I had the best mechanic in California for the past 8 years and then I moved to Austin TX, it was hard for me to find new auto shop that I trust so I looked up a place to do the job my self since I don’t have any tools this place provide a full toolbox plus any special tool needed for any job without any extra charges.
The price is right and the customer service is amazing they are willing to help with anything and happy to answer any questions.
I’m sure I will be going back and till everyone about this pkace.

I stay at an apartment which does not let me do any auto work in the parking lot. And this place is my solution.
The place is pretty nice and with all he tools you’d need for most of the jobs. Bring your gloves, and other disposables, and try to watch some YouTube videos about what you’re about to and you’re set.
Absolutely check this place out. At the end of the day, any business comes down to the people running it. Mark is a guy who’s really excited to help people work on their cars. Patient, helpful and knowledgeable.
Going back for a control arm replacement on my BMW 335i this weekend. Excited!

Wow. I am so glad a place like this exists. Went there this past Sunday to do my oil change and the gentlemen, Mark was very friendly and explained how to operate the lift and found a tool I needed. Will definitely be going back here!

My wife and I needed to install an aftermarket air box and cat back system on her Silverado. No shop around that we talked to was interested in taking on the work so the Loyal DIY garage was perfect for us. I could probably have done the work at home, but my garage is so small the truck barely fits at all and there is not much head room to jack it very far off the ground and little room to work around it. The lifts at the DIY shop and the space made it easy. The guys there were very friendly, helpful and the shop was neat and well equipped. We got both of the systems installed with no big problems and everything worked out great. And it was very reasonable priced. I will definitely go there again next time I need to do some work I can handle on my own.

DIY Garage worked for me. I was hesitant since I’d never done control arm bushings on any car let alone a BMW… friendly staff assured me they were there to help. I got the job done fast and glad I didn’t try to do it in my driveway.

This place is phenomenally AWESOME, the absolute BEST place for working on your vehicle. They have lifts and each bay is clean and stocked with well organized, color coded tools, in tool bins. They’re very reasonably priced by the hour… a heck of a lot easier and safer than using jack stands at home. They have drain stands, so no mess and they take care of the
disposal. It’s such an awesome place that it makes working on your vehicle fun. And, they’re courteous and helpful, like if you need help getting a bolt loosened. There’s an honest mechanic in case those discover that it’s easier to let someone else do or finish the job. I can’t say enough about them or give them higher praises. There is no way I’d have been able to repair my car if not for this place. Thank God for DIY and these guys with such wonderful personalities, knowledge, and experience.

Wanna wrench your ride yourself? Don’t even have a shade tree? Go here, great shop space and you will be happy you did! These guys can tell a seasoned mech from a beginner and act accordingly. They stay outta your way if you know what you are doing and I have watched them help people out that need it. Great service!

The guys here are super friendly and extremely helpful. Don’t be afraid to come in if you don’t have much of a mechanical knowledge, the staff here will make sure to get you the help you need. They got the right tools for every job. Also they have a parts hookup.

It’s a very nice concept, and the people running the place are helpful and friendly.
They have plenty of tools for your use, including generally complete kits of sockets, wrenches, etc that you can bring over to your workstation. The other tools like jacks, stands, oil catch-​pans, etc. float around depending on who needs it. Generally there are enough to go around, but you may have to wait a few mins if its busy. I would recommend bringing your own tools and supplies, including stuff like paper towels, gloves, zip ties, etc.
Finding a spot may be tough on the weekends, but during the week (especially the mornings) is wide open.
And if you do come out, please respect the tools and equipment. Leave the work bay cleaner than when you drove in. Leave the toolkit more organized than when you borrowed it.
The only reason I can deduct a star is, depending on who was there before, you might pull into a workstation with tools everywhere, oil spots on the ground, stuff all over the workbench.
If they hired enough staff to keep everything clean, organized, and functional 100% of the time, then it would be 5-​star. I do realize that would cost more, and would raise prices though.
Overall, as-​is, it’s a good safe place to get anything from maintenance to serious work done.

I can’t reiterate how amazingly friendly this place was. My dad and I worked on replacing my mom’s catalytic converter and we were shown where the tools were, how to use the lift, and everything went incredibly well. You’re given a solid lift, good tools, good lighting, a fan (extremely helpful), and there’s even a restroom in there to clean up afterwards (or during). This shop takes something that can be daunting or uninviting (auto repair) and makes it accessible to those who have some time and the desire to do their own work. Please be sure to check this place out.

What an awesome concept! I was able to go in there and work on the lift for about an hour so about 20 bucks. All I had to do was some muffler work so I didn’t use many tools but I was told I could use anything in the area. No issues at all. The only downside is they’re a bit far from my place in S. Austin but that’s not their fault.
FYI, if you’re going to use one of their lifts, they recommend you call ahead so you won’t have to drive all they way up there and wait.

Great bunch of guys. They were extremely welcoming and willing to lend a little advise when I was debating how to proceed with my very difficult thermostat replacement. I highly recommend going here for all types of repairs that you think you may be able to do yourself… You’ll get a great feeling of accomplishment!

A do it yourselfer grease monkey’s dream come true. Many of us don’t have garages to work on our cars and that’s where DIY Texas comes in to play.
Dave and Marc were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable in the shop.
Each work space comes fully loaded with a tool box filled with your standard mechanic tools. There are also specialty sets of tools that can be rented for a few dollars extra or you can pay for the premium tools including pneumatic tools. You have the option of renting a flat space with jack and stands, 2 post lift or drive up 4 post lift. They also have a paint booth for customer use.
These guys are here to make your visit as simple and affordable as possible. The only thing that detracts from this establishment is location. For those of us on the south side of town, it can be quite the trek depending on traffic to get here.
All in all, this is a fantastic local business that I plan on returning to for future work on my car!

For those of us who are mechanically inclined, dealerships and shops are nothing but money pits. If you like to «do it yourself» but lack the space or tools, DIY Texas is your place.
I came in to bleed my brakes. I got the exact bay I wanted with all the tools I could ask for and then some. When you see the initialism «DIY», the phrase «you’re on your own» comes to mind. Not so at DIY Texas. When my bleeder screw snapped off, after the profanities were done, Mark (I think) helped me try to remove it. When it wouldn’t budge at all, he was on the phone with Autozone and got me a caliper at cost +5% within a half hour.
When I was ready to leave, and my brake pedal felt a little soft, he helped me fix the problem until the car felt much better to drive. Even after my time in the shop, the caliper and the extra tool rental, taking my car to the dealership would have cost me at least 2−3x as much.
I highly recommend this place. I’m glad a place like this exists.

This place has already saved me thousands in one day, and I know they’ll save me even more in the long run.
Omar put my mind at ease and showed me how to use the A/​C equipment, so I could replace a failed compressor. They have every wrench attachment you could imagine and the guys were outstanding.
When I doubted myself, experts were within earshot to reassure me and for a very reasonable rate. They even pulled up the repair manual for me on the computer, so I don’t need to buy the $ 120 book.
I had plenty of room to work, a clean work bench and top of the line tools. They even ordered the stuff I needed from the parts store and had it waiting for me when I arrived.
Mark, Dave, Omar and Haper, you all are great people. I’ll be back soon with my Peugeot 405 Mi16, as well as my BMW 5 Series.

This place is great. The staff is super patient and friendly. The tools are clean and organized. The shop is super clean.
I took my 04 Land Rover Discovery in so I could replace the O2 sensors, since the shop manual indicated it would be an easy repair, and I wanted to save some money and try to do it myself. Well, it turned out getting those things loose was more trouble than I could handle. No problem, Dave came over and put some persuasion on those things and they popped right out. After we completed that job, I changed the oil and cleaned up some oil deposits on the undercarriage. Next time, I’m going to get Omar to help me identify some oil leaks and get those repaired. Also need to work on a wheel hub.
Car is running great, and I did it almost all by myself, and I saved a ton of money in parts and labor. Thanks DIY Texas!!!

This place is perfect for anyone who likes to work on their own vehicle while having access to everything you need. Everything you need is supplied including tools, lifts, fluid disposal, and knowledgeable staff.
I went in to do a simple oil change. Decided to use the lift and it was 10 times easier than just using a jack and crawling underneath. All the tools I needed were there and cleanup was a breeze.
I’m definitely coming back every time I need to do anything to my truck. Being inside and in the shade is way better than tinkering out in the hot sun, not to mention it’s really inexpensive to use the facility.

After being envious of the DIY automotive concept in Washington, we finally have a legit contender here in Austin!
The main attraction is the availability of lifts and air tools, though they also offer access to welding and fabrication equipment. I went for the introduction to welding class a few days ago, and while it was a steal at $ 20, there were some egregious safety violations that even made me nervous (people welding in shorts and mesh tennis shoes, the local shop dog bounding across the service bays). The instructor definitely knew his stuff, I’d just hate for an awesome business like this to get taken out by some lawsuit happy idiot.
I’d be much happier if DIY Texas were air conditioned, though the large bay doors seemed to provide OK airflow (to be fair, we didn’t have any airflow directed our way since industrial fans and welding don’t mix).
All of the staff were friendly and chatty, the prices are very reasonable, and you can reserve bays online. Pretty impressive for only being open 1 month, I really wish these guys continued success.
