Precision Podiatry: Dr. Ryan Shock D.P.M

I came across Precision Podiatry on Unilocal.The reviews were outstanding so I decided to give it a try. I had been to another podiatrist and had a horrible experience. Dr Ryan Shock is absolutely incredible I have been twice and am pain free.
The entire staff is professional and friendly. I highly recommend them!

After another podiatrist recommended surgery for a callous apparently caused by an adjacent hammertoe, I saw Dr. Shock for a second opinion. His diagnosis and treatment were different and significantly less invasive. I appreciate his bedside manner, sense of humor, and mostly, ability to quickly resolve my painful issue. My second opinion will from now on be my first consult for any future foot issues! Highly recommend Dr. Shock and his team.

I suffered from foot and ankle pain for years until I met Dr Shock. After other podiatrist treatments did not work it was such a relief to find his wonderful practice! The office is very comfortable and stylish with a very personal staff. His knowledge of the field is priceless and Affordable! I am 7 weeks out of ankle surgery and feeling better than ever chasing my two toddler boys. Thank You Dr Shock.

Last April, I started having intense pain in my left foot — to the point that I couldn’t get out of bed in the morning without dreading putting my feet on the ground. I made an appointment with a different doctor in the city and was diagnosed with a stress fracture based on somewhat inconclusive X-​rays (in fairness, the cuboid bone is tough to diagnose because it’s kinda spongy). I was put in a walking boot for three weeks and asked to come back. When I showed no improvement, I was put on crutches in addition to the boot for another month. Two months of being immobile feels like a lifetime in Austin when you’re only 30, and I was showing no improvement on what should’ve been barely a hairline fracture. During all of this time there was talk of getting me to buy or rent an expensive bone growth machine. Google it. Anyway, when it became obvious I wasn’t getting better, the doctor started spitballing and diagnosed me with gout (he had just seen a case of a young girl with similar symptoms, and, admittedly, my diet wasn’t great at the time). I was put on Indomethacine which only served to literally give me migraines. When that didn’t work, the doctor, resigned, gave me a cortisone shot into the cuboid joint and sent me on my way. This all took MONTHS and MONEY (I was sent for an MRI at one point, too — I don’t even remember why). Keep in mind every day of this involved excruciating pain. I gained weight because I couldn’t work out and avoided social gatherings because I could barely walk. I was miserable. I sought out a second opinion. I found myself at Dr. Shock’s office simply because it was close to my home and I was exhausted of doctor’s appointments. I told Dr. Shock my story and he immediately knew my diagnosis. The previous doctor had been right to give me a cortisone shot, but he hadn’t done it correctly. Dr. Shock administered a shot with a noticeably different method from the previous doctor, exuding experience and confidence so much that he advised me to get back to running right away. He took the time to look at my gait and my feet and explained to me the cause of my problem — a mechanical stress on the joint because of my high arches. He made sure I had good running shoes and prescribed orthopedic insoles his office sells at a really reasonable price. I saw improvement immediately. I went back to his office for a couple more shots over the next few months to squash the remaining pain, steadily showing improvement. Only when I neglected to wear the insoles during lengthy periods of walking/​standing/​running did I ever get an inkling of pain after that. By all accounts I was cured. I’m writing this review so long after the fact because I was thinking today of how grateful I am that I don’t have that condition anymore. So, this is less a review and more thanks for greatly improving my quality of life. Thank you, Dr. Shock.

I recently injured my foot during our move & I was in so much pain. My regular dr referred me to Dr. Shock & I am so greatful for the referral. He was so patient, caring & knowledgeable. The front desk staff were very pleasant and I don’t think I have ever been so impressed with an exam visit. I’ll be back in several weeks and I’m actually ooking forward to it

Watch them for over charging you. They over charge you by entering the wrong code to the insurance company.

After a year of pain and frustration, I was referred to Dr. Shock. Best referral ever! He was able to immediately diagnose and put me on the fast track to recovery. He’s extremely knowledgeable and always makes sure that my 100+ questions are answered. The office staff are very friendly and always willing to help. The wait time is minimal for an appointment… you can schedule an afternoon appointment and not spend your entire afternoon there. I can’t say enough about how wonderful Dr. Shock and his team have been!!!

After seeing three podiatrists and an orthopedic specialist for my daughter’s foot pain, Dr. Shock has helped her feel the best she has in almost three years. He respected our wish to keep her active. Honest, funny, knowledgeable, and all around good guy. We highly recommend him.

I have been going to Dr. Ryan Shock for diabetic foot ulcers for over a year. Today I can say I am back to wearing shoes and no foot ulcers. He has worked so hard for me to get back on track. He is a great doctor. I feel

I had surgery on both feet over a year ago, only to deal with daily pain. My feet were constantly swollen, I couldn’t fit into shoes, I had a hard time running (which is my hobby), and I felt terrible. I went back to my surgeon numerous times, but he wasn’t able to offer anything to help. I decided to get a second opinion, and after three visits with Dr. Shock, I’m now pain free, there is only mild swelling once in awhile when I run long distances, and I can now do what I did before (even yoga!). I wish I had found him earlier, because I spent over a year with needless pain. I know I will have to have surgery again in the future, and Dr. Shock is also a board certified ankle/​foot surgeon, so it’s nice to know I won’t have to switch doctors for the surgery. I appreciate that he didn’t push surgery and he went for conservative treatment first. It feels really good to live a life free of pain!

I highly recommend Dr. Ryan Shock! Dr. Shock listens, works with you and makes you laugh. He is very educated, knowledgeable and experienced. He’s got a great team that is very professional. I was his patient for about a year and had only positive experience.

I took my 14 year old son in to have an ingrown toenail taken care of.
Everyone there was super nice and helpful, Dr. Ryan explained everything in a way that was easy to understand without making us feel stupid and he has a great personality :-)

Dr. Ryan Shock is an Outstanding Podiatrist! I should know as I have seen 7 others all across the USA until I moved to Austin and found Dr. Shock. I have been put thru all kinds of tests and therapies for injuries to my feet and ankles that have resulted in long standing tendonitis, shin splints and a couple of other things. I had just about given up hope of ever being able to walk with out a lot of pain again. But Dr. Shock has given me that hope back. He has a wonderful attitude toward a problem. He looks at it as a challenge to be SOLVED not just medicated and as an on-​going issue. He also takes a conservative approach and I like that. He is not just one who says lets just go have surgery :) I don’t like that: (He has made great progress with me and my pain is so much less and I am very happy. So he is wonderful and I highly recommend him!

I went to 2 other podiatrists in the 620 area before trying Dr. Shock, and he’s the first one that I really like. Not only is he a really nice and professional doctor, but he was the only one who was able to properly diagnose and treat my foot pain.

I was so pleased to find Dr. Shock, and that he is now practicing in such a convenient location. I had been having terrible heel pain for months, not improving w/​stretching, meds, or rest. It throws everything off to have foot pain… affects everything else up the line… knees, hips, back, mental health because you can’t exercise the way you want. He was very thorough and, after some x-​rays and questioning, diagnosed it as a bursitis/​plantar fasciitis. 3 injections later and I’m good as new. Thankyou Dr. Shock!

Dr. Shock goes above and beyond to help his patients and truly cares about their recovery. On two different occasions, Dr. Shock has helped me with minor injuries. He consistently explains things in a very easy way to understand and sets realistic expectations for recovery. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Shock is truly a blessing to the Austin athletic community. I am so glad that I saw Dr. Shock about my hamstring pain that had plagued me with running & cycling for years. After much frustration with all types of doctors, I was told to see Dr. Shock. I never thought that a heightened arch in my right foot would cause Sciatic pain, but once he corrected my arches, the pain was gone! The best part was that Dr. Shock was thorough with his explanation and genuinely cares about his patients.
