Kebab Time

Pretty disappointed. Decided to check out Kebab Time and forego my usual Kismet run since I saw a hooked deal, however, the truck was no where to be found. Wanted to try something new but maybe I’ll stick to Kismet next time.

So first off I am told that the menu was crafted by a REAL turkish chef that had many years of experience, not some wanna bes.
I want to say kebab time serves a good balance of meat and veggies… i know my family will approve lol. Of course they have fries… if i want to be a little naughty on the carbs, i can.
I learned that Turkish ancestry linked back to Asia so I may find some resemblance to asian taste. I took the plunge to see how I like this mix of asian/​middle eastern/​greek.
I have to say I like it a lot! I had the Islender Kebab and I kind of got addicted to tomato sauce over pita combo. I had to come back. I then felt I needed more veggies so I went with the vegetarian plate. Oh can be hummus and babaganus be so good? My friend who came with me this time tried some Dolmas. I stole a piece after she was saying she never had Dolmas like this before. Usually I remember them to be drier but these were super moist. I was too full already by that time. My friend decided she wanted some dessert. The guy working there who had a cute accent told us that the Baklava were flown from Turkey! Oh god… can I have 5 please?

I couldn’t stop eating! It’s ALL so very good! The baklava melts in your mouth, their tea doesn’t need sugar, they use ALL fresh, natural ingredients and are so very welcoming, I left requesting the owner keeps in touch… I only say that to my close friends and family. You don’t get this kind of service or quality food ANYWHERE!!! Don’t just think about going to Kebab Time, just do it! DO IT!!! Try their burgers or tacos with a one-​of-​a-​kind Mediterranean flair. Seriously, I went well out of my way to tell you all about this place. You’ve got to try it!!!

This place is awesome, food is fresh and healthy. Service is fast and friendly and reasonably price meal. This is Turkish version of the Gyro. It was loaded fresh veggies. They also have the option to order it as a salad. I had the lamb/​beef which was very tasty, but there is also an option for chicken.

Delicious Doner kebab. It is better and better with each bite. Service is good and clean. Also Their meat is halal. So do yourself a favor and go there. Highly recommended.

Kebab Time feeds the need of college students to dabble in Ethnic food. And what I’ve seen is that anything with the word kebab in it flies in this neck of the woods. Specifically, UT students seem to have a thing for Greek– or Turkish– style grub.
Surprisingly, the beef and lamb and lamb afford diners the spice and funk desired in real gyro meat. The lamb adds a bit of gaminess, which isn’t common to American gyro nowadays. Most of the time, it is no different than fajita – whether it be grilled chicken and beef.
The sauces provided such as hot sauce but specifically the tzaziki, provided a fresh touch to a rather heavy meal.
As a whole, a meal here will run you a bit higher than expected for a food truck, but the well-​prepared ingredients come at a premium.

I’ve been there several times. I’ve tried the number 3. I like the one comes with rice. Fresh vegetables, delicious kebab and fast service. I recommend everyone who likes kebab.

I’ve been to this food truck many times. Prices are OK and the food is great. I am a Turkish customer and I can say that this kebab is different than the ones you get in Turkey because it is much better and the portions are bigger. My favorite is #8.
I never had to wait more than 10 mins. The waiting time might be longer during the lunch time. I usually go in the evening.
There is one thing I can complain about and it is the fact that sometimes the truck is closed earlier than 10pm. I talked with manager and learned that they close early when they are out of supplies for that day.

Okay falafel. Bread not bad, but far from great. The falafel itself was dense and flavorful. That on its own would warrant a 3.
The test of the sandwich stuffs was a disappointment, though.
Vegetables were okay, but not nearly as plentiful as I’m used to. They were also drenched in sauce, which took away from their possible freshness.
Don’t even bother with the fries. Yes, they are nice and hot, but they are pretty bland fries, otherwise. I rarely use ketchup, but these had me tearing open the included ketchup packets.
I would have given it two stars, but the owner was nice, and the falafel itself wasn’t hideous.

Aaaaah a stock photo… so this is how they set our expectations: a doner kebab at the back, a handsome cook serving doner sandwich.
This is the reality: there is no doner kebab at the back, is it frozen? I don’t know. Cooks are middle aged, they are not dressed in white, and do not have red scarves.
But that is not all. It says doner on the truck, right? Well, they do not serve doner but gyro and it is more annoying than their stock photo (doner is turkish gyro is greek, doner is thin and crispy gyro is thick, doner is never ever served with that tzatziki sauce gyro is). It takes them forever to serve a single dish (We waited for almost 20 minutes). Doner is considered fast food in Turkey and you never wait longer than 10 mintes. Never.
Verts kebap is honest and has better doner, faster service and more honest owners. Skip Kebab Time, there are two Verts restaurants in the neighborhood.

I’ve been on a rampage recently using the Hooked deals app and saw this thing come up. It’s in a bustling food court area with some options (notably Gourdoughs right next door for dessert!). Prices are ok, perhaps a bit high for the college student but for a working guy, its about what I expect to pay at this point for a meal. Hooked deals make it a lot more manageable.
I got a #1 — spicy, but I honestly didn’t feel that much heat. The veggies are crisp and fresh and the bread grilled well. The meat was alright, not all that much of it, but enough to get explosive bites of flavor. One thing I notice is the beef/​lamb mixture isn’t as salty as other places I’ve been. The fries are pretty puffy, could be a bit crisper and a bit more quantity but they were alright.
Really nice staff. Could be faster on the food though.
So all in all, good place, not outstanding. Better places in town for similar food items, but for the price, location and hooked deal compatibility, they’re a-​ok.

Great service great food and it’s halal.

Go here. NOW. Been looking for an authentic Streets-​of-​Athens kebab place since visiting there a summer ago. I’ve finally found it! You may say «hey they serve fries! That’s not authentic!» Except it is. The blend of American fastfood and Mediterranean quick food found on the streets of big Mediterranean metropolitan areas is perfectly recreated here. And the servings are huge on the «plate» dishes — I filled up 2 pitas with the #7.
You’ve got your ranch, vinaigrette, tzatziki, hot sauce, every kebab sauce you could want all mixed simply but deliciously with cabbage, lettuce, tomato, onion, meat of your choice (I of course recommend beef/​lamb combo), and fries all to be wrapped in a perfectly heated pita.

This was pretty good. The kebab and the fries all came pretty fresh. Owner gives you tips as to what is good or not. Can get a combo for a drink and a side for 3 dollars more + the kebab which will probably round you to around 12 dollars, an average price I guess for a meal at a restaurant. I dunno if I’d come back, it’s more of a 7 out of 10 star quality for me (the fries I thought were just okay). but nonetheless this place will be on my radar for food knowing that they aren’t bad.

Ick. Just ick. Too much bread, too much sauce, not enough fresh lettuce & tomato and all around a regretful experience. I got the falafel, which was a terribly dense mixture that did not really work on the sandwich. I suppose you can choose what bread you want if they allow it, but the falafel is served in between two very large hunks of bread that look like they’ve been pressed by a panini press. Maybe this is the traditional doner style kebab… maybe it’s not. Either way, it’s not good. The apparently slightly better chicken wrap looked like deli slices of turkey that had been cut into small strips. Hmm. So, if you’re in the area and you’re jonesin for a kebab, please do yourself a favor and go to Verts or Kismet Café. Then thank me later.

Clean and friendly service. The meat is not really doner, it tastes almost like Gyro. Bread is standard «torta» bun and not Turkish pide. Veggies inside were fresh and crisp.
