History

Established in 1985.

Illuminating Central Texas with professional lighting, theatrical equipment and design, Olden Lighting has assumed a unique position in the growing Austin-​based film and drama production community. We’ve helped define the stage, film, and video production industry in the Central Texas area as it expands its national and international reputation.

Olden Lighting is a leading Central Texas choice of independent film and production companies for rental and purchase of video/​film lighting and grip equipment. The company provides lighting packages for many independent low budget productions, including those of film school students and indie film producers, as well as national productions such as Spy Kids I, II, and III and those of MTV and ESPN.

Olden saved the day! I was in a pinch late on Friday and needed some custom gobos printed for Monday morning. Grace went above and beyond to get our gobos made that very evening! These folks have my full gratitude and I highly recommend them for any lighting needs.

Olden Lighting saved my tail about three weeks ago! I was in a panic needing some lighting for a runway fashion show benefit I was co-​chairing. Walter took the time to ask several key questions and then set me up with ideal lighting that was incredibly affordable. His employees walked me through exactly what I needed to do to set them up and they genuinely cared about making sure I knew what I was doing. I was a very small potatoes rental. But, they never made me feel that way. Walter checked in with me to make sure it all worked. And, I am so appreciative. I can’t say enough great things about Olden Lighting. Give them a shot for sure.

The folks at Olden Lighting are wonderful! They found my cat today! He had been missing for three weeks. They found him with his collar around his neck and head. They helped him out of it and fed him and took care of them until I could get over there to get him. Thank you so much! I have made a donation to the Austin Humane Society in their name since they wouldn’t accept a reward.

So I called Olden in a semi-​panic Friday at 4pm for some crazy gobo lighting system. They knew more than I did (not surprising in this instance), were totally efficient and aware and even gave me a setup lesson and an extra light.
These folks are the place to go for your lighting needs. They’re also totally convenient and out of traffic as well as being a hop skip and a jump away from vivo, el chilito and any number of east side eateries. So pick up your apparatus, get the instruction and then have a margarita to forget it all.
