Lamar Union Apartments, A Greystar Elan Community

Lovely apartment. Kind and courteous staff. Beautiful area of town! I am happy to live here and encourage anyone looking to live in ’04 to check it out.

Hands down best apartment to rent in Austin. Not only will you get brand new, never lived in apartment but the most amazing amenities I have seen offered. I moved in in July and have lived here about 6 months. The staff is amazing, I have been to pool parties, beer/​wine/​chocolate tastings, on the weekends they have juice and Bloody Mary bars … I could go on and on. The staff are so friendly, kind and helpful. I love this apartment and feel so lucky to live here.

Our little family has been living in our Lamar Union apartment for a few weeks. Moving across the country in the summer, the Lamar Union Management Team helped us tremendously in having a smooth transition, especially since we have little ones. First thing that is fantastic about this complex is the location. It really does not get better than this. Minutes from Whole Foods, Anthropologie, Downtown Restaurants, easy access to highways and an amazing Austin vibe as it lays on South Lamar. Super close to South Congress as well.
The amenities this complex offers are awesome. the rooftop pool and sky lounge are both fun, relaxing and have an incredible view of the city. The Leasing Team works really hard to meet our needs and fix any issues that may arise. We did have a few things that happened when we first arrived and the Team immediately had maintenance onsite to fix them. We have not had anything happen since. They are friendly and quick to greet anyone (including furry and naked babies) when you enter the leasing office and there is an immediate fun and happy vibe the moment you step into the Leasing Office. Samantha, Ally, Christine and Kim have been an incredible resource for me as they are always positive, friendly, and are instantly ready to help us in any way. Cannot forget Benny, head of maintenance. he is the best.
If you are looking for a new and fresh apartment, great location with amenities and a Leasing Staff that will allow you to have a safe and clean home. Lamar Union is for you!

Best apartment management people (friends) I have ever, ever, ever met at Lamar Union Apartments wow! The apartments are brand new, downtown and pretty amazing too. Give them a call, I’m off to their FREE BEER tasting!

I have lived at Lamar Union for about a month now and couldn’t be any happier. After visiting many of the new buildings in Austin, I’m glad that I chose to make this one home. The pool, gym, and sky lounge are among the best in the city. The apartments are all very nice and well put together. The price is VERY reasonable. The staff here has been amazingly helpful, friendly, and professional. The ENTIRE complex is cleaned nearly every day. The community events have been great as well (comped Alamo movie tickets, pool party w/​DJ and FREE drinks, wine & cheese tasting, food tasting, etc.) Lamar Union is definitely worth a look for anyone moving to the area and easily one of the top complexes in Austin.

UPDATE: Over the past couple weeks Christine and Lamar Union has really stepped it up. They heard our concerns and I can happily say they have worked with residents to calm the general frustration many people were facing in relation with the amenities and the promised time to completion. They changed up the leasing team, provided fitness classes on site, gave pool passes to Barton Springs, and gave a concession on the rent. Overall, a satisfactory result. They unfortunately can’t fix the initial experience or the delay in resolution, so I’m not able to rate higher than 3 stars at this time.

I have never lived in an apartment community that has so much to offer! In the short week we have been at Lamar Union, they have sponsored a Wine & Cheese tasting event AND given us a complimentary pass to any pool in Austin. Their staff is always courteous and pleasant, not once have they failed to answer our questions with a smile on their face. I look forward to spending the rest of our lease living in bliss! They are perfectly located at the Alamo Drafthouse on S. Lamar which is close enough to downtown to be able to commute on your bike or the bus BUT also far away enough to not be bothered by the rambunctious night life. Barton Springs and Zilker Park is our new backyard!
They are still under construction but are making up for it by hosting events and making everyone feel at home.

In the past few weeks, I can truly say that the management has stepped up and things have changed. Apparently they’ve changed the whole leasing team and now things seem to be working a bit smoother. Christine was great at handling all the conflicts that arose with the residents due to the delay of the amenities and communication has definitely improved a lot in these weeks.

Truth is, I have been nothing but disappointed ever since moving here. I was very excited about it as it was a brand new apartment that had the amenities I was looking for: gym and pool. Sure, location is great as well, but it wasn’t what sold it for me. I knew from the start that most (all of them really) amenities weren’t going to be done until the end of march, but I was willing to wait a month for it (I moved in at the end of February).
Sadly, they won’t be open until the END of SUMMER. We just found out about this through a casual comment in a newsletter they sent through an email. I didn’t even get it, my boyfriend did. I found that disrespectful as my name is also on the lease and they have not hesitated to call me several times to ask me to go to the leasing office to fill out papers and forms they’d forgotten to give me sooner. So if it’s been that easy for them to contact me when they’ve needed something, wouldn’t it be reasonable for them to contact me to let me know about the delays?
Apart from the amenities issue, the rest of the experience with them has been equally as bad. The management has given us different information time and time again, they’ve lied to our faces, changed the facts around and have made us come in to sign papers multiple times. I know they’re humans and mistakes happen, but when they make you go to the leasing office 4 times for something that could have been resolved in just one trip down there (adding a pet to the lease), it’s frustrating.
The build quality is not the best either. The detailing in the apartment is not what you expect when you’re paying such a high price. There were scratches on the window frames, the floors had dents, the ‘sun shades’ don’t block a lot of light out and were awfully installed (they had to come re install the one in the bedroom), etc. On top of that, they had to come and fix the sink four times before they finally got it right (within the first month we’d been living here) and they disconnected the dishwasher while doing so without knowing, causing us to file yet another maintenance request.
Overall it has not been a good experience and unless they make some improvements in the near future, I recommend looking at other complexes nearby (there are plenty of them) before moving here.
