I always love Odd Duck everytime I come here! The service is 10⁄10. Everyone’s super sweet. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Parking is easy. And the food is to rave about. It’s always unique and delicious.

First time coming here. Very interesting concepts! If you are expecting your«typical» American dining choices, then this might not be the place for you. Better suited for people who are more open to trying new foods. We got here an hour before dinner time(5 pm) and we were told that they only offer snacks until dinner time. We were not interested in snacks so we waited till it was dinner time. FOOD: — You are served small portions, which is just like farm-to-table dinners — Most items are locally sourced(so the menu does not stay the same) — My orders were: ‘Pig face’ — it’s a bread roll with pieces of pork and horseradish mustard. It was soft, warm, and tasted pretty darn good! One roll isn’t enough. ‘Smoked pizza pie’ — not bad. Liked the ranch dressing. The hot sauce on the pizza is a bit spicy. The combination of mushrooms and the other veggies was interesting. Tasted better with the dressing. Without the dressing, it’s on the dry side because there is no sauce on the crust. Not sure I would order this again. ‘Ice cream’ — It contains toasted almonds. Tasted very good minus the extra sprinkled sea salt. I had no idea that salt was sprinkled on top so bits of it were salty. — My friend order the ‘Fried chicken’: She had every piece of the meal separated and only ate the chicken. She liked it. The chicken was very crispy and crunchy. The egg salad was nasty. The pickled green bean wasn’t bad. — The appetizers were 50% off from 5pm to 6:30pm CUSTOMERSERVICE: — Just great! — The door greeter was patient and friendly when we first walked in — They are baby-friendly: Immediately they noticed my friend came with her baby, they provided a high chair as we were being seated. — Our waiter explained the menu in full detail and gave recommendations MISCELLANEOUS: — During the last hour(5:30−6:30pm), there were so many people coming in. — As we walked out, we noticed the parking lot was full. — They offer complimentary valet parking. The only thing I did not like was I would rather have them close between 2:30 and 5pm. I had no idea that they were not serving any entrees during that timeframe. Could have came later. Will I return back? Definitely! I am all for patronizing a restaurant that supports local small farmers and strives to cook their food from scratch and as fresh as much as possible. Compared to restaurants that serve pre-frozen food, use produce that was shipped more than 2000 miles away, factory-farmed animals, tin canned food, or strawberries that was sprayed with 50 different toxic pesticides.

We lucked out coming for happy hour on a Sunday. Got in right before six and was one of the last people seated at the bar without a reservation. Whew! Happy hour is a good deal here as the top chunk of their menu is half off and beer and wine is as well. My husband was super excited to see a Prairie beer on tap and I ordered a delicious watermelon/mezcal cocktail. We started with a couple of the Parker House Rolls. Don’t miss out on these. The warm roll is a perfect casing for the delicious pig face inside. We also had them bring us the daily taco, which ended up being the best chimichanga I have ever had in my life. After leaving the restaurant, we continued to talk and dream about this taco. It was that good. The delicious food kept coming from the green tomato and masa fritters to the out of this world Wagyu beef dish. Servers would basically bring out a dish and we’d clear the plate in minutes as we could not get enough! We finished dinner with a tiny but perfect ice cream sammie with honeycomb chunks. The bartender also sent us a scoop of the best sorbet ever. It was sweet and crisp and the perfect end to our meal. Odd Duck is one of the restaurants that just blows you away. From the relaxing atmosphere to the employees who obviously love the place and the food, you can’t go wrong. We left completely blown away, talking about the food the entire drive home. I can’t wait to return!

OVERALL Great service(though he raved about some dishes that we didn’t think were amazing, like the Sweet Potato), beautifully plated food. Outside seating was nice, especially next to their herbs! We did get some gnats from being by the plants though. COST $ 289.96 total for six. On the pricier, though not extravagant, side. THEFOOD My friends overall found Odd Duck’s dishes to be overly salted, but I really enjoyed the food! I guess if you’re sensitive to over-salting, take my ratings with a «grain of salt». 4 stars(in order of appearance on the menu): * Pancho & Lefty(mezcal cocktail, $ 11, very smoky & spicy) * Stardust(cocktail, $ 11, great & herby) * Parker House Roll, pig face, mustard($ 9 for three) * Snapper Ceviche($ 11) — one of the dishes with complaints of over-salting, though I liked it! And I don’t usually like ceviche. * Shrimp & Avocado Salad($ 12) — this was universally enjoyed. * Masa Fried Green Tomato($ 11) — complaints of over-salting, but I thought the flavor was great, and the crunch from the fried green tomatoes was spot-on. Pickled corn was a great addition. * Pork Belly, Cheddar Rice Cake($ 13) * Duck Egg($ 15) — complaints of over-salting on this one. * Doughnut($ 6) 3.5 stars: * Sweet Potato($ 8) — lots of complaints of over-salting on this one. I thought it was fine. * Smoked Fun-Guy Pie($ 12) — too spicy for a lot of us! * Wagyu Ribeye($ 29) 3 stars: Cucumber Sorbet, lavender, coconut, mint($ 3) See my photos for additional details!

Our time in Austin was short and there are so many great places to choose from, so I’m happy to report that Odd Duck was a stellar first dinner in the city. We had a reservation and our table was ready on time, but because we decided to eat outside, we had to wait an extra 5 – 10 minutes. The porch is quite large and has a great, fun ambiance. The parker house roll was a great little appetizer to get the meal going. Reuben pizza sounded pretty random so we decided to go for and I’m glad we did! It was a good combo and a pretty decent sized portion. Fried chicken wasn’t bad but forgettable. Duck egg fried rice was delicious and filling. Would definitely order that again. Drinks were also good, no complaints there. I’ve taken one star off because although the service was incredibly friendly, it was also veerrryyyyy slow. We actually thought she totally forgot about us and our drinks because it took so long for them to come out. Overall, though, a good experience!

Love, love, loved Odd Duck. Everything from atmosphere to food to wine list to cocktails and service was top notch. Great date night — sit at the bar! Seasonal, ever-changing inventive menu. Service: great bartender /waiter who gave us tastes of wine and cocktails, generous pours and honest recommendations on the menu. Sit at the bar! Food — must orders: + Duck egg with duck ham(!!) and mushroom — surprising favorite of the night. Just try it + Sourdough — homemade, warm and perfectly crusty. $ 7 seemed steep but was quickly forgotten + Waygu ribeye — enough said. Blown away by the onion beef powder Food — meh: + Shrimp and avocado salad: Unilocalers raved about this… Didn’t do it for me. I was expecting light but this was heavy and creamy.

Overall, it was good, but not great. I appreciate the attention to detail, the service and the knowledge of the staff. Top notch. The mini plates they give you to eat off of are tea saucers and are ridiculous to eat off of. At least a 6 or 7 inch plate would be better. The food was mostly good, well put together and thought out. We tried the sweet potatoes which were a crowd fave and my fave, excellent flavors. I only got to eat like three pcs split between two others at my table though. Pork belly was good, fried green tomato and masa too. The redfish was tiny for $ 17 and was lacking flavors. Fried chicken was too spicy and the green beans were over pickled. The chicken quality was excellent though, but I couldnt appreciate it due to the damn spice. I had the buttermilk ice cream sandwich for dessert which was good except it had some crunchy bits that tasted like fish! No. I won’t have a desire to come back here. But it was worth trying once.

Hands down this was the best brunch I’ve ever had! I would highly recommend reservations, lots of others already know how good this place is. We were seated at a lovely table on the outdoor deck with a fabulous city skyline view. Our server was awesome, he suggested drinks, plates and even the perfect amount of food for our party of five. We started our morning with some specialty cocktails: Split decision, beet ‘n bloody, corpse revivor, and a specialty barrel aged cocktail… they were all amazing. They then brought a tray of fresh baked goods and we shared a lemon tart which was delicious. We ordered 8 dishes to share and they were delivered in a perfectly timed manner. Each dish was unique and the serving sizes were very generous. My all time fave was the beet tot hash, but then again everything was so good I didn’t really have a favorite. Here’s a brief idea of what we enjoyed; I’m sure it’s a constantly changing menu that will be equally as tasty: Smoked fish with Baguette, egg, kale & avocado Fried Brussels sprouts with a soft scramble Drunk beans w/smoked chicken Kohlrabi pancake w/pork belly, strawberry jerk glaze & egg Beet tot hash, goat, fennel, brown butter hollandaise & egg Duck sausage croissant toast coffee jam blue cheese & egg Pancake battered quail, spicy maple egg foam & hot sauce Nothing odd about this place, just extraordinarily wonderful!

About a year ago, we had dinner at the Admiral in Asheville, North Carolina. The Admiral is housed in a former milltown barroom. Now, like a bunch of US restaurants, it’s an upscale-casual farm-to-table small-plates deal, but, dollar for dollar, about the best one we’ve encountered. Because that meal was so great and such an absurdly good value, pretty much any meal we had during the next year that had any aspiration toward the gourmet was a disappointment by comparison: Either the food didn’t measure up, or it was too friggin’ expensive. Or, as was more often the case, both. The Admiral damn near ruined dining out for us. Then a few weeks ago we walked into Odd Duck in Austin, reservation in hand. I don’t know if the Admiral has met its match in Odd Duck, but its Austin counterpart, following a similar dining concept, sure enough had us all googly-eyed about eating out again after we walked out. Odd Duck looks like a 1990s-era fancy«diner» from the outside, but the inside features a homey, woody, more rustic and very comfortable feel. Probably half of the restaurant’s seats are arranged around a diner counter where you can watch the staff at work. Watching line cooks at various stations assembling the menu’s dishes – and the plates being expedited – was quite fun. Our lead server was Erin, and she was thoroughly great at her job. Upon finding out that we were Odd Duck first-timers, she had a few food and drink suggestions for us. On the surface, this might have seemed like up-selling, but her genuinely friendly and personable demeanor indicated that she was just wanted to highlight the best the restaurant had to offer. First up, at Erin’s recommendation, was the draft paloma, an on-the-money call. I’m not a huge cocktail drinker, and when I order them, I usually like ‘em with brown liquor as the base.(I don’t even like margaritas much.) But this paloma came with tequila blanco, grapefruit, ginger, and salt foam, and, Holy Baby Bejeebus, was it delicious. And only five bucks at Happy Hour.(Later we had a glass of wine and a beer.) Next was a carnitas taco, which was also a special: Housemade tortillas, wonderful carnitas with just a bit of sear on it, and some other ingredients I can’t remember, although I think there was some griddled sweet-potato-tot in there somewhere. Also fantastic. The rest of our meal came from the regular seasonal menu: –Parker house rolls were only $ 1.50 at Happy Hour and had a little ball of headcheese inside. Great idea perfectly executed. –Rye toast, shrimp and avocado salad, radish, mustard seed: This was the only dish all evening that, while fine and fresh, didn’t really pop. –Spiced carrots with carrot curry, beer nuts, cilantro:(Yeah, it leaned a bit Indian.) One of three carrot dishes we had in Texas in four nights. All were superb. –Grilled redfish with pork posole verde, tortilla chips, & sour cream – a beautiful and delicious plate of food that might have been just a hair too salty. –Braised goat on masa with lime mayo, peanut pipian, queso fresco: Like the best damn memelita or huarache(or whatever these masa creations might be called In a given region) I ever had. We almost never order dessert because we’re usually too full and just think it won’t be worth the money, anyway. Odd Duck has a great idea with its dessert menu: In addition to regular dessert portions, it offers two or three items in tiny portions at tiny prices. A dewberry sorbet and a tiny strawberry ice cream sandwich, at only $ 3 each, were both great, and were all we needed. Overall, just the epitome of what this farm-to-table concept should be about: Incorporating local ingredients and regional influences to create a memorable and superlative dining experience you could have only in this locality. And it set us back just a hair over a hundred bucks, drinks, tax, and tip included. That’s just phenomenal. I don’t write all that many five-star reviews. This one’s a no-brainer.

This place was out of control good! We went to brunch kind of hungover and it was sounding cray… cabbage pancakes? Cheese foam? Wtf? But our friend who is a chef had been many times before and it was amazing. The duck sausage was delicious! The soft shell crab was to die for! Will be back!

Hubby and I stopped in on a whim for a drink. I was delighted with the atmosphere and the service! You can tell they really take pride in the beverages and food they serve. We ended up ordering a pork head stuffed bun that was out of this world! Can’t wait to go back for a full meal in the future!

Good local hipster vibe with a constantly changing tapas style Menu. Great happy hour deals if you can get a table. If anything has Pork Belly involved — do that without question. The Redfish tacos were par excellence however the craft cocktails have too much going on. I had a very complex super blended hard rootbeer«thing» and it was odd. Drank half and went standard pour route. Great food overall. Will be back!

Great little find in Austin. It was so cute(inside and out). The restaurant was right up my alley. The name doesn’t lie. It’s odd, but in a good way. The goat cheese and strawberry was definitely my favorite. I found the toast with avocado and shrimp a little hard to eat. And I had to try to bread because I’m a bread fanatic. It was good, but nothing to write home about and ours was totally missing the cheese that was supposed to be in it. We only got to choose off of the menu in between lunch and dinner, which is hardly anything. The wine was decent and the service was alright. I’ll totally be back for dinner!

What an amazing meal. I went with 4 other friends and had a great time. I can literally say I tried every dish on the menu. The waitress suggested we get at least 10 dishes with our party size so we decided to get everything! Seems wild but it turned out to be the perfect amount of food. I found every dish to be so creative(Ruben Pizza!). I would go over each dish we had but it is my understanding that the menu changes often. I think this is great because, you know ingredients are fresh and in season. All I can say is trust that no matter what you get it will be good. Our waitress was attentive without being annoying which is important to me. I loved how the atmosphere. It really had a quaint fram-y vibe while still being modern.

As we were pulling into Austin for the weekend, searched Unilocal for a good dinner spot and we found Odd Duck. It ended up being a great selection. Unilocal mentioned about making reservations, but we pulled in to valet hoping to grab a table. We had a couple options, first come seating on the front porch or at the bar. We selected a small table out front and began the adventure. Pretty extensive list of wine and beers. I select an Austin brewed cider and my wife got a local beer similar to a Blue Moon. The menu options are a great deal like tapas. We selected a couple appetizers and a few main plates. The menu changes frequently just by looking at what folks are posting on Unilocal. The best recommendation would be the goat cheese cracker with onion and the fried chicken with egg salad. We both had a dessert that included a bread pudding and a chocolate ice cream sandwich. It was a good spot and didn’t feel rushed. Great service and easy parking with the comp valet. Give it a try.

This review is for happy hour only. We came to Odd Duck at 2:45pm, during that weird time between lunch and dinner. We were a little bummed to find out they stopped serving lunch, but they still had a small happy hour menu to choose from. Happy Hour drink deals are pretty good! $ 5 Palomas(amazing tequila cocktail, light and refreshing and perfect for a warm afternoon), half-price large format bottles of beer. The Paloma may be one of my all-time favorite cocktails in Austin. Food choices were good, but I wish there were a few more choices… We were hungry so we got the bread with house-churned butter($ 7, half a loaf served toasted, butter was fresh, good for sharing with 3 people or so), the parker house roll($ 3 each, absolutely amazing, definitely get this!), and the rye toast with shrimp and avocado salad($ 12, tasty, but small for the price). The parker house rolls with pig face(sounds scary, but it’s not trust me!) were the highlight. Love the bread and the meat was so tasty and scrumptious I could have eaten three of them. Service was great, we sat at the bar and they were very friendly.

It’s kind of funny — I had heard these great things about Odd Duck, and it was always packed when we drove by but when I looked up their menu, it didn’t sound that interesting. Don’t be fooled — it is one of Austin’s best dining experiences(in my humble yet pretty educated opinion). We went for a special dinner with visiting family and it was way better than the hype! Service was great, they had a whole menu for gluten intolerant folks, and the food was phenomenal. We started with the Parker House Roll(roll, pig face and mustard) which was awesome but definitely did NOT go with my Cold Shoulder cocktail. Finished the Cold Shoulder and armed myself with a nice glass of wine for the rest of our meal. Next up we had the Spiced Carrots and Shrimp and avocado salad, followed by the Sweet Potatoes. These were three of the stand out dishes of the evening and I would consider them Must Orders! Bold flavors, tantalizing combinations, and lots of variety — aka heaven! We moved on to the Fried Rice(pretty good but I wanted the egg yolk to be runny), Pork Belly(yum! Second favorite of the meat dishes), Braised Goat(the best of the meat dishes), the Duck and the Wagyu Ribeye. By the end I was pretty stuffed and flavors were starting to run together a bit but everything we had was good. I still enjoyed the first 3 small plates the best though. We followed up with dessert(coffee ice cream, cream filled donut, and ice cream sandwich respectively) and happily waddled our way out to our chariot. Odd Duck far surpassed my expectations in terms of flavor, inventiveness with our courses, and great service. If you read the menu and think«Egh… Farm to table yada yada yada… Insert generic feel good food hype here», ignore that cynical voice in your head and try it. I’m sure you will be happily surprised. Also, they have COMPLIMENTARY valet parking! Thanks Odd Duck! So classy and appreciated!

Went for lunch and had a great time. The staff there is super friendly and explain everything on the menu as well as give their recommendations. The cocktails are fruity and smooth. The ambience of this place is very trendy and«girls who brunch.» There are seats in door as well as their closed in outdoor patio. The menu is super small and everything is farm to table so it does change with the seasons. We started with a draft Paloma($ 8) which is a fruity tequila drink with grape fruit, tarragon, ginger, and salt foam. Really smooth and tasty. We each started with one Parker house roll($ 3 each) which were delicious and a must try. I would like to go here and just sit at the bar and eat these. It’s pork cheek in dough with sesame seeds(like a soft pretzel). We also tried the kale salad($ 12) with smoked chicken and pecans which was very fillin and the lamb meatloaf sandwich($ 13) with sweet potato salad on top. Everything was delish and the service was great! No room for dessert. Super reasonable lunch prices! Brunch and dinner are small plates

The lunch menu is fantastic and affordable. Oftentimes I find farm-to-table to be gimmicky, but Odd Duck uses their fresh, local ingredients inventively and, more importantly, well. Four of us shared the Parker House roll, beet tater tots, fried fish sandwich, burger, and cream filled donut for a satisfying meal. Everything was very good, but the fried fish sandwich, beet tater tots, and donut were definitely stand outs. The burger was a bit salty, but the patty was some of the best burger meat I’ve had in a while. The menu isn’t afraid of playing with flavors, particularly acidity, for a wildly successful payoff. The outdoor patio was such a lovely place to dine on a breezy spring day, and the service was so friendly.

— BOTTOMLINE: **Make a reservation: we waited over an hour for our table. But, the staff was so amazingly accommodating and checked back outside on us often(and took our cocktail orders often). After 2 days of eating every meal in a parking lot, we decided to class up our night with a meal at Odd Duck. It was the best choice we could make — delicious, innovative small plates that still kept its roots in coziness and familiarity. — THESPACE: Big and spacious — if the weather’s good, please ask to sit on their deck! We were sat at a bigger table with another couple, so if that matters to you make sure to ask for a solo table ahead of time. — THEFOOD: Some of the food we got, in the order of what we loved. There were three of us and we ordered around 10 dishes, but your number will definitely vary depending on how big the dishes are(the farther you are in the menu, the bigger the dishes) and how hungry you are. Favorites were the veggie dishes — barely healthy, but I needed all the fiber I could get. A true testament to how great they can make something simple like broccoli. + spiced carrots + braised goat + fried quail + seared duck + confit — + parker house roll + cheezy broccoli + doughnuts for dessert Their menu changes often! We let our waitress choose most of our small plates and were not led astray. Also I drank approximately 4 draft palomas, so it’s safe to say their cocktails are quite good.

The ambiance is cute with a farm to table type of feel. This place gets packed and my friends and I came in at the best time, happy hour which is until 630p. With happy hour the top part of the menu is half off. Their plates are appetizer size and meant to share with others on the table. Their menu also changes often so some things won’t always be available. My top 2 food items are the pig face parker rolls and the sweet potato. The pig face is more a shredded pork which is flavored, sweet and savory inside of a roll. Reminds me of Asian baos but using a roll instead. Sweet potato is griddle cooked so sweet, soft yet salty since it was cooked on a pan and then topped with fried I think skins of the sweet potato which gives it a crunch and saltiness to the dish. We also got battered fried pickles over duck egg salad, which was okay and surprising since I imagined that it would be salty due to being pickles but it was good with the duck egg salad. We also got the lamb sausage dishes. One being a pizza and the other a pasta. The lamb sausage was too salty making the dishes salty. The pizza had sour kraut which I didn’t care for and made it saltier. I liked the crushed potato chips on top though. 2 thumbs down to that lamb sausage though. Overall the food is salty. It’s probably just me not liking too salty food though. The service was good and fast though.

Was not sure how I felt about the city of Austin until I came here. What. A. Gem. First off all, the atmosphere rocks. Very laid back, totally unpretentious for how awesome the joint is, and the bar/wait staff are very cool. I got there right at 5 before they opened and there were already about 15 people waiting outside. I’m in town for business, and they have a nice, big bar which is perfect for solo dining. Also, a gorgeous open kitchen so it got to see the pizza oven magic happen real-time. The premise of the menu is small(ish) plates to share. I ordered 3 different things and left very full. All the food is locally sourced, so I believe the menu is constantly changing. I highly recommend the duck, oddly enough.(Possibly a bad joke?) Beers are cheap too! Stellar joint, if I ever come back to Austin, this place is first on my list. And second. And Third.

AUSTIN, TX: I came, I ate, I wept tears of joy. The adjective that comes to mind when thinking about the dishes is MERCILESS: The food is Mercilessly good! Wave by wave it comes on small dishes, just pummeling your senses with euphoria! I was falling off my chair! Remember the ride«Space Mountain» at Disneyland? It’s the roller coaster inside a building; in the dark. You know you are on a thrill ride, but half the fun is not knowing which way it is about to turn? That is how it felt to partake of each dish at Odd Duck: they place the dish in front of you, you see a lot of ingredients and know it will be good, but then you place a bite in your mouth and whoooosh! It takes your senses on unexpected wonderful turns and surprises you repeatedly! I tried the smoked redfish(5+ stars), the jerk pork belly(5 stars), the duck(5 stars) the deep fried pickles(5 stars) and the sweet potato(5 stars). Unbelievable. I cannot wait to return!

Odd duck is what I would picture fine dining to be like in Austin– rustic and casual, with the friendliest service, and deliciously crafted food. The small plate experience is a great concept that lets you try all the different creations and leave with the perfect amount of fullness. Their cocktails and drink choices were tempting, but for this special night we brought our own wine and took the $ 20 corkage fee. Our choices for the night: Broccoli– mmm tasty and salty, but not overwhelming Pickled cauliflower– one of my favorites, excellently paired with the delicious duck egg salad Pappardelle– lamb sausage in this dish was mm mm good and hearty Braised goat– reminded me of tamales, but delicious ones Duck– the king of the night, living up to the restaurant name I guess Apple butter cake– a nice rich dessert For 2 people, this was definitely enough food! Would love to try the other dishes on the menu sometime. Thanks odd duck for this wonderful experience!

This would be a 4 star review, but it must be a 3 because of the attitude from the hostess. Came here for Brunch on Sunday, little mimosa action(who am I kidding, A Lot of mimosa action) before my day of football began. Walked in and put our name on the list, hostess was acting as if my one and only question (can we post up at the bar?) was me asking for her kidney. They had about 10 empty seats at the bar, actually empty tables all around. Put my name down, ordered two drinks while we wait, 20 minutes later, another lady comes by asking if we would like to place a drink order, fast forward to 30 minutes, grab a seat at the bar still without original drinks… other girl goes, «ill go check on them»… I’m all like, «we’re good, just going to order the bottle now» Then she is all like. «ok ill go bring those two mimosas out right away»… Woman! I said no, no means no… leave me alone to order my bottle from the efficient bartender. Bartender was super cool, and informative about the current brunch menu. Grab a bottle of champs, they have seasonal juices, get the pumpkin spice juice if you can! Ordered some grilled quail, these were tasty little treats, perfectly battered, right amount of fat. Ordered the calzone, this actually had some fruit inside it, it was charred on the outside perfectly. I still couldn’t get past whatever fruit was mixing with my cheese, spinach, and bacon… Ordered the egg in a hole.(skip that!) it was a piece of bread with a circle cut out of it and an egg placed inside that was overcooked. One side note, it came with some slices of duck, this duck was amazing! Maybe just see if you can get the duck and save yourself from toast on a plate for 13 bucks… I absolutely love the bar set-up here, the space is designed very well, and is about as inviting as any spot can be. Awesome music playing. All in all, I will give it another chance, but service is paramount at this type of establishment, or in Austin in general… specially for the price range. This city thrives on the service industry, no idea how the hostess can keep her job…
