Every human being is born with the potential to enjoy music-​making throughout life, but it is their experience during early childhood that can determine whether that potential is reached!

Music Together is an internationally recognized, research-​based program that offers infants, toddlers, preschoolers and the adults that love them a chance to enjoy their natural birthright as musical beings. In our classes you’ll wiggle, giggle and bond with your child as you make music together, and will leave confident in your ability to continue the experience at home.

The Music Together curriculum builds on your child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement and helps your child develop the basic musical skills needed to enjoy a life of music, school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she ever choose to do so.

We offer classes in Central Austin, Cedar Park, Brushy Creek, Round Rock, Steiner Ranch, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Oak Hill, and Georgetown.

History

Established in 2007.

In its fourth year, 2011, Music Forever Music Together went through a big change, solidifying its current team of fun and highly skilled teachers. Each one is dedicated specifically to excellence in presenting the Music Together curriculum and to giving personal attention to the needs of each individual student and family within the context of the musical, social, cognitive, kinesthetic, and linguistic development that the classes support. Together, Lindsay, Kate, and Becky offer their classes in 10 parent-​child locations and even more preschools in the greater Austin area. These 3 women support each other’s growth and success as teachers, and (along with director/​founder Michael Shay) engage in ongoing teacher development through various training opportunities, workshops, and studies in music, movement, education, and child development.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Native Austinite, founder/​director Michael Shay (B.A. Music– Prescott College) grew up in a musical household. He attributes his musical abilities to growing up in a music-​filled environment. As a baby, toddler, and pre-​schooler, he sat with his mother as she taught piano lessons, soaking up music day after day for years. Later, he learned cello, piano, guitar, and bass, played in orchestras, and studied at the Austin Chamber Music Center, where he later became a teacher.

After years teaching students of all ages, in many genres of music, on many different instruments, he believes that the role of all music educators is to help others access our natural musicality and unlock our innate creativity. Understanding the immeasurable impact that the first years of life have on musical development led Michael to want to invest in a more musical world for future generations by sharing music around the world, and by helping Kate, Becky and Lindsay offer the Music Together curriculum in Austin.
