She is the best drawing teacher in Austin, bar none. She is a delight to work with and you can’t help but love her gentle, sweet way. I found out form her that drawing is a skill anyone can do, but takes time and patience. I thought I just didn’t have talent, but she made me wrong.

I started traveling to Austin for business and wanted to use my time there to also develop a creative outline. I am so happy I found Laurie! Laurie’s passion for art and the skill of drawing is contagious. My time spent with her is always a pleasure and my confidence and skills in drawing have greatly improved. She teaches drawing systematically and believes that anyone can learn to see and draw with proficiency. I would recommend Laurie for the serious art student as well as a working professional that wants to be able to communicate ideas through simple drawings.

We love Ms. Laurie! She has worked with our daughter for the last year. My daughter has learned so much and loves her time with Laurie. Laurie taught my twin daughters when they started drawing when they were about 6 years old. Laurie is a very patient teacher and know how to talk to children. My daughters were very comfortable around her. They started with knowing nothing about drawing and they made huge improvement in different kind of drawing skills. I would recommend her to any parents.

If you want to learn to draw realistically, Laurie is your person. She focusses on realism: proper use of shading to create a sense of depth, light and shadow. She’s also really patient. Learning to draw can be scary (how many people have you heard say that they can’t even draw a stick figure?), but Laurie knows how to give you the confidence to hold the pencil and make the marks on the page.
Austin is a town full of artistic types, so if learning to draw is one of your goals, Laurie is a great person to help you learn.
