I have been using Lugnuts since about 2008 and I hope I never have to use anyone else again. They have done work on all of our cars and have always been reasonable, timely, and communicative… They have even had the opportunity to do work that wasn’t needed and insisted that it did not need to be done. They have done work on our brakes, batteries, A/​C systems, a water pump, oil changes, and probably some other stuff as well. I recommend them to anybody that asks.

Solid group of people in that shop, straight shooters with no bs. Cars have become a lot harder to work on these days, and I wouldn’t trust any other shop with my ’14 Ram since the dealership has already failed me with just changing the oil. Prices aren’t out of line either I feel.

Both my adult offspring have taken their cars into Lug Nuts with mixed results while I watched from the wings. My daughter’s experience was generally good, if expensive. My son’s experience, on the other hand, is one of those situations where you wonder just how far you should go giving someone the benefit of the doubt before you become a sucker.
The original problem was one of those that the owner of a 16 year old car will be familiar with — a worn part kind of took a lot of other parts down with it. So a pulley replacement turned into a pulley-​belt-​water-​pump replacement. I had no problem with that at all. I didn’t even object to being charged (I paid for the repairs) for the non-​functioning cheap-​crap radiator cap they felt the need to put in place of the original equipment. Maybe it looked iffy. Maybe. But the cheap-​crap cap failed 10 miles out of the shop.
Then the radiator self-​destructed. Yeah, maybe it had reached the end it’s natural life-​span and the monkeying around in the other repairs weakened it further. I’ve seen it happen.
Then, two days out of the shop oil started dripping out under the engine. Turned out to be a bad valve cover gasket. Again, maybe it was its time and the repairs just gave it that final nudge. Maybe.
But the final straw was the accelerator cable bracket at the throttle dropped off without warning a week after the gasket replacement. Sloppy workmanship or another nudge into the repair bay? Didn’t matter because this was one that didn’t take special tools or experience to fix. But it was enough to push me over the line wondering just how much co-​incidence I would stomach.
So, no more chances. I’m not accusing anyone of anything definite, just reporting what happened and saying that it won’t happen any more on that car. Maybe someone else will notice this review and compare their experience before they have one more trip back to the shop. Or maybe I’m paranoid. I don’t insist that it was intentional. The last one could have been incompetence and was minor enough not to make me push it.
But keep your eyes open, just in case.

Best shop on the south side. The service is tremendous and they did everything I needed plus more. Feel like I’m driving my car from 5 years ago

I hate doing this because the staff were very friendly. We took our 2013 keep in because it would not start. They called back a couple days later and straight up said they didn’t know what was wrong with it. Ended up taking it to dealership and it was the fuel pump relay. Again, sorry guys. Your customer service is on point but you are an auto shop and couldn’t fix my car…

This place is absolutely great, my girlfriend’s was having issues, so we dropped it off. Two days later, they told us it was a bad compressor, and they couldn’t fix it because of the stop leak we used when we recharged the AC. However, they did tell us where to go, and didn’t charge us a penny to diagnose it. Very trustworthy and competent, my car is under warranty, but I’ll take it here rather than anywhere else and pay out of pocket. That’s how great these guys are.

I really liked the kindness and overall personalities of Patrick and Jason, they have a genuine honesty about them that is refreshing. I believe they gave me the best service and were truthful about my needed repairs. The shop is clean and looks cool, they fixed my car the same day and even waited around for me to get through Friday traffic in order to pick up after closing time. The last place I went, «Manchaca Service Center» I will not go back to as the gentleman that runs the place has a very negative tone and just isn’t a kind people person. He promotes Christianity which is wonderful but he does not portray himself as one.

Lovely, local place to go with wonderful people running it. I go to them for everything and realized I hadn’t written a review for them yet! I highly recommend them, they don’t try to scam you which is hard to find nowadays!

The guys at Lugnutz are top notch! They have always gone out of there way to help me out. I’ve shopped around and they have better prices than most plus I trust them. They have always been respectful and upfront with me, that’s why I continue to take my business there! Thanks!

They are very honest here, and affordable. We have been the here several times, and they have taken good care of us. One tip: they are very busy so get your vehicle there early or plan to leave it. So nice to have a mechanic you can trust!

Probably my favorite thing about this place is that there aren’t any scam artist here!
I have 4 diffirent vehicles that I’ve brought here and I’ve never had a problem with the service.

I am fairly new to the South Austin area and was looking for a mechanic for my 4 Runner. I read multiple Unilocal reviews and decided to give Lugnuts a try. I was so impressed with the service and integrity from Patrick! It’s rare in the automotive repair industry that you find someone you can really trust. I will be back for my next auto repair need.

I am very happy we have found this shop. My husband has an older model Jeep and it needs repairs often. We got tired of dealing with the typical Jeep repair places in town. They are honest and quick. They have a drop box for keys for after hours drop offs. We have had them also work on my father’s SUV and again no issues. They don’t do everything. They will not work on my father’s Jag or deal with air bag lights. Front office could be a tad more friendly but they are not rude. They are more to the point, very direct! Watch out for the step in. I have tripped on it twice. You would think I would have learned after the first time. We have only dropped off cars and not waited for them. They are cool to let us leave them in their lot until we can pick up. They also have a deal if you check in with Unilocal.However, be sure to show when you arrive vs. when you pay. They will not honor it if you wait until you pay. I don’t agree with this but their right to do what they want. Doesn’t work when you drop off the car at night after hours. We feel like the price and quality of work is spot on. We will continue to use them to work on the Jeep and any other cars not under dealer warranty.

Fantastic place! Patrick is very friendly, honest, and explains things well. They do the necessary work and don’t add things that aren’t needed. I’ve taken my car there about 3 – 4 times a year for the past 5 years. It has 110,000 miles on it and I still take it on long road trips. When I brought it in because the brake lights stayed on, they fixed it on the spot with a new switch. Get there early (opens at eight) because its first come first served and they may have work left over from the previous day.

FIVE Stars really aren’t enough. This was my second visit to lugnuts, the first being a water pump on a 72 Cutluss. Patrick said they didn’t usually workn cars that old but quoted me a price that was half what my regular shop had given me. They did a great job and I haven’t had any problem with the cooling system since.
Today I took my other car to lugnuts and basically told Patrick I needed new brake pads because I’d heard some noise and the car had nearly 100k on it. Most shops would have just replaced the brakes and gone on with their business. Patrick did a inspection and determined the sound was probably just a hard spot on a pad, but the brakes were fine. He would even take anything for checking them out. That is very rare to have a free brake inspection from non brake specialty shop. I’m definately going back when the brakes finally wear out or if any other repairs are needed.

Super pleased with my experience here. Right after my AC went out in my car, I took it to the dealership. They took a few days to even look at my car, quoted me $ 1,000 for the repair, charged me $ 60 for just looking at it, and said it would take a few more days to order the part and get the work done. Needless to say, I was not pleased.
I decided to try out Lugnuts and am so glad that I did. I dropped my car off Monday morning. Within just a few hours, they quoted me $ 425 (whereas the dealership had quoted $ 1,000) AND said it would be ready the next morning!
Everyone was super nice and professional, they got the work done fast, and my AC was in perfect condition when I picked it up. Will definitely be coming back to Lugnuts for any future car repair/​service needs!

Lugnuts was the auto repair shop that I’ve been looking for.
I’ve taken /​sent three different cars their way in the last two month’s.
They were able to give a quick diagnosis in two of the three cases — the third one was more difficult but was still diagnosed within the day.
In one case (A/​C compressor), the person didn’t have the cash to fix the issue. When asked if the shop would be willing to recharge the system if the compressor was replaced, they said no problem.
I will be back… hopefully not too soon ;-)

Lugnuts is one of the best auto shops I have ever interacted with.
My family and I have taken our vehicle to Lugnuts at least five times in the last year and a half. All of our experiences have been very positive and the work is always quality. The most notable experience I have had with this shop was my second visit and a bit of an emergency.
My truck broke down the day before my family and I were going to use it to move our household goods and needed to have the repairs done ASAP. When I arrived at the shop with two children (including an infant) I explained how urgent the fix was. The person manning the desk listened without irritation and added my vehicle to the day’s queue. I crossed my fingers.
It took about 30 minutes for them to diagnose the problem and give me an estimate.
During that time, I once again interacted with the person at the desk to ask if there was anywhere the kids and I could walk to get some baby food as we had not planned to be stranded. In addition to directing me to Sprouts he also offered us some baby food he had in the office form his baby visiting earlier so we would not be forced to walk to the store.
Although my kids and I ended up walking to the store anyhow I was FLOORED by the courtesy and compassion shown to us.
My husband and I NEVER take our vehicles anywhere else. We’ll be nuts for Lugnuts until further notice!

Tried to go today — showed up at 8.m. when they opened, only to be told that they were running «a day behind» and wouldn’t even get to my car until tomorrow. Plus, there’s no way to schedule anything… it’s just first-​come, first-​serve.
This sounds like a great place that I wanted to use thanks to the positive feedback from Unilocal — and to give him credit, the guy at the desk was really friendly about it – but if it’s not possible for me to get my car in to see them in a timely manner, then what’s the point?
