Pho Saigon Noodle House

For some bun vermicelli this is the place to come and get it! The noodle bowl with lots of fresh veggies and grilled chicken is the best in town. The noodles are white rice noodles topped with a pile of veggies as romanie lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, and bean sprouts and peanuts to give it more of a crunch! The grilled chicken is moist and tender and you taste the burnt grilled marks that are on the chicken. You are also given some onion juice with some chili pepper flakes to drizzle over your noodles to help with the dryness. And of course you have your condiments, Sriracha sauce, hoisin sauce, and hot chili oil. I tend to add all 3 to give it some sweet spiciness. It has romaine lettuce which is a plus because other places tend to give you iceberg lettuce which doesn’t have the same crunch that romaine lettuce gives. The place has fast service and everyone is helping. Busy times are at lunch and dinner.

They are a teamwork sort of place, so you don’t have any one server, the whole staff is responsible for your table, which I think is just awesome. We go at least a couple times a month and never had to wait for a table, and we’ve always been so happy with the quality of the food. There’s nothing like the comfort you get from a huge bowl of steaming phở!

Phở Saigon is my go to for Vietnamese food. I am very picky about Vietnamese food since growing up my mom made the best. I love this place because the food is good, the prices are fair, and the service is fast. The dining area has great ambient light, three sides of the building are floor to ceiling glass panels so you don’t feel like you are in a dark walled in room. Great place to get phở, grilled meat dishes with rice or spring rolls.

Service was very slow. Phở had good flavor and the bowl was a good size. Ordered the shrimp spring rolls and they were kind of fishy. The inside is not at all clean. Overall my experience was okay. Not sure if I’d return just because of how dirty and slow the service was.

After some many more visits, the staff allows me to order #74. Yes, they would argue with me because I’m white. I can’t blame them, this isn’t a typical soup. It’s a pork broth soup with pork intestine and fish. It smells terrible. But it’s the best bowl of Phở on the planet.
My Vietnamese friend showed me how she converts this into a hot and sour soup using limes and hot sauce that come with the meal. Let me just say that you can take this soup’s flavors in just about any direction and they all end up being multidimensional and utterly satisfying.
I’m a very adventurous eater, so this isn’t for everyone. Which is why I get so much heat from the staff when ordering it. But, if you do exotic sashimi (Uni, Mackerel, etc…) you can easily handle this soup.

For a place called ‘Phở Saigon’, you’d expect the phở better be top notch. However, that wasn’t the case, it never was.
During my visit today, I spent a long time pondering what I should get. The reason being is because there really isn’t anything special at this place. I was only dragged her because family friends kidnapped me. The service was ok.
Anyways, I got the Special Phở. The only good thing about it is the generous portion. Other than that, the broth had too much msg, almost made it unbearable to eat.
But hey, that’s just my two cents. The owners should really rethink the name ‘Phở Saigon.’

The food was okay. Not bad at all, just not as good as most places. The service, however, definitely affected the meal.
I got chicken phở and pork spring rolls. Both came out so quick that it was like they were bringing them to the table before I arrived. This could be a good thing, but it did mean that the spring roll outside was a little tough from sitting, which wasn’t a huge deal, but affected the taste, and also made then stick to the plate, causing them to rip open when I picked them up. The meat was quite flavorful, and I like the peanut sauce.
I got the mixed dark/​white chicken phở. I have concluded that I will never ever find a bowl of phở as good as I Heart Phở, which closed, so I am just going to stick with vermicelli bowls from now on. The phở was not bad, but there were so many noodles it was hard to find the broth, which is my favorite part. The noodles were cooked a good amount though. There was a lot of chicken skin and gristle, but the meat was pretty good.
The service though… I was seated immediately, which is good. I pulled out my camera to take a picture of the menu for my reference, and it was like 3 different waiters were suddenly hovering at the table. When I say hovering, I mean someone immediately came over, and when I said I’d be a few minutes, the next one came over about 30 seconds later, if that. Same thing, and then another one came over a few seconds after that and basically stood at the table until I finally just ordered without looking at the rest of the menu. It was pretty annoying. So then my spring rolls came out immediately, which was okay, but then my soup came out 1 bite into the spring rolls. Not the end of the world, but I appreciate Twin Lions where they subtly keep an eye on you to bring out your food right around when you’re finishing your soup.
So I get my food, and that’s the last time anyone comes. There were around 4 or 5 waiters, but they were really enjoying socializing. There was a table that needed to be cleared the whole time I was there, but they didn’t move from their chatting spot. When I needed a container, it took some work to get someone’s attention. Not a huge deal, but if I’m going to a sit down restaurant, I do expect the crowd of waiters to maybe come by and check on things. I had been considering picking up a to go for lunch the next day, but was just ready to go. Definitely a huge contrast from Phở Thanh Ni in Cedar Park, whose employees are super attentive and helpful, bagging up my leftovers for me, and even taking the ice out of the water pitcher to refill my no ice water (on their own, not at my request, they just put that much effort in).
Again, the food is okay. Not great, but okay, but it will be the service that makes me choose someplace else next time.

Ordered bun bo hue, beef phở, spring rolls, egg rolls and Vietnamese coffee.
Found soups flavorless, spring rolls were just ok, egg rolls decent. Coffee was good.
We left our bowls more almost full and went to a place next door. Way too many good choices in the area to go here.
Will not be returning.

Order of phô always comes out extremely fast here! We love coming here after church on Sundays especially when it’s windy phô weather.
Service:
You’re greeted quickly to an available table and taken care of. My only wish is that they’d be more aware that my water cup is empty without me needing to look for help. Also, they have table numbers written on the napkin holders. If you don’t remember it when you go up to the counter to pay, they get extremely upset with you although no one tells you to know it. My friend and I didn’t know our table numbers and the lady behind the register told us to go look at the napkin holder with an unpleasant attitude.
Food:
The food tastes great and they’re happy to get you more lemons/​cilantro/​bowl for sauce upon request! And they bring out bean sprouts steamed upon request as well!
Location:
The place is pretty big. I never have to wait to get seated no matter how big of a group we come with. There’s also a Japanese 3-​dollar store called Fit next door, it’s great visiting after your meal!
This place is a pretty solid Phô place… It’s just the prices have noticeably increased since my first visit.

This place used to be my every weekend go-​to, but it got kind of monotonous and bland somewhere during that time. The quality really started dropping. But then the other day, I decided that after making my rounds in Austin and going to all the big name viet restaurants, it was finally time to revisit the Saigon.
Saigon has always been excellent in the sense that they bring out your food within 5 mins of you ordering it. Extra great when you’re hungover or raging hungry. I’m not sure if they’ve really improved their recipe or if it’s just that nostalgia factor hitting me in the face, but I haven’t been this satisfied by a meal in a very long time. I don’t claim to be an expert at viet food but I know what I like. And this place I did. I wouldn’t say this place tastes homey or anything but it hits the spot. To top it all off, I usually scoop the blood jelly out of my bun bo hue but when I decided to give it another chance, I was very pleasantly surprised at how neutral and savory it tasted here at Saigon vs other places, where it usually tastes kind of gamey. The soup was also a lot more rich than I remembered.
Long live phở Saigon. I’ll definitely be returning more often.
Ps. The portions are gigantic! I could probably eat a large over three meals.
Pps. I’m speaking mostly of the bun bo hue. Phở here is very solid, but the phở game in Austin is a whole ‘nother ballgame.

I have to say that this is my mom’s favorite phở place. She brings all of her friends here and refuses to try out other phở places.
As for me, Phở Saigon is a tasty place! I love how their broth is not greasy like other phở places and that their other dishes are pretty amazing too! I have had their seafood phở, vermicelli with egg roll and rice plate with charbroiled meat. Their food is tasty and the food comes out so quickly. The food is consistently good. Try the dishes on the menu. Venture out!
The wait staff is attentive and will come by to check on you.
This place is always busy and it’s rare that it’s dead. Even at 4:30pm on a Saturday they had a crowd.

Wonderful phở place in the Chinatown center. The service was quick and the phở had plenty of flavor! I ordered #40, which is the chicken noodle soup. Wonderful broth and it was the perfect hot temperature. Everyone else at my table ordered #18 which is the beef soup and they loved their soups as well. The #1 egg rolls also came out quickly and were fresh!
Definitely would recommend this place for how quick the service was and how good the phở was.

Best phở place in Austin !! I love their phở, egg rolls and broken rice dishes. I’ve been searching for a good Vietnamese restaurant since I’m originally from Orange County and I was craving a good bowl of phở. A friend recommended this place and I’m so happy I checked it out. I am now a regular :)
On the weekends, this place gets packed but it’s a gigantic restaurant with plenty of seats so you don’t need to wait a long time! Huge plus.

I love how efficient this place is. As soon as we sat down we were promptly greeted and given water and menus. After browsing the menu and looking/​smelling around at the other tables foods I knew I was getting a vermicelli bowl. Even though it was the lunch rush the food was quick, best part is that the food was all really good. The portion was more than plenty, fresh vegetables and the pork was charred just right. To top everything off I ordered a Café Sua Da and as soon as I took a sip I said «Woah, things are going to get done today» For those not familiar with Café Sua Da its dark french coffee (Café Du Monde usually) dripped over condensed milk and then adding ice. Its a strong kick of coffee with a sweet kiss of condensed milk. This place is good for a quick lunch.

«Phở Saigon» is one of the better places in Austin for Vietnamese food. Phở Saigon is conveniently located with in the Chinatown shopping center, just about where all the other Vietnamese shops are. The prices are fairly standard for a Vietnamese place about $ 6 – 7 per dish and it has all the favorites like Phở (of course), bun bo hue, egg noodle, vermicelli, and rice dishes.
The phở here isn’t too bad. My phở of choice is usually the «Phở Bo Vien» (phở with meatballs) and it is consistently good. The soup is a little bit too fatty for my taste but the meat and noodles are always fresh. My favorite dishes from Phở Saigon are actually the rice and vermicelli dishes. The «Bun Ga Nuon» (grilled chicken with vermicelli) is delicious. This dish is served with flavorful grilled meat served with fresh vegetables like bean sprouts, lettuce, and carrots. Both these dishes are topped with sweet fish sauce (nuoc mam) and you can also add egg roll to add some crunchy consistency to it. These ingredients add a variety of flavor to the meat and will definitely fill you up with their generous portion size.
I would definitely recommend giving Phở Saigon a try if you want some signature vietnamese vermicelli or rice dishes. After your meal, if you want some dessert, there are plenty of other options within the plaza at the bakeries or the boba shops!

This is one of our favorite phở places in Austin. The service is always super fast, portion sizes are good, and the ingredients always are on point. They have a large selection of phở to choose from which is also nice. They also have kids portions which is always a plus. There are so many phở places popping up all over Austin now, but this one is still one of the best around.

Phở was VERY flavorful, but on the sweet side. My husband mentioned they didn’t give enough meat in his phở. Pork chop portion was huge (probably equivalent to 2 pork chop plates at other Viet restaurants). Only thing is… it’s pretty sweet too! Not a fan of sweet meat. The rice dish didn’t come with the soup broth though (boo). Had to flag staff down for several things, but overall service was good. Food… hmm…can be better.
Roomy place, big selection of Viet dishes. Better than Duy’s. Maybe it was an off day as they seem to have pretty good reviews. Will have to give them another chance whenever I’m in Austin again.

We found ourselves craving some absolutely soul warming soup recently with the cold temps moving into Austin.
Enter…Phở Saigon. Always good in a pinch.
We were quickly seated, had orders placed in 5 minutes, and then had the steaming bowls of soup bought out in about 10 minutes. It’s a basic sort of bowl and plentiful in the meat and noodle ratio. I like that they place quite a few sprigs of basil on the requisite plate of herbs and sprouts. I always get irritable when the plate comes and there’s only 1 sprig of thai basil. Way lame.
I was a bit disappointed they didn’t have the tiny saucers. The legit phở places have these tiny little sauces that you can put some hoisin sauce in so you can dip your meats while eating noodles and broth for extra flavor.

Nothing smells more authentic than the aroma of fish sauce upon entering this restaurant. This place is great for a quick lunch for small and large groups of people, Very good Vietnamese phở and my go to spot in Austin. They have other items on the menu but if the food is in the restaurant name then it’s a safe bet to just order phở. Enjoy!
