P. Terry’s Burger Stand

Didnt know how to explain what I had experienced in this place.
It was a total mess, the burger looks pale and it taste bad.
P. Terry’s Burger Stand to make their patty thicker, the prices were also way up high, maybe they should make it lower.

Apparently an Austin institution, it was certainly popular around 6:30pm on a weekday. Line at the drive up window was blocking traffic out on the street.
Price is right, double cheese burger, fries and shake for less than $ 8.
So what do get for $ 8? Meat patties that are thinner than the pickles, good amount of thin cut fries that were more limp than crispy, shake that was ok but melted down very quickly to thin liquid.

So it wasn’t really a bad meal, just expected a step or two above big name chains, but experienced less.

Burgers are excellent and cheap here. Burger patties are always juicy and melted with cheese perfectly. But too much lettuce that covered the perfection of juicy beefy meat.
I love their fries, usually pretty crunchy and fresh. I only love it with their special sauce (mayo? Pickles?). Anyway, specials sauce is the must at P.Terrys.
Customer services and the store manager are very rude. They simply do not care about their service. One of the examples was the store manager refused to give us a refund for one order fries… We never received it.
But $ 1.50 is not gonna stop me from coming back for good fries and burgers.

I had heard good things about this restaurant so decided to try it and ordered it takeout. I was disappointed by the customer service when the gentleman behind the counter gave my order to the wrong person then asked me to chase after him in the parking lot to exchange the order. I felt very uncomfortable that he made me fix his mistake with a stranger.

Yum! Their burgers are homemade with all natural Angus beef, the shoestring fries are crispy, the organic root beer is good, and the chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are big enough to to share and are delicious!
The prices ($ 2.95 for a burger) are fantastic and the staff is friendly.

I was really excited to try P. Terry’s when I got to Austin today. I went through the drive thru, was helped right away, and got my order in a timely fashion. They also have dog biscuits if you have your pup with you!
The burger was just so-​so. The beef was a bit dry to be honest, and the burger itself lacked flavor. The fries were good, but they didn’t change my life. If I was starving to the point where I was about to eat my arm, I would eat here again. Otherwise I will be spending my money at In-​n-​Out.

P. Terry’s is pretty amazing. There’s no other burger chain like. All natural black Angus chuck is used for the burgers. Local organic tomatoes, when available are also used. Fresh cut Idaho Burbank potatoes are cooked in 100% canola w/​no trans fat or hydrogenated oils. Fries are so delicious! Even the ketchup is all natural & has no fructose corn syrup. The soda fountain station offers Maine Root soda root beer. A natural soda alternative. P. Terry’s will surely make you reconsider going to a typical fast food burger place. This is a Austin’s area unique burger stand that creates a memorable dining experience! Don’t forget to save some room for a delicious milk shake!

Honestly so yummy.
Only had a cheeseburger & fries, but the prices are very affordable and the beef is supposed to be grass-​fed and no hormones.
Try it. At least once!

P. Terry’s is, undoubtedly, my go-​to hamburger place. I’ve been here more times in the past year than I would care to admit. I think it’s honestly the best burger in ATX, when you’re looking for that basic amazing burger.
I only deduct 1 star because ~70% of the time, my order is messed up somehow. I’ve had to remind them and wait for my shake every time I’ve ordered one. In the drive-​through, I’ve had the incorrect burger (ie. no onions, not a double, etc) or had missing items many times. I’m always careful to check now, but I can’t stop going because it’s just so damn good.

P. Terry’s has become one of my favorite alternatives to the typical fast food places. It is affordable if not cheap, yummy, and gives me an excuse to eat dessert (chocolate milkshakes) while eating dinner at the same time.
I’ve been to places like In and Out, and I just think P. Terry’s does it better. The burgers are juicier and more flavor and their fries are fresh and salted just right. I always order a milkshake with my meal, but their milkshakes for some reason always seem to be a little more frozen than I am used to. I always have to wait a while for it to melt before I can drink it with a straw. This is one of my favorite places to go when I am craving a cheap yet quality burger. I would recommend ordering 2 burgers or a double burger since the burgers are a little bit on the smaller side.
I hope they expand more so I can have P. Terry’s no matter where I am.

As a self proclaimed, super picky, judgemental burger elitist — I’d say that the burgers at P Terry’s are somewhat average. They don’t stand out in any way nor are they super cheap for their average-​ness. The main reason I still come here when I visit Austin is solely for sentimental reasons, as I remember the days I would come here after class to have a quick bite at the tables in the back. We also weren’t spoiled for choice back in the day and P Terry’s was near the top of the burger food chain. They haven’t really upped their game in the wake of In n Out, Shake Shack, Hopdoddy, and Luke’s Inside Out invading Austin, but they really really need to in my opinion…

I had heard some things about P Terry’s and how delicious their burgers were, and after my visit, I’m not very impressed. I ordered a cheeseburger w/​bacon & fries, just like everybody else I went with did. If you were/​are as hungry as I was, then you’d understand how delicious the first bite was for me. But after a couple of bites in… It was just mushy and not so good anymore. I’m a sucker for fries so even after I stopped eating my burger, I definitely kept munching on the yummy fries. Maybe I will try it again sometime in the future, but for now I will not be returning. Also. The bathrooms are disgusting.

We went here open really late… The fries were good my chicken sandwich on the other hand was a different story… the chicken was smushed like a patty of a burger and it was dry and not very good…
My friends got the burger on the other hand which they said it was amazing I was just unhappy with mine next time I’ll get a burger…
It take taste like in & out burger if u like in&out
Next time i will be ordering a burger!!!

I really like P. Terry’s. They make a solid product and they’re arguably the best of the chains.
Compared to other outlets, this one is above average! I’ve been by twice and the service has been decently fast, even with the crowds that it draws.
This place gets 4 stars on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below.
5 out of 5 stars: Come-​to-​Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a meal here.
4 out of 5 stars: Come-​to-​Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary.

2 out of 5 stars: Come-​to-​the-​Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here.

Has a similar style to in and out.
The burgers are cheaper.
I got a cheeseburger and fries. I would say the quality is good. Their vegetables were fresh and even though their fries were on the soggy side I really enjoyed it.
The place was spacious and clean. Has a cute ambience to it.
The order came out quick. The workers were kind.
I would recommend this place if you’re going for a quick bite with a friend and want to get full for cheap.

Pros:
–I like the sauce in their burgers. Order extra on the side for free– it’s great for dipping fries!
–they have sugar cane root beer!
–seating area is bright and a casual place to enjoy lunch or dinner
–fast service
–great shakes!
–all the items on the menu are very fairly priced!
Cons:
–It didn’t look or taste like the buns were toasted; they didn’t have a crunchy surface like In N Out’s burgers
–I’m not a big fan of the fries; They’re too tiny and flimsy to dip and get a large bite of potato.
–if you want pickles or onions, remember to ask for it!
–Overall, it was a very satisfying meal!

Lots of fries for the price. I got them just to try, but won’t anymore as they were thin and soggy, not crispy. Burger was pretty good, small though. Definitely recommend getting free onions and pickles. I love how inexpensive everything is. But I’ve had better fast food hamburgers. I do want to try the chicken and veggie burgers though; those may change my mind!

This place is the greatest.
This place tops in n out, shake shack and all the other mediocre/​overpriced burger joints.

I don’t understand how p terry is different or better then any of the other burger joints. What sets them apart from all the others?
I ordered a cheese burger all the way. It actually reminded me of in and out burger. They have a «secret sauce» pretty sure it’s thousand island.
My real beef with p Terry’s is they didn’t offer anything without carbs! I would have loved a healthier option!

Great burgers and prices that can complete with the golden arches. They give you a generous amount of fries, not 5 Guy generous, but still plenty. I recommend adding bacon, but that is general life advice, not just P Terry’s.
Also, spring for a shake on occasion, they are kinda magical. They still have an Austin vibe even though they are expanding. I’m here every few weeks for a reason.
