It’s a divey, old Austin type of spot… Bridgette does a cool karaōke on Thursdays from 8−12a.good for a school nite. And they are usually selling home cooked food too and the drinks are really reasonable… I like this spot. I am praying it doesn’t get overrun by «hipsters» who are devouring everything that’s still underground cool… we all know what follows then.

I’ve been to the Moose lodge a few times for bellydance shows on Friday nights. The building itself is in need of repair, but the shows are so fun to watch and they are always really entertaining! There is a full-​service bar onsite with friendly staff and customers. The bellydance shows are awesome, the dancers are friendly, and the costumes & props vary based on theme and music along with the holiday… making this a super fun way to spend an evening with friends & family. There is no cover charge, but tips for the dancers are appreciated to help pay for the use of the venue. There are also usually some vendors set up with costumes, jewelry, shoes, and trinkets! All in all, a great time!

We went in here last night for karaōke with a friend and members of the club. The people were very friendly and welcoming, so welcoming that when we asked the cook Duke if there were any desserts on the menu he went in to the kitchen, surveyed his ingredients, and came out asking if we knew what beignet were! That’s right, Duke made us a batch of beignets on the house (for everyone there) just because I had a craving for sugar — and they were yummy! My only complaint is that because it’s private club smoking is a-​ok and I’m very sensitive. So I might be back on slow nights, but it won’t be a regular thing for me.

This would be my favorite place to throw parties, if they fixed up and modernized just a leeeeetle bit.
The prices are right at the bar and for facility rental, especially if you’re a member, or know someone who is.
The inside is not much to speak of, unfortunately. It’s what you’d expect from an old lodge. Lots of pictures of people who are likely dead. Needless to say, it could use some updating. The sound system works fine, and the lighting reminds me of an old skating rink. Lots of space to dance or have a meeting or dinner.
Where this place really shines is it’s outdoor area. There’s a lovely back porch (which can double as a stage) and a great back yard. Plus, if you can get them to let you use the back 40, there’s a wonderful space with lots of trees and it backs up to the golf course, so you won’t bother the neighbors.
So get to know the Moose in your life, and have them introduce you to this blast from the past.

The Moose and it’s upstanding members graciously open their doors to music and events working outside the tired retro Red River and downtown scenes. I agree with the other posters. Seeing a show at the Moose 1735 transports someone like me back to the time places like this were the only way to get exposed to cutting edge underground noise like back between in my case ’67-’83 before cool was something you could buy. All with smiling faces, DIY attitude, decent drinks, tons of free parking free of low dragworm types who want to jack with your wheels. Not to mention their century of good deed doing.

Whoo-​boy, this was a weird place.
So when I was like, seventeen, eighteen, I was totally boy crazy and would drive with all of my boy crazy friends to St. Louis every other weekend to go see a bunch of hardcore and metal shows and giggle at drummers. Sometimes these were held in someone’s grandma’s basement, sometime they were the all-​ages shows at the Creepy Crawl sometimes these were held in the Czech Community Center (And YES, St. Louis, I KNOW I have that name wrong.). There’d be some mildly-​confused, middle aged bartenders looking over droves of kids in black hoodies and Misfits tattoos. There’d be long tables and folding chairs. Smoking would be allowed indoors but there wouldn’t be any windows. It was a certain time in my life.
ANYWAY so last night, those days came roaring back. I’ll give you one thing, the Moose Lodge has some serious parking. I think’s actually situated on some pretty grounds, but it was 10pm when I was there. Immediatly you have to sign in as a guest of an Official Moose Lodge Member and carry around a masking tape badge for the rest of the night. I won’t go into the bands I saw, but I will go into the broken bottles on the bathroom floor — namely, who the fuck is responsible around here? I understand a bunch of hipsters show up at your family fun joint and decide, «Aw fuck it, let Rome burn,» but did no one even think to notify anyone with a broom? I’m broken glass, is all.
The large part of the bar is in.. .well, the actual bar section of the Lodge, with only a third available to one room. There were two chill bartenders on the chill side, and one slightly-​manic looking, overlooked guy who I kept wanting to somehow help on the show side. They ran out of everything. My friend Fran was thankfully sharp enough to just fuck it, order eight Shiner Blacks at once and never stand in that line again. Then we sat back down at our indoor bingo tables, had our butts stick to the plastic seating and subconciously started scanning for the punch bowl and/​or the cutest new widower with the snazzy plaid bow tie.
I used to miss rando-​all-​ages shows and all their rando-​locations. This place just made me wish I was at Rio Rita.

I heard about «The Moose Lodge» way before I moved to Austin. I totally thought my leg was being pulled, but nope. It’s a real place.
I was here today for a baby shower of all things. There is a nice tree covered area with ample room for a large party. This is the most outside time I’ve had since moving to Austin. It could well be the most outside time I have had in years. I’m still picking leaves out of my hair.
I did enter the lodge and my meager vocabulary cannot accurately convey the experience, but I shall try.
There’s a moose head!!! I don’t know why that actually surprised me. I have family from Montana for godsakes, but I was taken aback. But the disco ball and the picture of a child praying that CLEARLY lights up took me to whatever is right behind ‘aback’.
I am about 99% certain you have to be a member here to even be here or be a guest (like I was) of a lodge member. So I wouldn’t just go waltzing in demanding to see a moose, disco ball, and light up child praying pic.
Ohhh, then there is a wall of ‘Governors’. Did you know the Governor of 1966 was hot? He was. All those before and all those since were totally fugly, but Mr. 1966 was a veritable Don Drapper. Okay, I am given to exaggeration, but he was cute. I’m sure he’s dead now. That’s sad.
Anyway, Moose Lodge. I can say I’ve been. I know that Peel played here last month and now I wish I had gone so I could explore more. You just feel like you want to explore this place. If Peel plays here again, I’m in. Or if Nicole L. has another shower here and invites me ;-)

I’m not a member of the Moose lodge, nor do I know anyone that is a member of the Moose lodge, yet I have been to the Moose lodge twice in the last month. I would like to become a member of the Moose lodge, and when I drink enough there I start asking around to see how to make this happen. They have shows there often, but the normal crowd still hangs out. They take my credit card, and pour me good drinks. They have a big screen tv that overstimulates us to the point of fear. They don’t mind when I wear shirts with the fuck word on it, and they have something called Women of the Moose, while not appealing to my feminist side, makes me long feel like I should buy pies from them. When I see the old people sitting around, drinking, telling stories and being awesome, I see my future.
