There are many advantages of taking care of your timing belt with us as opposed to the dealership. One is that we will be more economical. Dealerships will try to oversell you on things that you may not need. Our reputation is built on being honest and fair. We will not try to sell you something that you do not need. We treat every customer’s vehicle like we’re working on our own car. We like to build a rapport with customers so when you bring your vehicle to us, you will get an honest estimate in which we will let you know what you should or should not do at the time of service to save you money in the long run. I took my car in for a battery replacement. They convinced me to get a diagnostic in case it wasn’t the battery. Then they quoted me a ridiculous price on the battery that was $ 50 to $ 70 higher than others supposedly because they only had really good batteries. Whatever. Then because of the diagnostics, I couldn’t leave without paying $ 30 for that. So it was a good trick. But at least they were fast.

Terry got me in right before they closed to check out my axle and ended up moving it to the back for no charge!
I am definitely keeping them in mind for any and all future needs I have. Even if it’s out of the way, I strongly encourage you to keep them in mind, they will treat you like royalty!

My husband and I have had our vehicles serviced here for 9 years and would never think of going anywhere else. We have never had to bring our cars back because of a failed repair. We both trust Terry 100%. He provided quick service with fair prices and is the most honest repairman we’ve ever used. HIGHLY recommended.

As a woman, I dread going to any mechanic because I always feel like they try to take advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge. I remember the first time I went to see Terry, the owner, about doing some work I thought I needed. He asked me some questions, took a look at my car and proceeded to tell me my car was fine and I didn’t have to have done what another mechanic had told me. It turned out to be something very minor vs. What I was thinking. Just today I called to get an estimate on some preventive services/​basic maintenance. He asked me the make, model and year of my car to verify If I needed some or all of the services I called about. He told me he didn’t think I needed a transmission flush, which would have been the most expensive of the 4 services I inquired about.
All of this to say, Mr. Terry is an extremely honest man and really cares about his customers. For any woman or really anybody looking for a good and trustworthy mechanic, I definitely recommend Terry at Manchaca Service center.

Terry the owner was nice and honest about the work required to get my car fixed. I wish I had brought it to him sooner. Last guy told me I needed all 8 spark plugs replaced but Terry advised that only #5 was missing and just charged me to replace that. Car is running so smooth again!
So grateful he didn’t try to up-​sell on work that I didn’t need, as so many other mechanics can be known to do with women.

Terry is still my go-​to guy. I won’t trust my car repairs to anybody else. Terry and his guys are honest and fair. Terry won’t do work your car doesn’t need and is honest about what it does need. The car mechanic I have ever found!!!

Two things I need to pinpoint here:
1. Being female and independent, it’s very difficult to find the trustworthy places that will not manipulate you just because of your gender/​sex.
2. Timing. Are they going to be prompt and finish in a timely manner? This can go with #1 above if they decide to abuse their powers when your car is in their hands.
Terry, who I met, is the owner and has a genuine hand and a sincere aura. He allowed me to use a loaner as I waited for the diagnosis on my vehicle. When I received the verdict about an hour later about my car I was very upset at myself for prolonging the situation when I could’ve brought it in sooner. Oh well, as they say you live and learn. He did not overcharge me like other places would. He won’t charge you $ 40 for a part then $ 200 for «labor» like I’ve experienced in my past. This shop has trustworthy mechanics who are definitely honest about the necessity of repairs.
I needed new rear brakes because it was metal to metal at this point (which runs into a safety issue now). Terry’s prices were reasonable and he assured me that the car would be ready in a couple of hours the same day. He allowed me to use the loaner again to do what I needed to do. If this doesn’t make you feel comfortable as a customer who just moved here to Austin then I don’t know what will make you feel like you are in great hands.
So as a result, again, he showed trust, me being female very important (see #1), as I have had past experiences of mechanics taking advantage of me in the most negative ways possible. And #2, the timing was right on. Never did he abuse his powers as an owner and mechanic and take me for granted as a customer. I will definitely go back and I am also going to refer friends to him.
This place was a blessing in disguise.

WARNING!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!
Took my car in to have tire changed and part of front end worked on, they ended up replacing engine parts and keeping same tire with no explanations as well as a very expensive bill.

Beyond excellence! I am struggling to express in words how great these guys were. I am new to the Austin area and went to this shop due to Unilocal reviews – couldn’t be more pleased. My vehicle was overheating and needed a new fan and fan motor (as well as the state inspection test). I dropped my car off in the morning and they were kind enough to give me a ride home. Long story short, I had locked myself out of my house and they were so understanding and accommodating throughout the process of sorting that mess out. In the meantime they were performing the necessary services on my vehicle and had everything fixed by early afternoon. Terry is a top-​notch guy: efficient, kind and honest. They really went above and beyond and I couldn’t be more grateful. Would recommend to anyone!

I called Manchaca Service Center to get a quote. I was put off immediately because the guy who answered the phone gave me the «you’re disturbing me» tone. I explained that I needed my alternator replaced and gave him my information. He then asked «what are you being quoted, what are we trying to beat». Why does that matter? It just gives me the feeling of a shady business trying to cut corners. Anyways, that’s where it ended. They did end up beating the price but I don’t feel comfortable taking my car there. First impressions are everything.

I was referred to Manchaca by… Unilocal,of course! They had a solid five star rating and they lived up to it. My tailpipe broke over the weekend and nobody — at least nobody worth my business (once again, Unilocal ratings) — was open until Monday. I called Manchaca first thing Monday morning and Terry said to bring my car in. I dropped it off before work and picked it up at 5 p.m. the same day. Terry was very helpful and explained the creative way he fixed my car, which I’m sure took a little magic. I would definitely go back!

Add me to the list of satisfied customers. If you want a warm and fuzzy feeling from your auto repair mechanic you probably should find someone that will hold your hand through the whole process while your car sits in the shop for weeks. Terry is the opposite. He is quick, responsive, straight to the point, and most importantly, he has integrity. I was referred to Manchaca Service by my friend. I needed a place that could replace my alternator quickly and at a low cost. I didn’t want to deal with any mechanic rip offs or any other funny business. Terry was very helpful, gave me an honest quote, and helped me get my vehicle towed after hours to the shop. Hands down the best service I have ever received! If you live in South Austin, you need to drive the extra 2 miles down Manchaca to get to this guy! Super helpful, honest, friendly guy! (His name is Terry) I stopped in here once just to have my tires filled up with air… he was quick to do so and didn’t charge me a dime. I came in here today just to have him check my oil level (I don’t know anything about cars). He checked my oil, told me it was low so I asked if he could get me in to change it within the next hour because I was on a time crunch. He said absolutely and got right to it! Like I said, best service I have ever had!

When you find a mechanic that doesn’t manipulate you, doesn’t charge you an arm and a leg… you’ve found a keeper!
I had taken my car to Willie’s Service Center on S. 1st for a state inspection. My car didn’t pass and I was given a laundry list of issues (including «windshield wipers don’t wipe properly») with a quote for $ 300, which didn’t seem too extreme. The major issue was the exhaust pipe. Yet, I still left feeling skeptical — I paid for the failed inspection and decided to get a second opinion.
I’m glad I did… went to Terry at Manchaca Service Center, who I’ve gone to before (further south, but soooo worth it). He noticed the exhaust pipe was extremely rusted right off the bat and told me I’d have to get that fixed before it passes. He didn’t charge me the inspection fee. I returned the following week and he fully inspected my car, giving me the option of patching up the exhaust pipe (the easiest, quickest, and least expensive option). I saved more than $ 150, with no mention of the windshield wipers (because they DO wipe properly) and my car was ready to go in just two hours later.
Thank you Willie’s, for opening my eyes to your 1 — star experience. Manchaca Service Center, you’re a keeper! YAY!

Another 5 star review for Terry and Manchaca Service Center. Like most people, I am shamefully suspicious of mechanics. Unfortunately, a few bad apples have ruined the reputation of many good ones. My 2001 Nissan PU’s AC completely went out last week and I took it to him. AC units are historically very expensive and I was bracing myself for the worst. Terry is very honest and could have easily replaced the entire unit. Especially since my truck is the age it is. However, Terry added some Freon and replaced a faulty switch for the compressor. It’s blowing cold as ice again and I could not be more grateful. Terry is a man of faith and his business principles are top notch. I have found my new mechanic! I highly recommend Terry and his crew. You will get an honest assessment and repair bill.

I was referred by a friend and coworker. My car wouldnt start. I had my car towed to the Manchaca Service Center at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon. By 5pm I had already been contacted to tell me that the car had been inspected and needed a new starter. Terry also suggested repairing a head gasket oil leak, which I had known about and did indeed need repairing. I was called at 10:30am the very next morning to let me know the car repairs had been completed. Price was fair, service was excellent. Definitely recommend.
