History

Established in 2005.

Established in 2005 and founded by owners Kelly and Offir Schwartz with the goal of developing a brand synonymous with Eco-​Friendly home goods. With over 10 years combined experience owners Kelly and Offir Schwartz set out to open its first location in downtown Austin’s 2nd Street Shopping district with more stores to follow. In November of 2007 LOFT opened its second location in the burgeoning region of north central Austin known as The Domain. With luxury retailers and ample restaurant and entertainment venues nearby, LOFT at The Domain has grown to become one of its star anchors. In February of 2009 LOFT was awarded use of the name and mark ‘LOFT’ by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for use in retail home goods thereby stamping it’s name in the books of business names as a recognizable brand. Looking to the future, LOFT intends to grow its brand and offer its unique product mix and shopping experience to consumers throughout the United States.

Owners Kelly and Offir Schwartz are both very passionate about style, design and value. Design authority and buyer Kelly Schwartz taps in to her talents as a professional Interior Designer with 10+ years experience in the field. «LOFT gave me the chance to take all that I have learned from design, and my passion for sustainability, to create a look that people can enjoy and participate in at every level». Business manager Offir Schwartz works hand in hand with Kelly to provide the backbone and infrastructure to make the daily operations of a thriving and growing business work. «It can be hard to work with your wife or partners 8, 10, 12 hours a day but Kelly and I make a great team and we know where to draw the line when it comes to each other’s roles in the company».

I love the layout of the store and the selection of pieces that LOFT has crafted. The sales team was beyond helpful in helping me pick out which pieces would work best in my new space. I heard about their 10 year anniversary sale from Facebook, which was better than expected. My new sofa is the best purchase I’d made in 2016 thus far and I look forward to doing more business with LOFT in the future. Despite some of the negative reviews below, I think LOFT is one of the better contemporary furniture stores in Austin giving you unique products and awesome customer service. The five stars are well deserved.

Hard for me to give a 1 star rating, the store without the people isn’t that bad, they have nice furnishings, and sometimes decent prices, but the level of customer services is TERRIBLE. I recently purchased two chairs for over $ 1,600.00. I wanted to make sure the chairs matched my couch so I asked for a fabric sample. After waiting in the store for a solid 20 mins for the to find a fabric sample they informed be they didn’t have one. I decided to purchase since I really loved them for fear they would be gone the next day. When I picked up the chairs, NO ONE lifted a hand to help me, they just stood behind the desk and watched me carry them out. Not even a «bye, thanks for shopping with us» when I left. Then, after I got home, I realized the color wasn’t correct so I called and said I need to return them. Nope, not allowed to return them, they wouldn’t even consider it. I asked to speak to the owner, and was not allowed to speak to the owner. I’ve spent well over $ 7,500 at this store, and they can’t even give me the courtesy of a simple return. Buyer Beware.

After relocating to Austin last spring, we had wanted to purchase a Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams sofa and found Loft Home to be our local retail store. What we didn’t expect was to find the most amazing designer, Titus Muncy. He guided us through purchases for our open floor plan home offering multiple suggestions for furniture, lighting, accessories, rugs, textiles, and even paint to coordinate. Our space is now truly our style, but we could not have achieved it without his help. Icing on the cake… we feel like we also made a friend!

We recently received a LOFT Home catalog. The products caught our eye as appearing to be well designed and contemporary/​modern. The company’s website had several items on sale. With no store in San Antonio, we made the trek to Austin. The chair my wife and I had been eyeing for 3 weeks was there and looked great. Several other items looked quite nice as well. Unfortunately, the price in the store was higher than the price on the Internet, and the salesperson was misinformed about the Internet pricing. The store staff were otherwise helpful, but followed us around and made us feel uncomfortable. We understand that sales staff must strike a balance between being overbearing/​intrusive and neglectful, but we’re of the ilk that «if we need help, we’ll ask… just be available». 5 stars for products and store layout. 3 stars for staff.

I love, love, love LOFT. I have shopped here for years to be inspired and to buy gift items and small accessories. I just recently used their design service to totally refurnish our living room. I had a ball working with Jim Chappelow. He had great ideas and is very knowledgeable about their product lines. I went back and forth with some of the decisions and he and the other designers kept offering options for me to consider until I was ready to make a final choice.
I don’t know why other reviewers complain about the customer service, I have always found the staff to be helpful and approachable without being hovering, pushy sales people. As for the wait time for my custom ordered pieces, I was told up front how long it would take. If I needed instant gratification I would have shopped at a big box store. I was happy to shop local and feel as though I had a hand in designing the pieces.

I went into LOFT Home just to find a new slipcover for my MG + BW sofa. Titus couldn’t have been more helpful. He helped my husband and I pick out a great new cover. We complained about how horrible the seat cushions had held up and he worked with MG + BW to get us new ones for FREE as well! He was proactive and emailed me with updates about the arrival of the cushions and slipcover without me asking. Not only was he fantastic, but the store had many great furniture and accessory pieces. It is one of my favorite home stores in the Austin area.

Seriously the best experience I’ve ever had buying a piece of furniture. If you walk into Loft Home and happen to be greeted by Titus, consider it your lucky day. I spent over 20 hours searching for a sofa (10 hours in stores, 10 hours online) and no one, NO ONE, was as kind, knowledgeable and talented as Titus. It’s clear that he has a great eye for design which became evident when he began helping us select fabric and accent pillows for our sofa.
Did you know that they offer free design consultations? I did not! Titus came over to my house and immediately changed some things that made a huge impact on my space. He’s now on the hunt for a coffee table and other accent pieces needed to give my living room that «pulled together» look. I feel like I’m one of those homeowners on HGTV who got the *good* designer. It’s awesome.
I realize that this sounds more like a review for Titus than Loft Home. Let me fix that.
Loft Home is beautiful. They have gorgeous pieces and the prices are excellent (shop around, you’ll see). Don’t buy cheap furniture; you’ll wind up replacing it within a few years. Buy good furniture and keep it forever.
I digress.
Loft Home has an excellent, well-​laid out showroom that makes sense. It’s not some crazy clutter of mish mash. You can easily envision what a piece will look like in your home and they have super cool accent pieces as well. The sofa we purchased is sooo nice and cost about the same as what you would find at one of those national chains. You know the ones.
Check out their sale items in the back. The prices are amazing.
Another thing that impressed us was the prompt follow-​up after we made our purchase. We received a «thank you» email and a description of what to expect while waiting for our sofa. We were given an order number and the promise of regular updates as our order moves through production. No guessing as to what’s going on with our sofa. So fabulous.
If you fear that Loft Home is too pricey, don’t be afraid to check them out anyway. They are super nice there and seem very good at making people feel at ease. So glad we gave them a chance!

My husband and I recently purchased a new home. When it came time to purchase furniture, I immediately knew where I wanted to go-​LOFT. The great interior designers, quality of furniture, and uniqueness of pieces/​accesories, are what I love most about this store. We had the oppurtunity to work with Titus to help design our spaces and I could not have been more impressed. He was so helpful in choosing pieces that would fit the style we were going for, while also pushing us to try different styles that we would normally would not choose. I was so impressed with Titus’s design choices that I have referred him on to friends who are looking for design help with their homes. Thank you Titus for turning out dream home into reality! :)

My story is very simliar to the other one star reviews. My advice? Take these reviews to heart before working with them and spending your money at Loft. After the terrible overall experience there, for some reason I feel a sense of duty to paint the picture for people.
Our sales experience was great. Titus, who helped us, was friendly, informative, and helped us get to a decision we were happy with given all of our contraints (we bought a bed). All of this was at the end of the day on a Sunday. Kudos to him.
Then, similar to so many other people who’s reviews I have seen, it just went south. They were not proactive about communication. We had to schedule and follow up on absolutely everything. Finally, when the bed did arrive, late, it was delivered with the incorrect slats. After 3 more phone calls initiated by me to get the correct slats, the wrong slats were delivered a second time. Actually, they were the same size as the first set. Yes, they made the same exact mistake twice in a row. We are waiting for our 3rd delivery of slats. Maybe the 3rd time is a charm?
We were offered a meager refund to make up for the inconvenience. After some back and forth on that, it was increased but it still doesn’t make up for the mistakes. Right on the website it states:
«We are as passionate as you are about creating a comfortable environment for you and your family and we stand behind our products and service, satisfaction gauranteed!»
When I spoke with one the owners about what it would take to make us satisfied, he told me he couldn’t do it. Was my request outrageous? No, it was to get the bed at cost, to break even. I don’t think that is unreasonable. For Loft not to profit but not be out of pocket?
Anyway, unless you have lots of patience, money and time at your disposal, I would stay as far away from here as possible.

We entered the store, and were pleased by the style of the furniture. My wife and I had decided a couple of years ago that we were at a point in our lives where we are going to only buy ‘good’ furniture. After dinner at CPK we wandered over to LOFT to see what they had. They had attractive furniture in a style that I liked. We were the only customers in the store, but the person working behind the counter couldn’t be troubled. From thirty feet away we were «greeted», and then ignored. They were doing something, but I guess that we didn’t look like someone they wanted to do business with.
So I won’t.
Your experience may vary… and I hope it does.

I am editing my review for a few simple reasons. Looking back, when I went into LOFT I was a bit on edge to begin with. I had over-​exerted myself at the gym thinking I could work out like I used to. Completely forgetting I had sat on my a** for three months eating Mint Milano cookies and enjoying a SAD (standard American diet). Was I a bit cranky? probably. Anyway, after writing my snarky review, I received a message from the Owner asking me to please come back to his store, start over and try it out again. A few weeks later I came back, but did not identify myself as the author of the crappy review (too embarrassed). I spoke with the owner and he was extremely nice and helpful. I picked out a few items for a new office I am trying to furnish and was pleased as punch. I have to say my office is truly rockin’ now and I’m changing my star rating from two to five. I love LOFT!

I actually am quite fond of the furnishings at the loft. The clean lines and earthiness of the furniture are appealing to me. The store itself is well planned out and airy and I was able to find many pieces that might work out. The problem I had was the three employees working there when I came in. Keep in mind, when I walked into the store, I was the only customer there. I can completely understand if those three individuals were actually busy with orders or talking on the phone with customers, but no. One really board looking girl was behind the counter spacing out. While the two male employees were talking to each other about their weekend plans. I felt like some sort of intruder or a ghost and the experience was very awkward. If it were not for my extreme motivation to purchase the pieces that I liked, after 15 minutes, I would have exited this store stat and never returned.
In trying to analyze reasons why I was not waited on within a reasonable amount of time (5 min. in my opinion), I have come to the following conclusions:
1. Yes, I had just been to the Gym. Although I was wearing my best sporting attire, its possible I looked as if I did not have money to burn and these employees did not feel it was even worth it to greet/​wait on me.
2. Being female, sometimes mainly older gentlemen get the mistaken impression that the «little lady» needs approval from her husband to make any major purchases.
2. The hired help just didn’t give a d***.
I’m thinking the answer is either #1 or #3 and really the only reason why I am writing this is because I am a business owner myself and I would want to know if my employees behaved like this when I wasn’t around. So please, owner of Loft, either replace these people or retrain and directly supervise so your store that has such potential can succeed. I want to be able to shop here, I really do!

I just cant get enough of this place. I needed a new runner for my kitchen and i had remembered seeing a wall of colorful rugs at LOFT. As always, Jim was such a great help in finding just he right rug. I ended up choosing a dash and albert rug, it arrived in two weeks and i just love it!

This place has terrible customer service. Based on a recent experience I won’t spend another dime there.
If you’re going to buy anyway, buy off the floor because they really have no idea when their special orders are coming in and don’t really care if it doesn’t meet your needs.

Being a guy most furniture stores are a little intimidating, I am lucky my socks match much less my furniture. I bought a new place and wanted to replace my black leather sofas that I carried in from the 80s. If your a guy this is the store clean lines, rough textures, still with a modern feel. I was helped by Mary she was great and easy on the eyes. My items were delivered the next day. Those guys were great to!

I fell in love with the Mitchell Gold sofas at Loft when I first visited the store. I had the opportunity to purchase a sofa from the Mitchell Gold store in Atlanta, but I wanted to give my money to a local business so I decided to return to Loft to order the pieces on July 1.
The sales associate helped me choose a fabric that matched my décor and was in-​stock (meaning a quicker delivery time). Two sales associates assured me that I would receive my sofa within 3 weeks (it would be a total of 4 weeks with the Independence Day holiday week). I was excited to have the new seating immediately, but I figured it would be worth the wait.
Three days before I was ready to receive the items (it was a sectional with slipcovers), they called to tell me delivery would be in another five weeks – it eventually came out (after three more telephone calls) that they had misquoted me the time line. I asked to cancel my order and told them I would have never made the purchase had I known it was going to take 8 to 9 weeks before I got it; they told me it was absolutely not an option to cancel the order without paying a hefty penalty. They did not offer to discount my purchase or make any amends. They did, however, promise to watch the order status.
After the three more phone calls to ask what could be done to remedy the situation, the floor manager offered to knock off the delivery fee, tax and 5% of the bill. I never heard back from them after that. I called a week before it was scheduled to be delivered and they told me it looked like it would be another 2 weeks. What happened to keeping an eye on the order status?
The sales associate who sold me the sofa called on September 8 to tell me sofa finally arrived at their shipping department and that a member of their delivery company would be giving me a call to set up a delivery time but that deliveries were backed-​up. I thought about asking her to put me at the top of the delivery list since I had been waiting for so long but I figured it wasn’t worth it since this was the same individual who promised to watch my order.
I finally received my sofa 12 weeks after I ordered it.
This sofa cost over $ 4,000. I figured purchasing a relatively expensive item from a local store would provide me a high level of customer service. (I understand things happen beyond the store’s control, but I would expect the store to smooth out the bumps. Why else buy from them and not directly from the manufacturer?) I did not receive that from Loft and cannot recommend this store to others considering a similar purchase.

Where can you go look at and hopefully purchase really cool, eco-​friendly furniture while drinking a beer? Well Loft Home Décor, that’s where! A client of mine took her shoes off, tested the comfy-​ness of the sofas while sipping on a Heineken (for those of you wondering, I didn’t drink a beer because I never drink while working – I save the boozing for afterhours!). I suppose getting you all liquored up while you shop helps close a sale but after a long day of furniture shopping who couldn’t use a brewsky?
The Cons:
1.PRICE. Not everyone can afford a $ 4000 sofa (but if you work with Adentro Designs, you get my designer discount. Take note.)
2. PARKING. I don’t know if it’s just me but I hate parking garages. They confuse me so having to park in one and then remember which way is which well…
The Pros:
1. JOHN. He’s super friendly, super handsome, and has the best «pimp» boots this side of well, Rundberg.
2) CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don’t you hate it when you walk into a high-​end store and their counter clerks, who probably make a ¼ of what you do, look their noses down at you? Well you won’t find this here. They’re super welcoming and not once did they look at my toes. (I find snooty people look at toes to see if they’re properly pedicured).
3)ECO-FRIENDLY. Nuff said.
So all-​in-​all, it’s definitely worth a visit! Tell John I sent ya!

One of the reasons I go to The Domain is to see what is new at Loft, an Austin-​based store featuring beautiful organic items for your home. Most of the furniture here is a transitional design. What catches my eye whenever I am in this lovely store are the gorgeous reclaimed wood tables. You must come see them. I was shopping for a client last week and really wanted her to like them. She did and we are deciding which one to purchase for her informal living room. I also found a very cool oval etched glass lamp for her husband.
Loft offers the buyer handsomely crafted furniture such as coffee tables, streamlined sofas, chairs and armoires plus decorative items like an African snail shell, Root soy candles, interesting mirrors and unique lighting. All items are sourced from manufacturers adhering to the highest standards of sustainability. Love the prices. They are comparably less than other specialty furnishing shops.
