The worst experience ever during tax time. When they were out of 1099 envelopes, I ordered more through them after they said they would get delivered to my office in a week(2 – 3 days before the tax deadline). This was not the case. A) The shipping time was different that the original time quoted to me, which when I called Office Depot, they told me basically that there wasn’t anything they could do and to call their hotline. This hotline was not helpful. They just didn’t want to deal with me anymore. B) Their processing office put the address in incorrectly, so it never even came in at the later time they said it would get here(Jan 30th). This doesn’t make any sense since the Shipping Address listed in the order was correct in the first place, wtf… NEVER order from Office Depot. The other office supply stores will definitely have it and with better customer service. The employees are obviously not on the same page with company procedures there and just want to take your money. Needless to say, I will not be using them ever again for our company needs.

Every time I visit Office Depot I receive the most amazing customer service. I was looking for a new printer to replace my HP5510. I really liked my 5510 but you can’t get it anymore and the newer models are bulkier and more complicated. I found a 5520(minor upgrade from 5510) in clearance still in the box for about 50% off the original retail price. I couldn’t be happier!

«How did you enjoy your experience today?» the check-out lady asked me as I was finally able to make my way to the check-out. You see I don’t go during lunch hour when everyone else is in there, I go well after lunch hour to miss all of the lookie-loos’s. Plenty of help at the front door to welcome you but no one to assist when looking for items. The check-outs are always under-manned and all it takes is ONE return item to throw a monkey wrench into the whole process. In my case it was a return and someone who wanted certain items on 3 different cards. YES, the manager comes over to the register and punches in a code then promptly walks off as 6 customers are standing. The poor«office services» printing girl wanted to help but she’s trying to help with a purchase and an order from someone who needs printing services. I’m pretty easy going so I go my happy little zen place and chill our but the folks around me weren’t so fortunate. «How did you enjoy your experience today?» she wanted to know… time to go to the WEWANTTOHEARFROMYOU survey code on my receipt.

From the outside it does no look to fresh and inviting, but the inside of the store has been remodeled. I like this store since it does carry a wide variety of products without having to visit their website. My goal is to buy another laptop chain lock of which I had purchased on about a year ago. Upon browsing around a sales guy came to help me and ask what I was looking for and he scratched his head and walked me to the luggage locks. I tried to explain to him what I was looking for and swear I got it here or at least another Office Depot. He even got on his radio and asked the store manager and she said they do not carry it in the store. Oh well, I said I’ll browse around and he was sorry about not having the lock. I end up making my way to the laptop accessories isle and sure enough there it is. I guess I have to educate the staff here so while making my way to checkout I see the same sales guy and showed him and he gave that Jeff Spicoli(Sean Penn) from«Fast Times at Ridgemont High» oh yea phrase and said«Your the man.» I told him where I found it and hopefully the next person does not have to do inventory for the staff.

After a few years where Office Depot lost its way, this store has come roaring back with a vengeance, especially when it comes to having the right item at the right time with the right price. Much earlier in the year, I bought a micro-cut shredder here at half-off. That same night, their staff helped me score a pair of name-brand 23″ monitors for a ridiculous price of $ 125 apiece through arrangements with a sister store that had the inventory in stock. And just this past weekend, I was able to find exactly the set of Holiday 2012 postage stamps I wanted on a Sunday afternoon. What’s special about that? Just the previous afternoon, the line at the Oak Hill station would have entailed an hour’s wait, and I was in and out of here in five minutes. That alone endeared this store to me. I will most definitely be back!

Office Depot apparently keeps prices down by minimizing labor. And all of the labor is huddled at the front of the store whenever I visit. So I walk around and around, swiveling my head all around, like someone lost in a jungle full of dangerous creatures. And when I finally find what I need, it seems like only one employee has a key to a register. Why do I go back? Because I got suckered into OD’s loyalty program. But I’ve been fighting for almost a year to get my ~$ 30 loyalty reward. It’s enough to drive me to Office Max.

Office Depot is a great place to not only get the stationary you need but it’s also a great place to pick up a new printer, some wireless networking accessories or just grab some random massive assortment of office cleaning supplies. The staff here is pretty knowledgeable although admittedly they can be a little hard to track down sometimes. The prices are always cheaper on sale items than the other options but the regular prices are generally higher than other places like Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. The location is convenient to all of the major freeways and parking is always plentiful. They offer a number of services from copies to computer repair and more. Not a bad place to equip your office like James Bond.

We had our wedding programs to print, and not a lot of time to waste. We needed them on vellum paper, and lots of places we called wouldn’t print on vellum, even the other Office Depots in Austin. But the printing guy at this Office Depot would! And he did! He did a great job, pulling our document off a flash drive, making sure none were smeared, and getting the project done in the time it took us to grab lunch at Red Robin nearby. I was so impressed, I filled out a glowing review on a comment card.
