We were visiting from Chicago and was told to check out Rainey Street. This was by far our favorite bar on the strip. Awesome music(Cut Copy, Miike Snow, and Vampire Weekend just to name a few) and good vibe. Lots of young kids but the music and drinks made up for the younger scene. Good specialty cocktails… We had the Rainey special and Iced Tea which were both delicious. Definitely worth checking out.

Really cool setup with a patio sitting as well. The crowd is really nice at this place. Hippe young educated crowd. nothing like 6th street which is a good change of setting. Drinks are cheaper as well compared to 6th street

We went to this place twice in one night. We really liked it. It has a great selection of cocktails, I got the special Iced Tea and it was perfect. It has boxes of conversation starters on the tables which was fun.

I fell a little bit in love with Austin the moment we walked into this bar. The open house layouts with back patios strung with lights that Rainey had going on was really my kind of place. I’m a sucker for dark, open spaces… especially when Christmas lights or candles were also in effect. Lucille, though, had one thing that made it stand out above all the rest. Freakin HAMMOCKS. Why hasn’t anyone thought of this before? Hammocks are awesome to have around when you’re drinking! I didn’t care that it was raining — we jumped on and I swayed with my drink in hand, just looking up at the sky and feeling the rain on my face. Happy place. I can’t give it five stars because I wasn’t especially excited about the drink menu. In fact, I can’t even remember what I had. Which means something because I always remember what I put in my mouth.(Get yo’ mind out of the gutter.)

Visiting Austin with some friends, we swung into Lucille after dinner at NOVA down the street. Adorable, adorable place. Great local beer selection and very comfortable place to sit with friends; not too loud but very lively. I appreciate any place with decks of cards on the tables.

Really cute bar that’s much bigger than it looks from the front. It has a nice spacious backyard area and the bartenders are friendly and fast. Lots of spots to mingle around. Crowd looked largely to be in their early thirties.

Really cool vibe and interesting cocktails. I had their take on the Paloma and it was really tasty. Happy Hour is good value– with lots of the drinks carrying a heavy discount. There was no shortage of good looking women– and the outdoor patio seems like a cool place to hang out when the weather’s not too hot.

I came here with a friend for some after dinner drinks and a relaxing good time. It looks like an old home converted into a bar. There is plenty of space outside to sit and play games. I loved being outside because it was such a beautiful night. We sat on the side of the house and enjoyed giant Jenga. We met some other people playing games and made new friends. I like that the outside is dog friendly. Our drinks weren’t anything to rave about but we had a great time. I would like to check it out again when I return to Austin.

From the street Lucille look’s small but it’s a fairly open concept inside with a patio and then a huge outdoor seating area on gravel with a game of corn hole(aka: bags), a hammock and comfortable chairs. Lucille’s was the last bar on our Tour de Rainey Street and it could have easily been our first. It was a chill vibe with tasty drinks and good seating options to sit back and catch up with friends. Because it was our last bar of the night I can’t quite remember what our drink was called but it was a combination of a Texas beer and an airplane sized liquor bottle upside down in a highball glass slowly infusing our beer. My next visit to Austin will certainly take me back to Rainey Street and I’ll be excited to take my Houston friends to Lucille!

I bookmarked it for a reason. Cool open house with bar and bartenders that make big boy drinks at reasonable prices. Dog friendly, need I say more? No bad here. Food trucks nearby to get your munch on. What’s not to like?

I really liked this bar! The refreshing cucumber drink they made for me and the girls were on point for a hot summer night. It was decently strong yet not gross at the same time. There were plenty of seating both inside and outside. We went outside and quickly found this really comfy spot by the side where the large seat was padded. I like that you can choose to socialize or not but they give you options by having different seating arrangements. The people at the bar were all cool and friendly. No creepers came to bother us and it was just a fun time. I definitely spent the longest time at this bar while at Rainey st.

This is one of my favorite spots on Rainey. I enjoy the drink menu — especially the El Jeffe, and I love that they have cards for conversation starters on the tables inside. They also have a bunch of games, hammocks, and patio seating. During the weekend it can get pretty crowded but you see a lot of familiar faces.

While visiting Austin for a long weekend, a couple people had mentioned Rainey Street to us so we wandered over. The first place we visited was Lucille and I have to say it’s just a gorgeous space. The backyard makes you feel like you’re at a friend’s backyard BBQ w games, hammocks, and lots of cozy places to sit and gather. They also have fans/misters which are great on those super hot days. Not sure if they have a DJ everyday but when we were there(Sunday late afternoon) they did and it really added a nice touch. I also liked that it wasn’t blasted at you so you could still talk to your friends while enjoying the music. The drinks were also really delish — we especially loved the watermelon mojito and fresh strawberry mojito. No food but food trucks right next door. Staff was friendly too! This was just an all around great place to relax and enjoy a drink w friends. :)

Lucille’s is a really great place to meet friends for a drink and relax. I like that open feeling to the bar where indoor meets outdoor. It is a huge plus that they have games, including checkers, mini golf and corn hole. I have a really great time here whenever I come. It’s a great place to meet to break the ice with a new person too. Bar tenders are friendly and have good recommendations for beer.

Here’s the deal with Rainey Street: all of the little house bars are kinda the same, and they’re all kinda awesome. If you enjoy nice patios and outdoor libations, you’re in luck: Lucille has a very nice patio with hammocks, outdoor service, and corn hole. I liked the vibe here, although it did seem a little preppy. That’s OK, if you don’t like the scene, there are more options to choose from. That being said, I’d at least pop in here because it’s worth a visit.

Loved this place! Super chill and laid back like most bars on Rainey St. which is totally my style. Staff was super friendly. Great patio area with a hammock on the side so if you get really drunk, just take a cat nap and then get right back on the booze! My favorite drink was the margarita with jalapeños. So so good!

Again, checked this place out while doing my tour of Rainey Street. A good deal they have is happy hour till 10pm on sunday. I ordered the rainey roma, and it was pretty good. The inside is nice, as well as the outside. Next time i’m in the area, i’ll come back here.

My Rainey nights are starting to blend together so I better get this review down before I forget which identical bar is which… Lucille is a solid location. Owned by the same entity that own Friends, it has a cozy inside and a back area that has a few bar games and a decent amount of seating. It’s hard to say what sets this bar apart from others on Rainey. It’s pretty similar to the entire block, but that’s not saying it’s a bad thing. I usually like to stop by here for a few drinks before I hit the other bars. They have a few beers on tap and more in the fridge and there beer/shot specials are pretty interesting. I always like a bar that has Topo Chico in stock and they do. I wouldn’t call this place ideal to watch the UT games or any other football for that matter, but you can if you get close enough to the outside bar. Lucille is a solid place to start, but I typically don’t end my nights there.

Why is every new bar on Rainey St my new favorite bar? My «favorites» are a chronicle of the growth of that area… first it was Lustre Pearl, then it was Icenhauers, then Blackheart, then Javelina, and now Lucille. You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille… was the tune in my head when seeing the somewhat rough and antiquish outside, but I was so pleasantly surprised by the modern and spacious interior. Having just left the crowded and understaffed Javelina, it was a breath of fresh air, literally, to find a spot that wasn’t so jam packed. And then to find out they had HH on Sunday??? Why, yes, I would love three of them there cucumber martinis with the chili powder rims for $ 5 each! And don’t mind if I DO lay up in your hammock for a spell. Yup, hammocks and sunshine and a little Bob Marley and dogs and stiff drinks and friendly bartenders that knew my drink and bar tab on the second round despite the crowds and a food trailer court right across the street… all ingredients for my new favorite bar. Until the next one comes along.
