Specialties

I do sleep consultations for parents who need help getting their little ones to sleep better and longer during the day and night. I work with infants and children 6 weeks to 4 years old. I have various packages available for expectant parents and those already struggling with their child’s sleep. Check out my website for more details.

History

Established in 2010.

Prior to the birth of my three children I had been a licensed master’s level social worker specializing in clinical work with children and adolescents. I loved the therapeutic setting and found myself missing it after having kids but also not ready to return fully to that career. People had always asked me about my own children’s amazing sleep habits and I slowly started to help friends and then friends of friends. So many parents needed help and support so I officially launched the business in 2010 in order to meet the need for the Austin community.

I have since worked with over 400 families in and outside of Austin. I am the resident sleep expert for Austin’s chapter of Bump Club and Beyond and I am also one of the sleep experts featured on Austin Mom’s blog and Austin Born. I have won the Austin Birth Award for best sleep expert and I was chosen to be a featured alumni in Vanderbilt Magazine for my entrepreneurial business spirit and success.

If you are not an Austonian and are looking for an email consult from another town, save your money. Email consult not worth the money and it didn’t change habits in toddler we were hoping for. After the 2 week period most of what we originally needed help with is still occurring.

When we brought our newborn home from the hospital a month ago it quickly became clear that we needed to get our 18-​month old on a healthy sleep schedule. We searched online and got every answer under the sun. We just needed ONE person, the right person, to tell us how to do it! Katie was the answer. Within 2 weeks she has our around-​the-​clock bottle-​loving little girl off bottles completely, on a proper wake/​feed/​sleep schedule which we’ve never had, and sleeping through the night. Sure, she still wakes up from time to time and there are some tears when she first gets in her crib but our little one is now able to soothe herself down and get herself back to sleep when she wakes up. We are so thankful for Katie and that Unilocal lead us to her!

Where do I begin? We made several mistakes with our oldest daughter, so when it came time to figure out a game plan for baby #2 we were very eager to work with Katie. Within the very first email I was honestly blown away with the amount of information she gave us. She made the information practical and made you view sleeping and schedules in a new light. I was referred to Katie by a friend and I will continue to refer her myself. We now have a 4 month old who sleeps through the night. Also, she encourages you to do things at your comfort level and always just an email away if you have a question.

Katie is a life changer. We were in that cat-​napping, raw-​nerves, pull your hair out stage around 3 – 4 months when I knew I needed to reach out beyond allllllllll those baby sleep books. Katie is well read but more than that, has great experience to pull from and her wisdom and perspective shows. She was a great sounding board for my hundreds of questions and by 5 months (knock on wood, cross your fingers, and pray) our little guy was taking regular naps and by 6 months sleeping from 7 to 7 at least 5 nights a week. I cannot recommend her enough.

As a second time mom, I thought I had sleep training down to a tee. When my 9 week old was waking up every hour on the hour, I could not function and knew I needed help. I contacted Katie and within 48 hours she came up with a detailed plan specific to my needs and my baby’s needs. With a lot of research and facts to back her method up, Katie changed our baby’s feeding schedule and sleep routine. She was there for me every step of the way to encourage me, tweak things that weren’t working, and troubleshoot after a bad night. Within a week, my baby had stopped waking every hour and we were both finally getting a long stretch of sleep at night. By the time I finished my 2 week consult with Katie, my baby was going to bed at 7:30pm, had a dream feed, and would sleep all night until 7:30am with two 2 hour naps during the day. I couldn’t believe I got such amazing results in two weeks. Not every day is perfect, but as long as we stick to the schedule that Katie provided us, our baby stays well rested and happy. I highly recommend Katie and her service. With her expertise in sleep training, I trusted and committed to her plan and our baby has thrived from it.

We reached out to Katie in a sleep-​deprived haze after our older baby had gone back to waking up a lot at night after an illness. We went from months of sleeping through the night and ok naps, to up twice a night and having a difficult time during the day with naps even after our baby got well. Everyone was exhausted. With Katie’s help during a week of email consultations, including a new schedule Katie recommended, we were able to help our baby sleep 11 – 12 hours a night, with successful naps twice a day. It’s always a work in progress, but we made excellent strides with Katie — particularly getting back to full nights of sleep, which is priceless, and our daughter putting herself back to sleep (or hanging out in her crib) during the end of naps. I recommend her services, as we are now a well-​rested family.

We called on Katie for help very early after the birth of our first child. I was surprised by how anxious I was early on and one of the things I obsessed over was how I was going to teach my new little one how to sleep. I have had friends that have used Katie in the past so I called her immediately. I was initially pretty overwhelmed by the amount of information I received, but true to her word, she was available to me for constant emails and phone calls during the two weeks that she offered. Katie was patient and understanding and at the end of our two weeks, I felt so much more confident and in control of the situation. Our daughter is now almost 2 and a half and she is a solid and consistent napper and nighttime sleeper. I truly feel the gift of learning how to go to sleep on her own and get ample rest is one of the best gifts I could have given her. Sleep is the only constant in this roller coaster ride of parenting and I am so thankful that my daughter’s sleep is never a source of stress! Thanks, Katie!
