from 2 – 10 the next time something breaks.

Since my last review, my wall-​mounted AC unit stopped cooling. 2 – 10 Home Warranty, again, referred me to Preferred AC and Tino came back.
Again, he was efficient, friendly, prompt and he didn’t give me any run-​around about «limping» the AC unit along for a «few more months» — he saw the AGE of the unit & immediately recommended to 2 – 10 that we replace the unit… waiting to see what that means to me in $$, but i was happy to get the verdict quickly.
He also followed up on the washing machine problem that was never resolved with 2 – 10 & he’s ordering a new part! ;)

Preferred A/​C is GREAT! Not only did they make it out to my house within 30 min of me calling, but the they fixed the problem in less than hour! Tino was super awesome, professional and very very tolerant of my barky pup (sorry about that Tino!).
Call them for your A/​C or appliance needs for sure!

If you want a rude and condescending AC repair guy, this is your man! Otherwise, look elsewhere and don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I have to agree with the first reviewer. These guys are awful. They refuse to return my phone calls and I have to go through the manufacturer to get in touch with anyone. When they serviced the fridge, they didn’t do it properly and they had to come back out. They say that they are going to order the necessary parts only to wait endlessly for weeks. Upon a follow up phone call to the manufacturer, they apparently didn’t order the part and we have been needlessly waiting. This has happened twice now with two different parts.
These guys are absolutely awful. I highly recommend anyone looking for a repair man to go far away from these guys. I don’t know why Frigidaire /​Electrolux have these guys as warranty repairman as they are the worst.

These are simply the worst guys I have dealt with… ever.
I have a Frigidaire built in microwave that is 4 months old. Frigidaire told me to contact these guys to come and repair in as it is under warranty. So I called and scheduled them to come between 12 – 4 on a Wednesday. On that Wednesday morning, the tech called and said he need to reschedule because he was too busy. I told him I had taken a half day off from work to be there and that I couldn’t move it. So he said he would come but it would be late. When he had not showed up by 5 I called. I got his voicemail. I waited another hour to hear back, but nothing. I called again. And still no response.
A few days passed and I was so busy at work I forgot about it. But I called again on Friday and they said they could come again the next Wednesday (note: the man on the line didn’t bother to even apologize). So what happened on Wednesday? No visit, no call. That was a week ago. I have called several times since and still no response.
So I let Frigidaire know about this and hopefully they will deal with it. But if you are looking for someone to work with… these guys are not it.

They were fine on the initial visit, but this is the last I heard from them. The repair man could not fix the problem with my dishwasher, and said he would need to call tech support and get back to me. I have been waiting for a return phone call for a month now. They don’t answer their phone, and will not return calls. I have left 5 messages in the past month.
Don’t bother calling them, you will just end up calling someone else to finish the job anyway…
