Lisa Hines- Sugar Hill Spa

I found Lisa because I was looking specifically for sugar waxing versus traditional wax. She is a bit of a drive for me, but I continue to do it because she sugars and because she is quick and great conversation. She has great availability and you can schedule online. Twice I’ve had to change appointments at the last minute and she’s always really great about it. I just leave her a message and she will either text me or just adjust my appointment and I will receive a confirmation email. As for the actual wax, what can I say, it hurts! But I’ll take sugaring over hard wax any day. She works swiftly and is thorough. I like how the sugar just wipes away. I plan on continuing to see her indefinitely.

Lisa is amazing and I am shocked I haven’t reviewed her before. I have gone to Lisa for sugaring for 10 years now, and I have never been disappointed. She is very professional and I actually enjoy going to see her every 6 weeks, even if she does rip hair out of my body. At this point, it doesn’t even hurt anymore. I recommend Lisa to all of my friends!

Let’s be honest here: there’s no way that any bikini hair removal place is going to be your most favorite place to go, or the least painful stop in one’s personal care routine but Lisa makes the whole «no pants with strangers» thing bearable and even a little enjoyable.
She’s hilarious which takes my mind right off the fact that little hairs are being ripped from my body, she’s got an über-​cute little spa that’s convenient with parking for when I’m too lazy to bike there and she’s got super easy online booking which saves everyone time. In, out, hair-​free, smooth and done!

I had been waxed before, but someone told me I should give sugaring a try. It was less than half as painful as a Brazilian wax and I had zero inflammation afterwards. I literally couldn’t tell (pain wise) after she was done that I had hair removal done that day. She is nice, funny, and she does an amazing job. I tell all of my friends about sugar hill.

Waxing and sugaring is not fun. So to give someone five stars for ripping hair out of your body really means something. (No worries — it’s not painful) Lisa is nothing short of awesome — after my first appointment there I decided I’m a regular customer. I have super sensitive skin, and she even texted me the evening after the appointment to make sure there was no reaction from the sugaring. I love how easy it is to book online and I have yet to wait more than 2 minutes for my appointment. Five stars five stars five stars — what else can I say?

So I have never been waxed or sugared in my life, but I felt the time had come because my summer job was going to have me in a swimsuit a lot! One of my best friends went to European wax normally in Austin & she was referred to Sugar Hill by a friend and after her experience she was RAVING about how much more comfortable it was! especially in the after, so, I decided it was time to take the plunge.
Lisa is WONDERFUL! The very first time I was like, well, this is uncomfortable and traditional waxing is WORSE! Why do people submit themselves to such torture when there is a more comfortable option!
She was so nice to even fit me in last minute the first time. I knew I’d be in the area, and I told her I wanted to come in, and she was so kind to just let me come in and I was happy to wait as long as needed and she was able to squeeze me in!

I started going to Lisa four years ago and haven’t been to anyone else since. Why would I when Lisa makes what’s notoriously a horrible experience so – well – bearable and actually pleasant? Not only that; she’s professional, sanitary, meticulous, and her genuine friendliness always makes me feel at ease. I’ve never left her salon even a little bit dissatisfied. I’ve recommended her to all of my friends, and we’re all Lisa loyals.
What’s even more impressive to me is her incredible customer rapport. I could book appointments months apart, and she’d remember every detail of a story I told her long ago. How she manages to keep up with the lives of her big clientele is extraordinary. The fact that Lisa cares that much about each client really reflects in her work. Talking to her is like catching up with an old friend, which works as a great distraction from the deed.
Plus, her central location near UT is a great bonus.
Oh, and her place is basically Pinterest in salon form. Cute overload.
Highly, highly, highly recommended! Once you go Lisa, you never go not Lisa.

Before going to Lisa, I made sure that I did my research on the best places to go in Austin for a good old fashioned sugaring. All signs pointed to her and her spa, so I decided to check it out. I swore off waxing a few months ago due to the pain, so finding someone great was important to me… Lisa was exactly that. Upon arrival I was escorted to the room where the «procedure down under» would take place. After getting ready for the big show, Lisa came in and immediately started making conversation to make things more comfortable. She carried on the whole time and it was never awkward (like it can sometimes be). Now, I will say, there was definitely still pain. Still quite a bit of pain BUT I hadn’t gotten a wax in long time so that was to be expected. She told me that the more maintenance and upkeep, the better it gets. I am already scheduling my next appointment with her and hoping it gets easier each time.

I went to Sugar Hill based on the reviews below (all excellent!) and cannot be happier. This was my first exposure to hair removal — waxing freaked me out too much due to the pain — and I am so glad I went to Lisa. She’s easy to talk too, I did not feel weird on the table, place is clean, prices decent, etc. So, if you’re not sure, take it from this ‘sugaring convert’ that it’s worth the initial embarrassment. :o)

Given that this will almost NEVER be a good experience, you have to worship at the altar when you find someone who takes the pain out. This was my first exposure to a sugar ball and I’m a convert.
I was in town from Dallas and looking for a quick fix — not only did Lisa fit me in within a half-​hour of my desperate plea, she was as sunny and adorable as she could possibly be. She was efficient, informative, and funny — all VERY important when you’re trying your best to not be a repressed WASP-​y sort on the table. I got great advice for follow-​up care, and have been so so so so pleased with the results.
The spa itself is inviting and clean, the prices are fair, and it’s easy to find & park. I do enough business in Austin that this will be my regular spot whenever I’m in town. It’s just not worth going locally when there is a spa THIS GOOD available, y’all.

This place is a true gem! I have known and worked with Lisa for many year and I’m so happy she finally opened her own spa. This place is super cute, pink, flowery and shimmery. I booked a pedicure and had an amazing appointment. The chair was super comfy, I felt like I was sinking into it. For hair removal, Lisa is a pro, and sugaring is the only way to go for hair removal. I can’t wait for this place to be completely up and running and get all the amazing services!

I can’t say enough good things about Lisa and her spa. She is professional, fun, easy to talk to, and makes you feel at ease. It’s so easy to book online, and she makes every effort to get you in when you need to, even way overbooking herself during times of need like around spring break. The new spa is super cute and girly, too. I’d definitely recommend sugaring over waxing, and Lisa over everyone else!

OMG! I LOVE this place. I went in for a manicure and the manicurist, Sarah, was AWESOME. The work she did was great and she was so incredibly nice. I ended up throwing in a pedi and plan to see Sarah regularly. Plus… it’s glittery inside and it makes me feel like a princess. :-)

I first found Lisa in an article in the Daily Texan when I was at the height of my frustrations with waxing. She came to my rescue and from that day on she has been a God send! Her sugaring technique is non-​conventional but works in pulling even the most stubborn hairs out and if they are too short she will take the time to tweeze them. I have NEVER been burned, the sugar isn’t hot, nor have I walked away with a service that I was unhappy with. Not to mention, the sugar itself is a natural exfolient so skin is left feeling smooth and soft! Lisa is AMAZING!
Her new salon is out of this world! So cute, and the best part? Squeaky clean! I am so excited about all of the new services that will be offered! Way to go Lisa!

Lisa is the best at what she does! Her space is clean, comfortable and she is fast! Sugaring is substantially better than waxing and Lisa is the best at it. She provides online booking which makes booking or canceling appointments a piece of cake. She is easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable, even in the most uncomfortable positions.
