Hidden in the heart of Austin, TX, La Pâtisserie will transport you into a quiet street in Paris where nothing matters except a delicious cup of coffee paired with a moist financier, a decadent gâteau l’opera, a perfectly flaky mille-​feuille or one of our signature and beloved French macarons.

Owner and head baker Soraiya Negree fell headfirst in love with French cuisine upon her first visit to Paris at age ten and has made countless subsequent visits to fill herself up with the smells and sounds of Paris and bring them back to her own shop. La Pâtisserie’s macarons have developed a cult following in Austin and are shipped nationally, and our treats have dominated the Austin Chocolate Festival in categories including «Best Cookie», «Best Fudge», «Best Brownie», and «Best Dessert». At La Pâtisserie, we are committed to crafting only the finest desserts from scratch, which starts with using only the finest ingredients, such as King Arthur flour and Callebaut Belgian chocolate. Nothing in our case takes less than three days to process and prepare — you can truly taste the passion, care, and Parisian magic in each treat.

Whether you are planning your dream wedding complete with a macaron tower or just need a quiet place to relax, we invite you to our small but lovely space in the beautiful old house on South 1st, complete with comfy chairs and an indoor children’s play area. History

Established in 2010.

Owner Soraiya Negree was whisked away by dreams of Paris at age ten, and her passion for French sweets led her to establishing La Pâtisserie in the heart of South 1st in 2010. La Pâtisserie is run by a team of passionate and dedicated bakers that truly believe in our core philosophy and sustained by our strong local fan base. It has been an honor and delight to serve our native Austinites for the past four years, and we hope to continue to make our wonderful customers proud for many years to come.

Business Owner

Soraiya Negree, owner and baker of La Pâtisserie, lives by famous American writer Gertrude Stein’s quote — «America is my country and Paris is my hometown.» A Parisian infatuation has transformed this brilliant engineer into a brilliant pastry chef with a penchant for all things sweet. Opening her own French pastry shop has been her dream for over 20 years, and after years of perfecting the concept, her vision is now complete with the opening of La Pâtisserie. She feels lucky to do what she loves daily and looks forward to serving Austin natives and visitors alike for many years to come!

The perfect place for a relaxing, Sunday afternoon. The light coming in through the windows, the soothing French sounds of Edith Piaf, and, of course, the delicate sweet treats. I couldn’t have picked a better place to read Proust and meander through sentences that last longer than a French macaron.
I shall return in search of this place again, but altering my experience and I’ll explain why below.
Pros:
–Interior décor transports you back to a 100-​year-​old home with hardwood floors, white walls, and light gliding through window panes.
–My first French macaron (Chocolate Chile): Soft, sweet, with a spice on the back of the tongue, all collapsing in my mouth. Much better than I ever imagined something so small could taste.
–The Cronut: Cinnamon, sugar, and cream in a donut. Would definitely order this again.
Cons:
–The room where the light travels into is also the children’s playroom. There were no children playing on this day thankfully but I’m foreseeing future problems.
–I adore Chocolate Croissants. The buttery, flaky texture sweetened by a semi-​sweet chocolate filling, ah yes. Alas, this was not that. No flaky. No buttery. Dry and more like bread than the croissants I’m used to. This is what I won’t be ordering next time.
–This place was popular on this quiet afternoon among loud bachelerettes on some kind of tour. Luckily, the service was so fast that they used the restroom and ordered their treats in a few minutes without disturbing my afternoon reading for too long.

Having first tried only the bread that was given to me on a food truck tour, I was so happy that I finally got around to coming here. Very limited indoor seating, especially since this was a very chilly, cloudy, yucky Saturday morning, and my friend and I ended up having to sit outside. It was difficult to decide among all of the beautiful options, but eventually we decided to split an almond macaroon, a raspberry pistachio pastry and a lemon blueberry scone. Everything was perfect and beautiful! The coffee, however, is where it fell flat for me. I ordered an almond milk latte, and while it got the job done, I would not go back for espresso beverages alone. However, I am completely smitten with this place.

La Patisserie, I am sad. You had me hooked on your big cream puffs filled with rich, ooey, gooey vanilla bean goodness. I came back this weekend after taking a half a year to a year long hiatus from stuffing my face silly with your sinful delights only to find that you had completely changed the cream puff that I so longingly daydreamed about. It is now a mini cream puff– which I can deal with– but the star of the show, the cream itself, is completely different and not so delectable anymore. What gives?!
Edit: Someone took this very personally and pmed me about my updated review. LOLLZZ. For the sake of humoring this person, I will also note that the chocolate croissant I purchased this weekend was lackluster.
According to Unilocal,2 stars expresses something along the lines of «I’ve had better,» and I’ve very definitely had better.

Still a completely quaint place that I had been away from for far too long.
I got a mocha, delicious, still coffee.…Not like some of these hot chocolate tasting things that are called mochas — really nice.
I had the walnut/​apple croissant — the pastry was nice but I would like more filling.
My friend had a wild berry (maybe wild strawberry?) macaroon that was really nice as well, in fact she’s hooked and we’re going back. She had a peppermint mocha that she enjoyed.
Such a sweet, charming place.

Super cute pastry shop in South Austin! My friend and I picked up a dozen macarons and coffee and we were extremely pleased with our choices. I particularly loved the lavender and the pistachio macarons but the other flavors are just as great. The place is pretty tiny, so I would be safe and make your order to go.

I don’t know, if you’re really into amazing things maybe give this place a shot. Had the cronut, immediately had to buy another one because it was that good. That coupled with witty banter and a great atmosphere makes this place the gem you’ve been looking for. You’re welcome.

This shop is a cute, chill hangout place (and it’s right next to the «Welcome to Austin» wall!!!)!
Anyway,
I got 3 macarons ($ 2.25): salted caramel, orange honey cardamom, and pumpkin cheesecake. I liked the orange honey and pumpkin, but salted caramel was just okay.
A previous review said the cookie was grainy and I totally agree. I wasn’t digging that texture very much but the macarons are pretty good and pretty good size– not the best, but not disappointing. The filling to cookie ratio wasn’t super noticeable. maybe there was a little more filling.
I also got an almond croissant which was half off after 3 PM. It was also pretty average; not amazing.
I ended up paying $ 6.25 for everything because I checked in on here and got a macaron for free plus that happy hour.
So, overall I was just satisfied. I’m not really adamant about going back but it’s a cute spot, they have a good selection of cakes and whatnot, and the prices aren’t bad…

I give this place 4 start, but the Cronuts are amazing… specifically the chocolate peanut butter one. It will change your life… seriously.
It’s airy, light, balanced and not too sweet. The chocolate i think is dark chocolate, the peanut butter compliments but doesn’t overwhelm and the filling is smooth and creamy. I also had a latte and the drink was good.
The place itself is tiny and IT NEEDS BACKGROUND MUSIC. It’s clean, but charming in size:)
Overall the cronut has a great balance of each ingredient and I’ve been craving another one ever sense. I’d recommend going there and getting it to go.

Tried the crio brio aka austin’s cronut. I get the choc covered. — its my first cronut so I’m not a connoisseur by any means but it was good. Not too sweet. Very nice lightly sweetened cream inside and the chocolate on top is not sweet at all. 1 was plenty– they’re not super light.

My friend and I came here this morning since it was next to the Austin mural. We each ordered one macaroon. I got rose and she got vanilla.
Having just had Laduree in NYC last week I couldn’t help but compare it to their delicious macaroons! Unfortunately this fell short in comparison.
The macaroon didn’t taste fresh to me. The flavor was okay, but the texture of the shell was chewy in a weird way. The price is a bit steep too. $ 2.10 for each macaroon. That’s Laduree prices but not Laduree quality.

I had this place bookmarked on Unilocal and I saw the Austin mural first, parked to take picture of the mural, and notice I also stumbled upon this little macaron joint!
I came here on a late Sunday afternoon and most of the macarons flavors were already sold out. I had to settle with rose, salted caramel, and chocolate. Which all 3 were decently tasty, I just wish they had made more or I had came earlier.
The location is in a neighborhood in the corner, looks like a small house, some tables and chairs outside.
Definitely take a picture with the Austin mural!

The lady working the counter was really sweet and pleasant to converse with. She took the time to explain the various macarons, pastries and desserts. However, I came here around noon on a weekday and the desserts were already slim pickings. Does this mean that the desserts have already gone in the morning or does this mean that they hadn’t replenished anything and the 2 cake slices left was since last night?
Anyways, the macarons here that are claimed to be amazing. really were not. They weren’t terrible, but they definitely weren’t great either which leads to the 3 stars.
I am a huge fan of macarons and have tried many (all across Asia & North America) so I definitely have a preference for what texture of macarons I like (I’m sure many can agree). First off, the macarons did not taste fresh. The macarons were bigger than normal sizes. But big doesn’t mean better sometimes. The texture of the shells were grainy, chunky and kinda hard to chew through. The filling, definitely there wasn’t enough. The ratio for the shell vs filling was not balanced. The flavors were okay, very light and couldn’t taste much. I ordered a box of 6 and had the chocolate, salted caramel, cardamon, lavender and I cant remember the rest.
So the verdict is… the macarons here are not to my liking.

Super cute bakery with an awesome barista/​cashier. Love the decorations – shabby chic overstuffed armchairs and mismatched black chairs, whimsical wall art, and soft muted colors.
Tried their lavender macaron and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Chewy on the outside and delightfully creamy on the inside. Love, love, love.
The cortado, espresso cut with a small amount of milk (they offer cow, almond, and soy), was delicious. And prepared with such skill and patience by the business’s lovely staff.
La Patisserie has a dedicated area for kiddos to play and eat, which is nice. Helps moms and dads who are looking for a bit of serenity in a most likely busy day.
Grab a cup of jo or a box of macarons to go, or sit here and leisurely sip on your beverage while studying.

Gotta go for the macarons! I came here just to try out their macarons but I got more than I expected. Location is next to houses and a small business strip. The parking is behind the bakery and the lot is a bit small.
I got three macarons: Passion fruit, cademon honey and wild strawberry.
The passion fruit was just ok but I that was just a random pick.
The cademon and honey was pretty good, didn’t really have a distinct flavor but you can taste the honey.
The wild strawberry was my second favorite, this was a simple flavor.
My rating goes mostly to the texture. To me, macarons are all about texure! The shell to the inner and the filling. The shell was a bit grainy, guessing they didn’t sift the flour enough. The inner was good, not too wet and not too dry. In other words. chewy but not too crunchy. The fillings were all good, wasn’t overloaded but had enough. With a macaron the textures should be semi hard to soft to really soft. I’m no expert baker but I am a baker so I’ve made these before.
The cool part of my visit was the pastry happy hour! Never seen a bakery that does happy hour but it’s a good idea. HH deal is half off all croissant pastries. I had the almond croissant and it was delish! The first words that came out of my mouth was oh my gosh! HH is 3pm to close to better get yourself over there before they close!
Reason #3 to visit Austin again!

Macaroons are so hard to describe to someone who has never had one before. The outsides have an eggshell like crunch, and the inside is soft and gooey like a marshmallow. There is a delicate cream filling in the center and the flavors are often soft and subtle. These two bite treats are so light and airy that you can eat a million before you even realize it. But it’s ok since they are made with egg whites, meaning they have zero calories and are practically health food. (in my mind at least ;-))
There is a check in offer for Unilocalers to get 2 free mini macaroons with a $ 7 purchase. They were out of those when I went so they gave me one full size for free instead. Can I just say how amazing their display case is? Homemade pop tarts, lovely cakes, macaroons the colors of the rainbow, and chocolate croissants, oh my! They also make frou frou coffee drinks that look delicious.
There were no flavor signs by the macaroons but the awesome lady behind the counter took the time to list each one off for me. Some of their seasonal flavors right now include caramel apple, gingerbread, and two types of peppermint ones (I believe one with white and one with milk chocolate fillings, but not entirely sure).
For myself I chose two vanilla ones because they are my favorite, one champagne, one caramel apple, and one espresso. The champagne one blew me away. I was not expecting it to be bright pink and almost shimmery in color but it was phenomenal! Honestly I thought they all were! I would love to come back here again for a cappuccino and a chocolate croissant. The inside is cozy and smells divine. What better gift idea than a few macaroons for the people you love most? I know it would be a gift I would be more than happy to receive!

We stopped by this place after lunch since it was in my boyfriend’s old neighborhood and his parents were wanting some coffee. The place is an old house and very quaint inside. I loved seeing the paintings from local artists hung on the walls and they even have a little play area for children in one of the back rooms.
We tried one of their croissant amande (almond croissant) and had macaroon that we got for free for checking in (scoreee!!!). The macaroon was cherry and cracked black pepper flavor — I thought it was really tasty! It had a nice bite to it and it was very light and airy. The croissant, on the other hand, was not very good. It was cut in half and had an almond spread on it, which made the croissant soggy and dense. The taste of the spread was good, but it did not seem to complement the croissant very well. The croissant itself was not very flaky or crusty either, so it was kind of a disappointment.
Everything else about this place makes me want to come back and try the other baked goods, though. I am sure this croissant thing was just a misunderstanding, but it’s definitely something worth mentioning!

It was alright. The girl that helped us seemed a little apathetic, like she wasn’t too thrilled to be there. I thought this was supposed to be a nice bakery!
As for the atmosphere, I think it would be a nice place to stop and have a cup of coffee. Looks cozy.
Had a chocolate croissant, a crobrio… they weren’t fresh. If I had an oven at home, I’d toast it and I’m sure it would’ve tasted ok. But it would have been nice to try something when it’s fresh. We came late in the day. They ran out of the macaron checkin, so they gave us the small macarons in place.
