Gerbils are wonderful pets for nearly all ages, families and even classrooms.

Cedar Moon Gerbils is a small hobby breeder of Mongolian Gerbils, located in the Cedar Park region of Austin, Texas. We’re registered with the American Gerbil Society and frequently have gerbils available to adopt.

Our philosophy is to raise healthy pups and tame them to eat right from the palm of your hand. We work diligently to ensure that all our gerbils are well socialized, friendly, and easy to handle. At the same time we provide detailed guides about the care, behavior, and health of gerbils to educate owners about the responsibilities and rewards of guardianship.

Our breeding pairs are carefully selected for their good health, gentle dispositions, cleverness, athleticism, and sociability. Our coat specialties include rich and classic colors alike.

When we can, we also rescue gerbils. These gerbils are never used for breeding; living a life of comfort and good health with us until adopted.

History

Established in 2013.

Years ago, back in 2002, my family and I were stationed in Germany for military service. With so many good memories from that time, some of our best are the hamsters we raised.

It all started with Pikachu, our golden teddy short hair hamster, and grew to a clan of nearly 30! The local Army wives found them to be great pets for their kids, and helped a tiny bit to ease the burden of military deployments to the Middle East. We ended adopting out nearly all our clan but 2 to over 20 families in our community!

A few years after we returned to the US, we bought two gerbil boys, Skiggit and Raggis. I didn’t realize how much these two little souls would enrich our lives. Since then, our little clan has steadily grown. We want to keep providing hand-​tamed gerbils for Austin and beyond, as well as educate owners about the rewards and responsibilities of guardianship. We are so in love with these little guys!
