Dr. Vigo is sympathetic and persistent. My case was a bit unusual, and he stuck with me until we found the right combination of treatments so I can get through allergy season with minimal misery.

Normally I don’t give anything five stars but since good doctors are rare these days I felt it was deserved in this case. I saw Dr. Vigo specifically for sublingual allergy treatment (vs shots) since I have an aversion to needles. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his job and I highly recommend him. With that said allergies are different for everyone and if a specific treatment does not work for you it may not be the fault of the practitioner. In my case my allergies improved significantly after treatment.

Dr. Vigo is always helpful and patient. He explains everything and answers the thousands of questions that I always have. His PA and nurses are also very friendly, and return phone calls promptly. My best friend and her husband now see Dr. Vigo as well and are equally pleased. I am finally seeing relief from the allergies I have been suffering from for two decades.

I’ll be nice and give 2 stars, because he WAS very thorough. However… it’s not House, MD here people.
I had hives, and then my eye swelled up. I went to a doctor, got steroids, and a week later, my lip swelled up. Obviously it was an allergic reaction to something, but what? That was my only question. I went to see Dr. Vigo, and he proceeded to tell me that because my feet were cold (it was January, I was in flats with no socks) that I had poor circulation and must have an autoimmune disease. I mentioned that I’d had hives a week before and he said «some cancers present in the form of hives» and then went on to tell me that I might have Hepatitis C, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, or cancer and should talk to my gynecologist. He wanted me to get blood work done and come back a week later to «go over the results and then we’ll do some skin testing». I went to get my blood tested for everything — ALL THE THINGS — and they took ten (10!!) viles of blood because the testing was so extensive. The next week the doctor’s office called to tell me my results were normal but to come back in anyway. I *assumed* that meant I’d be getting skin testing since obviously it was an allergic reaction… instead, he said «oh, you haven’t had any episodes in the last week! Doesn’t that make you happy? We don’t need to do skin testing now. If anything happens again, just let me know!» I still want to know WHY was I there that day? Why did they need me to come to the office, spend my $ 20 co-​pay, just to hear some news I heard on the phone 3 days earlier?
Bottom line, after visiting an allergist, I have $ 40 less than I started with, 10 viles of blood less than I started with, and am no closer to knowing what I was allergic to. And I’m still itchy. It was a waste of time and I wish I’d gone elsewhere. But thank you, Dr. Vigo, for searching for any possible obscure answer and being sure I don’t have AIDS, Hep C or cancer. Phew, what a relief!

I went to Dr. Vigo about two years ago on a friend’s recommendation and loved him. He was really great about explaining everything to me and I didn’t feel like he was trying to rush me out the door to see another patient. I then moved South and decided to try to find a closer allergist. I went to a new one once but really disliked the experience so decided Dr. Vigo was worth the drive. I would highly recommend him to anyone in the Austin area looking for a good allergist.
