Levitate Web Design

Please let me start by saying:
I am a real customer of this business.
I noticed that on all of the 1 star reviews of this company on Unilocal,that the owner’s reply says they are a fake customer.
So, I just want to be very clear here that I am real and I did hire Levitate Web Design owned by Matt and Kelly.
I think it’s horrible that the way Levitate Web Design handles customer complaints is by saying they are from fake people.
Here’s my review:
My experience with Levitate Web Design has been the worst I’ve had in my life. Levitate Web Design promised to deliver my company an e-​commerce site for online ordering and they have completely failed to deliver.
They told me that they would build me an e-​commerce site for online orders.
They could not make the site work and then before it was ever tested out, they made it go live without telling me. This was exceptionally unprofessional. So, I received orders that were not charged for delivery or tax and I had to deliver the orders and pay tax on them out of my own pocket. This is an expense they ignored and acted like it wasn’t an issue at all. This is when I knew I was working with a bad company.
I had to call them to tell them to take the site off-​line because it wasn’t working correctly. I did spend some time trying to work with them to get it up and running. Since I own a small business, I did not have time to hassle them constantly and about two years has gone by. They never attempted to make the site work during this time. They knew it was what they had promised and they just let the project lapse because I didn’t push them constantly. I did check in periodically to try to get them to live up to the agreement and deliver the product that I paid for in full. I recently attempted again to get in touch.
They knew that they had built a site that didn’t work, but after two years of me trying to get them to correct their mistakes and get it to work again, they actually blamed me in a recent email for «not using the site». Let me ask, how could I use a site that never worked from the very start? This site didn’t charge for delivery, nor did it charge tax correctly. They just couldn’t make it work, and turned it around blaming me for «not using it» this is a completely unprofessional way for them to reply.
Levitate Web Design then recently took a deposit from me to have another attempt at trying to make this e-​commerce site work and go live. They clearly knew this site wouldn’t work, that they weren’t going to live up to the agreement that they would build me a site that would work, and took my money anyway.
The owner, Kelly, emailed me to say that the plug in they used is no longer supported and that I will need to build myself a completely new site from scratch. As a web design company, these people should be using programs and plug ins that will last more than a couple of years, this site was something that should have been working for the long term and they knew they were using programs and plug ins that would be out dated in a short period of time. This is a good example of the fact that they do not have the skills needed to deliver the web designs and products they promised me. On top of all of that, the owner, Kelly, ended her recent email with the words «Good Luck» and completely wrote me off. Didn’t call me to try to talk about what she could possibly to do help me, or try other solutions to deliver the product I had already paid for, just «Good Luck» and goodbye. The lack of service here is the worst I’ve ever experienced. There is no acceptable reason for her not to call to discuss the project that she completely abandoned with no regard for her customer.
I disputed the credit card charge for the recent deposit, since she wrote me off and can’t make this site work at all. She had the nerve to complain to me about disputing the charge, she didn’t mention anything in her email about the fact that she did absolutely nothing to make this site work from the start or that she completely lied about being able to build me a site that would work.
She emailed me complaining that I didn’t call her to tell her I was going to dispute the charge. Well, she didn’t call me to tell me that she was quitting the project that had already been paid for once and couldn’t deliver the product from the start either.
Buyer Beware. Levitate Web Design will tell you they can make you a website that will work, then never complete it, and complain that you didn’t pay them enough!
Also– if you are considering hiring this team, after you read Kelly’s reply below where she takes my email out of context:
Here’s the rest of that email– «I know you’ve worked on it and it’s ready to go as far as the functionality goes… Also, I’d like to test it a few times before it goes live.» —
This is the part she intentionally left off. That I wanted to test it before it went live. They couldn’t get it to work when they tested it back then, and they certainly can’t now.

We used Levitate Web Design for our wedding photography company’s website and could not be happier with the results. We wanted a website that was clean, artistic, tasteful and simple to navigate — which sadly seems more and more difficult to find these days as designers are opting for fancy, single column, flowing designs that I simply can’t stand. Kelly and Matt listened carefully to what we were looking for and came back with a finished product that was exactly what we envisioned. Then they were responsive to our minor revisions and professional in finalizing our site to go live. We ran into some problems with our old email server and malware, and Kelly and Matt were quick to remedy the problems and get us back online. To this day they are quick to respond to our questions and solve any problems that may arise. The website looks great, is easy to add content to, and has generated a ton of business.
We are very pleased with Levitate Web Design and plan on continuing to use them in the future!

I contacted leviate to create a new website for me as we were rebranding our store. we met shortly after our initial contact. i paid a deposit at that time — which i expected. mat and Kelly were very helpful and knowledgeable. the new website design and functionality are great. we made a few adjustments and revisions — I found them timely, reasonably priced, talented and friendly. they really know there work! I love my new website. most of our communication was email and they meet in person for initial, final and revision meetings. I love my new website!

I met with Kelly and Matt in December 2013 and they had my logo, website, mobile app and a video with a YouTube account done in 3 weeks. They helped my business more than I can every say. I had some trouble putting my information out on the web (social media and linking it all together). Kelly was SO helpful in getting the «little things» done for me so I could use my new (awesome) website & video successfully.
The price was right for my little company and they were the right fit for me personally. I am forever thankful that they really came through for me and I would recommend their services to anyone.
The only «bad» thing I can say is that I think they do most of their communication in the evening. I work at night as well so, for me, this was not a problem.

Since the original review of ¹⁄₆ most of the issues have been resolved.

I sent an email to
on 11/​25/​2013 and also called their offices multiple times and left multiple messages. I did not receive a response to my email inquiry nor did I receive a return phone call.
I paid for my website to be hosted from 12/​27/​2012 thru 12/​26/​2013. During that time it was down at least twice that I was aware of. I stand by my review and stand by the simple fact that customers should receive the service they pay for. In my case I did not, therefore I can’t withdraw my review as this company has requested that I do.

Matt and Kelly at Levitate Web Design are a bait and switch team that will coax you into a reasonably priced web development project, accept your deposit, then disappear. Don’t expect a returned phone call, any reasonable amount of communication, or professionalism. Matt and Kelly didn’t complete one task for me in the six weeks after accepting payment. When I attempted to cancel the project and receive even a pro-​rated portion of my deposit back, they refused. BUYER BEWARE

If you are interested in poor communication, no work and the ability to hide behind contract technicalities to ensure that they get paid without producing deliverables — this is your team. Would be happy to elaborate to help you avoid the same pitfalls, as I have done with the Better Business Bureau and Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Matt and Kelly offer top-​notch services for web design. They are sharp, innovative, and they really put energy into creating the best website I had imagined for my business. The website looks attractive and very professional. I have had many comments from other professionals that the site looks awesome.

Matt and Kelly were fantastic to work with… great ideas and all you’d expect from a cool local Austin business… fair pricing and turn around time. I will definitely continue to use them and highly recommend anyone needing a website designed or re-​tuned to give them a shot!

Levitate is amazing. They immediately created this sense that they knew what we were looking for and how to navigate. We had quite a bit of info we wanted to show and needed to create a site that was modular for new material without a huge effort. Matt and Kelly were very professional and patient in dealing with all.

I had worked with several other web design companies before I found Levitate. I could never find anyone that put customer service first. Luckily I happened across Levitate! Matt and Kelly were amazing!!! They got on my project immediately, they listened to my ideas and created exactly what I envisioned for my website. I felt like Matt and Kelly cared about my company as much as I do, and that kind of customer service is hard to find.

I have worked with Kelly now on several different projects. I keep going back to Levitate Web Design because of the fast response and turnaround time, high quality of work, and value. I get personal service quickly, and I know I will not have to spend a lot of time in revisions, because Kelly always seems to «get» what I’m going at on the first pass. This is a great company to work with, and I’m sure I will continue to use them for my graphic design needs.

Working with Levitate Web Design has been a great experience from start to finish. They are personable, efficient and effective. At a reasonable rate, I felt like I got a great value from my investment. This company helped me get my message/​website out in a professional manner that I was not able to accomplish by myself with other web tools. Also, I have received some very positive comments that we have an awesome looking website — I think so too! Thanks Matt and Kelly!
