Lashes de Bella

Well I tried to like this place but it just didn’t workout that way. I drive from New Braunfels to get my lashes done here and the first time was during a terrible thunderstorm where a «tornado» reportedly hit ground in San Marcos and 35 got flooded and shut down later. That was the morning I first went to get my lashes done here. I left an hour and a half before my appointment time driving in the worst rain I’ve ever seen driving at most 30mph on a highway. I call at 9 when they open and the same time of my appt to tell Jania that I’m 9 miles away but will take me 30 mins so I will be late. She began to tell me well I will reschedule your appointment that’s too late and so on. I was so upset I had to tell her how far I drove, how long I’ve been driving and ask if she’s aware of the weather. She then told me she will see what she will get done in the time left of my appointment. In which agreed.
By the time I got there I was actually there in 20 minutes. She was on the phone rescheduling people and calling people back for a good 10 minutes. We finally got started and she then told me how she was sorry about earlier and she will see me for the full hour. And I later realized that was because all her morning appointments cancelled.
Today I went in to get a refill with Jania. The first appointment I noticed she didn’t clean my lashes before taking old lashes off and putting on new ones. This time she did clean them but only because she saw I had a little old mascara on. She rubbed my eyes so hard. I haven’t even rubbed my eyes that hard. It was like she was trying to scrub them. After that she started taking off old eyelashes and pulled and prodded them off. There were a few times it hurt so much I squinted hard and moved my face. And it wasn’t over she put new lashes on would put her tweezers down loudly by my head and ear and huff and puff. So the whole appointment all I heard was frustrating huffs and puffs, slamming of her phone during fanning my face, slamming her tweezers by my ear, hard scraping on the the towel by my ear every time she got an old lash off and the painful pulling of old lashes. Worst experience ever! And I’ve been getting my lashes done for years. Never have I had an experience like this.
When it was over she suddenly seemed happy and showed me my lashes and I was so pissed to realize they were all short. I asked her what size she used she said 10s, 11s and a little 12s. I was so annoyed of everything, I just left it at that. She then tried to defend herself by saying I just put on you what you had on last. Which is a lie!!! I’ve never had such short lashes on ever. And I wouldn’t ask for them. I had 11, 12 and 13s on last. It’s always been that way in all the years I’ve gotten my lashes done!

My review is only a reflection of my Brazilian wax experience, so I won’t speak to their other services. I usually go to salons that specialize in waxing, so I was used to going in scared and being pleasantly surprised. For this occasion I bought a Groupon on a whim, so I feel like I got what I deserved. There was one employee working alone, and she was running late with her previous appointment, but she was apologetic and said we could get started in 10 – 15 minutes. The girl she was helping seemed especially chatty and kept wanting to buy things, so the appointment ended up starting about 45 minutes after my set time.
The aesthetician was pretty polite, so I don’t want to mention her specifically, but it was the most painful wax I’ve ever had. Usually those skilled hands whisk away hair before you even have the time to jump, but for this, there were several hard tugs before a «rip» that felt more like flesh removal, so I had a really hard time holding it together instead of asking to stop. Because I assume there were a lot of torn hairs, she reapplied very hot, stringy wax to the same areas of raw skin more than twice, which was extremely painful. I finally admitted it was burning so we could be done with it, and did a bit more tweezing at home the next day after puffiness had subsided. By the time inflammation and redness died down, I already had stubble from patches of broken hairs.
I think she tried to do a good job, but she admitted at one point that «nobody» goes to school wanting to do a service like that. Except maybe the people at places like European Wax Center, hopefully? Either way, I’m swearing off of waxes for a long time. If you’re still brave enough, I believe my best Brazilian experience was at Alite Laser. Great wax, very skilled staff, very little pain, smoothest finish, professional advice given after service.

I got a set of lashes with Rebecca, she did an amazing job! She was gentle and very professional. It’s been 2 weeks and they are still looking full, I’ve barely lost any. They look natural and I have gotten many compliments on them. I have gotten my lashes done in other places previously and it has just been meh, lashes started falling out the next day or they just weren’t good quality etc…
I must also add, Rebecca smelled nice. I know that sounds SO creepy! I promise I’m not a weirdo! I’ve been to places in the past where it was so unpleasant laying there for nearly 2 hours because the person smelled like cigarettes, food, or just in general they had bad breath. I know I was chewing gum because I didn’t want her smelling my tea breath!
So far I am very happy with my results, I look forward to my next appointment to get them filled.

I went here to get my eyelashes tinted and the woman dripped dye on my eyebrow leaving a giant black spot in the center. She did not even offer to fix my eyebrows or to give me the service for free because she clearly made a huge mistake. The dot was huge & very obvious. I had to get my eyebrows tinted for the first time in my entire life because of this incident. & on top of that my eyelashes still looked like shit.

Where do I even begin… I was greeted by an extremely unwelcoming staff with an attitude. There were three girls working and they seemed completely unprepared for customers. They were standing there gossiping pretending I wasn’t in the room and it was really weird and uncomfortable. I asked one girl about the bareminerals and she gave me a one word answer and looked the other direction.
I waited on the couch while the girls tried to allocate a form for me to fill out. While this was happening, the girl who was doing my wax came out and asked the others if her last client had left her and tip and if so how much? She did this right in front of me and it was completely unprofessional.
While waxing me she was cold, made no conversation, and hardly acknowledged my attempt to make any. The whole experience was awkward. She seemed to have little waxing experience based of the technique she used which made for an extremely painful wax.
The sugar left me sore all day and with a ton of strangling hair that I had to clean up myself. I was left with wax bits all over that I had to take care of as well.
The facilities look like a poorly decorated dorm room furnished with the reject items left over from targets back to school selection. Very poor taste and extremely run down. There were many light bulbs missing in the tacky lights and the place looked like it was not taken care of at all.

Love love love this place! I have been going to lashes de Bella for almost 2 years now. All the girls are great but Lily does awesome lashes! I just started getting facials here too because they always have great specials and the facials are so relaxing! Highly recommend this spot. Easy to book

Baby Boomer Peel with a follow up facial is the way to go… My skin looks & feels amazing! Rhonda Allison products are worth every $$ and I look forward to trying out more services with Elizabeth :)

Very bad experience. Not professional on their knowledge and attitude. Long story short, there are a lot of other nice skin care places.

Michelle is the best! I got my first set of lashes with her when she first opened almost 3 years ago. Since then I’ve moved from Austin and tried different places but none of them compare to Lashes de Bella. I now drive from Houston once a month just so I can have my lashes done by Michelle. I’ve tried extreme lashes with another place and I just didn’t like the way they felt on my eyes so I definitely prefer novalash. The style and length are always to my liking and if I want something a little different with the style or length it’s never a problem to change it up. It’s a very relaxing experience, I usually will fall asleep while I get mine done. Pricing is very reasonable as well.

Very disappointing experience, I had a facial. Both staff members were less than courteous or professional. They made issues about everything, the interactions were awkward and they made me uncomfortable. I didn’t think the facial was well done, she didn’t explain everything, and it was rushed. One attendant told it was a 45 minute treatment, the woman who did the facial spent exactly 28 minutes. The wrap she put on my„ really covered part of my face so it wasn’t even a full facial. Ugh how disappointing. Less than polite, I was dying of thirst, they didn’t even offer me some water. Not welcoming at all. I found them to be grossly unprofessional. Stay away from them, they are awful.

Rebecca is AWESOME! So sweet and amazing at her job. I found this place from buying a groupon and have been back 3 times since. From lashes to Brazilians to eyebrows… Rebecca knows her stuff!

This update is long overdue. I was actually contacted by the owner after my experience. She offered to redo my lashes and did a much better job in applying.
I would recommend upgrading to mink lashes. They feel much more natural and not as stiff. *I didn’t get mink lashes at this boutique.* I had regular synthetic lashes (faux mink) applied. There is a huge difference in the overall product quality and price.

I got my first set of lashes here yesterday. First at bella, and first ever. I did a lot of research and wanted to go to a salon that used novolash glue. I also found the prices here to be the most reasonable.
I had Holly, who worked diligently for 2 hours on me. talk about hard work! I appreciate how thorough she was. I am afraid I may never go back to my regular wimpy lashes! Holly was easy to talk to, but also didnt talk your ear off and let you chill as she did her work.
A couple of tugs or pinches are to be expected, I think, since you are working with glue in teeny tiny amounts and spaces.
The salon is cute. Holly had no one else helping out at the front desk, so I cant speak about other staff, although it was a breeze scheduling my appointment.
I personally disregard bad reviews after someone buys a groupon — I just dont think that is the best way to see what a salon or business is all about.
My lashes look great, already have had tons of compliments, and I will be back!

Michelle F.: I appreciate you taking the time to write a dissertation about your salon etc. not even going to go into details about the rest because I believe I was already thorough. But you LOST my business and a few others based on how you «reacted» and decided to get «creative» by discrediting a ‘former’ loyal customer. If you had acted accordingly rather than Defensive or Implying outright LIES, maybe we could have resolved this.
I really shouldn’t have to add that you lost more potential business because I’m a huge ‘word of mouth’ sort of gal. And now it’s more than negative but of pure disgust to be perfectly honest. A year or less. who honestly cares about the semantics of it all? I gave your establishment my hard-​earned money for a little less than a year perhaps. Needless to say, I didn’t take or care to take the time to look over my statements to see when I started my first visit.
The only reason that I’m even taking the time now to continue with this review and retort is because I think it is IMPERATIVE that new, as well as old customers realize the mentality of the Owner, yes you, Michelle F. You’re insulting, rude and an outright LIAR. There’s no other word for it. FACTUAL. But we all have freedom of choice. It’s just nice to know now how someone is treated, when they offer any constructive criticism. You SHOULD have offered a contact request before stating lies about someone you didn’t even know. That’s the hilarity of it all.
Now you actually expect me to contact the salon? WOW. You have some balls. I’ve already moved on. it really doesn’t matter what your salon has done and the 3 years or so, it has been open. Clearly, you are needing new business because you continue to offer deals and Groupons. Plus shame on your for insulting anyone using a Groupon. Really?
Regardless of your establishment, Service to ME is KING! Good luck with your endeavors, but once again, how you handled this former ‘customer’s valid issue was POOR, UNPROFESSIONAL and most of all UNCOUTH. I”ve already taken my business to someone that Appreciates it. And if I were to have any issues, I’m sure she would address it accordingly as a professional. I do hope this is a learning experience for you. I question, as should others, some of the positive reviews and tips posted on your Unilocal page. Enjoy your day and your New Year…

I had a decent experience here. The gal who normally does my lashes moved way north so I was in a pinch to get some south. I scheduled online the same day for a mini Siberian lash (I like the light-​weight feel of these) and was in and out within an hour with a set of great lashes for $ 50! I’ll definitely be back.

I went to Unilocal to find a good place for eyelash extensions… I was very pleased with Lashes De Bella. I asked for Michelle since she was mentioned several times as a good technician. I was comfortable and all questions were answered. I dont have to wear mascara or eyeshadow anymore… Hurray!

I often go so long without wearing make up that I kinda forget how to put it on, so the idea of me being the sort of person to get fake eyelashes is a bit counter-​intuitive. On the surface. See, it is actually pretty pragmatic once you break it down. Here’s why —
I only ever learned the girlie talents of applying eyeliner, french braiding and mastering the fine art of the 80’s hair poof and elaborate up-do’s because I had an older sister who pulled me out of swamps and trees and forced me to learn .
Point being: I’d rather be climbing a tree than applying make-​up. I don’t like having to think about eyelashes /​makeup blah blah blah. I also live a last-​minute kinda life where I often need to toss on some shoes and run out the door. But. yes, I’m weird in that I’m actually a natural blonde. For those who don’t know the significance of that… it means your eyelashes are blonde too. As in transparent. As in it looks like you don’t have any. Or that you just had a grill accident and your eyelashes got burned off and something a bit strange is going on with your face.
When I saw a groupon for this eyelash thingamabob and thought… hmmm… if this works I won’t have to:
a) Buy Mascara (expensive to get stuff that isn’t irritating to my eyes)
b) Apply Mascara (which is not how I like spending my time)
c) Wear Mascara (which invariably gets smudged and prevents spontaneously jumping into creeks, rivers and pools)
d) Remove Mascara (which… who likes doing that at the end of the day? I don’t.)
So, I read reviews of different folks and picked Mary. I’ve been going to her for a while now and she’s great. Wouldn’t change a thing.
Excellent at what she does? Yup
Professional? Yup
Easy to chat with? Yup
Relaxing enough that I could doze off if I wanted? Yup
Listens to what you want? Yup
By listens to what you want I mean this:
I told Mary that I feel the same way about eyelashes as I do about engagement rings. I don’t want a ring to walk in the room before me. You know, those Dallas-​type, five inch diamonds that are so big they prevent you from climbing trees? The type of ring that says, ’ My ring is bigger than my personality and really just a way for my husband to weigh me down.’ Ya, that. That, is what I decidedly do NOT want in eyelashes either.
I decidedly did NOT want my eyelashes to walk in before me. I didn’t want them to be noticed much at all. I asked Mary if it was possible to do eyelashes so it would just look like I had mascara on instead of making people wonder if I was capable of flying if I batted my eyelashes fast enough. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking the Lady Gaga, Katy Perry thing if that is what you go for. I just don’t have the Lady Gaga attitude required to pull that look off.
And so, Mary listened, understood and totally delivered.
Just had dinner with a friend I hadn’t seen for a while and she commented, «You should wear mascara more often, it makes your eyes look so nice.»
Totally passed the subtle test. Just looked like mascara. Thanks Mary!

Eyelash extensions are awesome!
And this place has great ones! The glue they use is different from most other places. Usually, you’re not allowed to use oil-​based makeup or cleansers. But not this glue!
I was a little skeptical when she first told me that I didn’t have to worry about oil based things. But then, I could really tell a difference in the glue!!!
AND, the biggest thing I liked about Lashes del Bella… the eyelashes do NOT poke your eyes as time goes on!!! Usually, after a few weeks, the eyelashes start to fall out and the ends come off a little and start to poke your eyes. it’s realllllly annoying, but beauty is pain?

I almost don’t want to give this place 5 stars because I don’t want too many people taking up my appointment times, but I have to get them props. They’ve been doing my lashes for 6 months now, and they do it perfectly every time. There are two locations, and one of them is a little hard to find as it is in the back of a little boutique in West lake, but it’s still cozy and just as easy to get to as S. 1^st.
They are professional, quick, and reasonably priced. In fact, this is the best deal I can find in Austin. Also, the actual lashes that they use are of a higher quality than at other places I’ve been to. The best lash tech in my opinion is Stefani; She’s very fast, she is a total perfectionist as my lashes are always perfectly straight and not tangled, and she is a total sweetheart. Plus she has cool music.
Michelle is also great at doing lashes, and she is the owner. She generously donated a full set of lashes to the silent auction for a non-​profit I am involved in, and I will continue to be a loyal client! Thanks Michelle!
