This little taqueria has been improving ever since it opened. My family and I are pretty loyal customers so we definitely get our taco fix here. For the most part that’s all I order because the fajita and barbacoa tacos are really good. I appreciate their salsa and chips too, very fresh. I definitely have to comment about their renovations too, they seem to spruce up the place a lot and I think it’s very fitting to the feel of the place. The service here is pretty fast but it can get crowded too especially during the lunch hour. Overall, I’ve never had a bad experience here except that time that they ran out of barbacoa meat…

I hate to say it and I don’t like writing bad reviews but I am considering calling the health department due to the fact that I found(2) RATTURDS rolled up in my tortillas. Been here many times and this last time killed it for me… I’m completely grossed out.

This was my fourth experience here. The first three were fine. This past experience was the worst. I had asked for my eggs over easy. A simple request as a dinner. Eggs come out medium. There’s a difference. I asked for a new eggs please. As I waited I started eating the bacon and toast. As I grab a piece of toast they had served the end piece of the loaf. In all of my dinning I cant remember being served the end piece of the loaf. I then asked for a new piece. After seven minutes of waiting on the eggs my toast comes out. I asked where my eggs were and they didn’t know. I asked for a manager and was told there wasn’t one. I got up from my breakfast and left. Now, this is first world problems I know. However, they need to pay attention to the details and they failed!

Not quite as good as the one in Oak hill — service was a bit slower and prices higher. Salsa was terrific– and as good as anything else close by. Chips were fresh — I had the combination plate see picture

The green sauce knocked the snot right out of me… in a good way. And any place that gives me a giant squeeze bottle of the stuff is golden in my book. It’s like the TacoDeli dona sauce but without the portion control. No more licking the inside of those little cups hoping for one more drop of fiery green bliss. Here, my inner salsa addict can leave satisfied.

Just really great super legit mexican food. Love the salsa served with the chips. LOVE the horchata. Love the charro beans, seriously sometimes I skip that rice and get a double portion of charro beans in a small bowl. Beyond that the enchiladas are great, as well everything else I’ve ever had there.

My family ate here Sunday brunch time and it was delicious and affordable. We ordered the ceviche, quesadillas, and enchiladas. All the food was tasty and fresh. We loved all of the salsas. The service was great too. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but if you are looking for some affordable, authentic Tex Mex you should check it out.

Sorry, I only eat one thing here. Steak Tacos with Cheese and Peppers. This place is the real deal. I’m from Cali, and all these«Tex-Mex» tacos are disgusting. This is yummy. Good steak, good cheese, good Peppers. I eat here at least twice a week. If you think Taco Cabana is yummy, this is not for you. Just going to be straight up, plenty of legit Latinos in here, so you know its good.

Tried the caldo de res today and it was amazing. Tastes like it had been stewing forever and wonderful deep beef broth flavor. It also came with a good amount of beef as well. A must try and a definite go back for dish.

One taco at a time, this establishment is taking over my tummy. 4 stars because the red sauce is not very good. Go with green, and your in the clean. Wait staff: Straight 7’s across the board. These ladies provide valuable eye candy while I’m remembering the correct combination of beans, eggs, cheese, bacon, chorizo, potato, pepper, onion, or even beans. Come for the tacos, stay for the hospitality. Amen.

This place has the promise of authenticity if not the the most consistent food. I had a very tasty curry of beef tongue in a tomatillo sauce which was very tasty! But then the Sope was very strange. The substrate was this thin and fried-to a crisp wafer of masa. Not the nice, hand-pressed Masa you get at so many other places. And the cheese on it was Monterey Jack instead of queso fresco. It’s clearly not their thing. With so many places making their own corn tortillas, I am now getting dissappointed when I get served store bought. But really, I am probably just getting spoiled on that front. There is really nothing wrong with a store bought corn tortilla. I got great ones at Juan’s for years! Salsa: 2 great authentic green ones pretty close to the standard bearers(Fruta Feliz). Not bad. Worth further exploration…

So tired of them getting my order wrong. Food is fine, but there’s plenty of good TexMex places. One time my order was so wrong that I sent it back — which is something I do like once every 10 years. And here’s today’s episode with my to go order: «Yeah, I just got home and my order’s totally wrong. Not even close.» «I’m sorry. She doesn’t understand English.» «Well, how do you say enchilada in Spanish?» «Enchilada.» “Exactly.“ Then I was told if I want to drive all the way back, in the middle of Congress traffic, they’d do me the grand favor of remaking my order. Wouldn’t credit me, wouldn’t give me a discount next time, nothing… Well, I won’t be driving back there today or any other day. Like I said, plenty of great places to get Mexican food in South Austin.

Pretty good food but the service was a little slow. I suppose I can forgive them because they had to prepare for a party of eleven or so. I ordered shrimp with an avocado margarita. It was excellent. Great atmosphere, good food, it was just a fun time. I would definitely come back again.

I ordered their enchiladas and a taco and wasn’t impressed. The roomy and I went here some time last year and I can’t even remember what I had. I guess that’s how forgettable this place is. To be honest I only like my enchiladas from El Borrego. I did like their taco. It wasn’t anything special and it tasted like something from Taco Bell. So now I know where I can go for my late night Taco cravings.

Big meh… I has the Milanesa torta and it tasted like the old oil it was cooked in. They have a green salsa which i have had many times other places and this one was bland and it had no kick. At least it was cheap.

You can get 3 breakfast tacos here for $ 2.99. There neither bad nor great. Just OK. The included salsa was a bit too watery for me as well. The tacos were cheap and did not leave me hungry. However, like I said before, they were just OK.

This is oddly one of my favorite restaurants in Austin They give you a Free hot batch of Chips with Salsa no matter what when you sit down, their Prices are killer, and every Meal I have had there has been 100% on point. I usually get the same thing every time. Tall Glass of Water, Bottomless Coffee, and then the Chapala Breakfast that has 4 slices of toast with jelly, Bacon, Sausage, 2 eggs, and home Fries and my final tab when I leave is about 7 bucks and thats after a couple dollars tip. Another few meals that are good is the Beef Fajita Quesadilla Special, or the Beef Fajita Dinner. Enjoy

I love this place. We come over here after church every other Sunday or so, and we can’t get enough of it. From the fantastic corn tortillas that don’t tear up to the Specíal Quesadillas, there is something for almost everyone here, whether you like authentic Mexican cooking or the milder TexMex version. And save room for great flan! If you manage to not fill up on chips and salsa before your meal, you will have room and cash left over for a tasty dessert. I’m not so crazy about the canteloupe nectar or the tres leches cake. Service is always friendly and helpful.

DISCLAIMER: I’m a vegan gringo, and although also gringo, my carnivorous parents approve. And it’s probably a good sign that most of the patrons are not gringos. FOOD: Best nopales evaaar! Hefty portion of avocado. Their corn tortillas have the perfect texture and don’t crack when rolled. Salsa is great. All in all, it felt fresh and light for mexican food. Parents raved over an enchilada plate and carne guisada. PRICE: Tacos for less than $ 2 at lunch, and $ 1 tacos at breakfast(before 11am). Each taco comes with two tortillas. My sister and I did lunch for less than $ 10 before tip. SERVICE: Tip like the food’s not cheap! They are always quick, friendly, and patient with my spanglish.

I never would have known about this place had I not had car trouble nearby. While my hero manly man replaced the starter on my car… we stopped in here to grab a quick lunch during the ordeal. Knowing I was about to fork over major cash for car repair, I really appreciated the 4.99 lunch special. We both got that… Thursday enchiladas. Chicken with Green Sauce. He had the Beef with Red Sauce. Both were adequately slathered with cheese, mine white, his yellow. 3 to a plate and they were thick and delicious. The salsa was a tad salty but still tasty. The waitress didn’t mind fixing us to go ice teas which we were happy to have later as we continued the quest for auto parts… got outta there for around 15 bucks and plenty full.
