Specialties

MOVE Austin Fitness is cross training for the everyday person with a focus on improving overall functionality. We promise to improve the functional strength, mobility, and fitness of the members of our community without overtraining, ultimately fostering healthier, happier lifestyles. By incorporating periodized training, based on three cycles (strength, capacity, and stamina), we are able to train our members to get the results they’re hoping for without the injuries they’re afraid of.

History

Established in 2011.

MOVE Austin Fitness started out as an outdoor bootcamp in the heart of Central Austin, in Reed Park. Katy Duggan-Freshour, the co-owner and founder of MOVE, had a passion to get her parents fit, as well as the community she grew up in. «Roo» and «Pop,» Katy’s parents, are still active in the MOVE community and have lost over fifty pounds together since the «park days!»

As a fifth-generation Austinite and Tarrytownian :), Katy knew Reed Park was the perfect spot to get people moving! With a growing community behind her, Katy and her husband, Jarrod, expanded MOVE in 2012 and opened up an indoor location down the street from their original bootcamp, in the Tarrytown Center.

This «mom and pop shop» has turned into a première fitness facility with an exceptional coaching staff and results driven programming. MOVE’s history is still important to them, and they are proud to say that every one of their «Founding Movers» is still there today and getting serious results!
