Kangos Pediatrics

I still adore Linda. My son has been seeing her since he was 5 days old and she treats him like a little prince. I genuinely believe she likes my son. So cheers for her…
BUT i finally had the worst experience ever with that secretary. She was SO RUDE to me just now that I *almost* want to go else where. I actually stopped and asked her if she realized how rude she was being to me. She made a «ugh» noise so I told her what she was doing and how it was making me feel. To be fair she changed her attitude pretty quick. So maybe let her know when she’s being inappropriate and she’ll get the message and change? *fingers crossed*
(some other Unilocalers think that maybe because they’re «nice people» that they haven’t had to deal with the rudeness. Well, FYI after 3.75 years of going to Kangos Pediatrics this is the first time she has been rude to me. In the past i’ve only seen her be rude in person to other parents. It’s not you, little Unilocaler. It’s her.)

Linda and Peter Kangos are great! They are pro breastfeeding, which was really important to me. Unfortunately, their receptionist Cynthia is horrendous. She is rude, unprofessional, and should not be interacting with patients or parents. She is immature, and her conduct is unwarranted. I thought it was just me, but after reading some of the reviews I see she has a history of the same type of negative attitude I’ve experienced. I will be locating a new pediatrician, and we will not be back. Her behavior was unacceptable, and regardless to how much I like Linda and Peter, I will not be treated that way, especially in front of my children. I saw someone use the term «ghetto» to describe Cynthia… lol they are correct. She belongs on a corner at a street fight, not behind a desk at a doctor’s office. That woman needs a therapist, prayer, and Jesus! She’s got some serious problems to treat people like crap, when they’ve done nothing to you.

I’ve always been treated nicely here. Might help that I am always nice back with them and always ask for exactly what I need. I am a foster mom in addition to my two kids so I always have a ton of kids with me. They are very helpful with getting all the medical issues and prescriptions taken care of right away and fitting the kids in for spur of the moment checks as requested by the court system. Also, when I call about every other week for a sick child, they fit me in same day.
I read some comments about the receptionist Cynthia here and wanted to put in my two cents as well. She always accommodates my schedule, listens to what I need with all my paperwork needs, and without questioning gets me prescriptions and updated paperwork forms as needed. She files everything I ask her and she never complains. She also follows up with me. I think some of the comments here are regards to personality differences. Not everyone is an overly bubbly person and sometimes I don’t want that or need that when I’m at the doctor. All the staff is pleasant and listens to me and never makes me feel out of place for my questions. Doctor Kangos is a reserved man, but takes me seriously and doesn’t waste my time which I appreciate. He allows parents to have input in what they would like but is willing to speak his opinion when it is important and doesn’t jump to prescribe antibiotics if not warranted. Linda is super sweet and always helpful as well and so is the other nurse practitioner Taskina.
Overall, I chose Kangos Pediatrics because they take my insurance and not all doctors do and they are close to the house. However I stay with them because they know me and take care of my kids very well.

We’re a breastfeeding, vaccine delayed, birthing center, crunchy kinda family, and we’ve loved Dr. Kangos and his crew. His bedside manner can be a little dry sometimes but he’s never judged us for our decisions and rarely pushes his opinions on us. We’ve never had an issue with the front desk before, maybe we’ve been lucky or maybe we’re just nice people. Either way, we’ve had nothing but great experiences with them.

I’m an adult but went to this doctor as a kid and did not like it. He was not a good listener.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE… I’ve been coming here for 5 years now. When I moved here I didn’t know where to go and they are right down the street from me so I said what the hell I’ll give them a try. It was fine, my son was one and I didn’t have to bring him by much so I stayed. I had my 2^nd baby boy 10 months ago and I’ve been coming to them and man man man I wish I didn’t. Can you say rude… bad customer service, always in the bad mood with attitude. I’ve had her hang up the phone on me and scream at me and blaming me when clearly it was their fault. WHY YOU ASK… My baby boy got an allergic reaction to the medication they prescribed him and had red rash all over his body. It was on a Friday late afternoon when the rash started to get worse. Insteed of going in to the ER my husband called the after hour number that they charge you $ 20 for (I’m okay with that if we had any help at all from them) anyways the lady he spoke to on the phone made an appointment for the following day. We had to tell her that they close on Saturdays and the nurse on the phone said no they are open and made the appointment. I got there about 10 minutes early for my appointment and to my surprise they were closed. (We end up at the ER…3xs) The rude, nasty, no class receptionist calls me on Monday telling me that I didn’t show up for my appointment I had that day and I had to pay for no show. I told her what happened and the devil child came out and start screaming at me telling me that I had it wrong and that it wasn’t their fault that they don’t have anything to do with the after hour service. (Then why in the hell do you guys offer the after hour service?) I told her they need to contact them and give them the right information, then what does this rude lady do? She hangs up the phone on me. (Who the hell does that to their client? Stupid, no class person, that’s who)…One time they called me when I was pulling up to my appointment, getting my kids out of the car to let me know that they didn’t have the shots my baby will need that day (so now I’m behind on them, thanks) what business calls their customers 5 minutes before their appointment to tell them that, you’re telling me you didn’t know that the day before. (We should have the right to charge them a no show fee, don’t you think? Hahahah) About a week ago my son got straps and I toke him in and he was scared to open his mouth so the nurse (I guess she’s that) had to get a sample of his saliva and you should have seen her face when she had had it, like someone kicked her or something… THEY REALLY NEED TO TAKE CORSE ON HOW TO WORK WITH KIDS. Today I had an appointment for the baby to catch him up on his shots and was about to leave the house and noticed I had a missed call so I called them back and AGAIN with an attitude, she told me that I was late for my 9am appointment and I said I had it down for 9:30 (okay totally my falt… but do you have to be a BIT°H) IF YOU WANT TO FEEL LIKE $ SIGN EVERY TIME YOU WALK IN THERE AND NOT GET ANY RESPECT OR EVERY TIME YOU CALL YOU GET TO TALK TO THE BIT FROM HELL THEN BRING YOUR KIDS HERE. IF YOU HAVE ANY LOVE AND RESPECT FOR YOUR LOVE ONE THEN STAY AWAY! I’m okay with giving them a 1 because one of the nurse that takes care of us most of the time we go there is awesome… I give her 5 s but 0 for the front desk. Dear Mr. And Mrs. Kangos if you want to stay in business, do a house clean and start with your receptionist and make sure everyone understand what good customers service is. Now I’m here looking for a new doctor for my boys and don’t care if I have to drive an hour for my appointment as long as I don’t have to put up with all these bullsh°t.

Terrible costumer service. It happened like this: I needed a new doctor for my 6 year old. I ended at Kangos because I work at a HHSD office and saw several clients put their name in the forms. So I get there, ten minutes before my appointment, turn in all the paper work I have printed as advised as a new patient. The receptionist, Cynthia, is on the blue tooth thingy talking very loud to a client I guess, and hands me a bunch of papers without telling me what they are or where to sign, while speaking loudly, to the point that I was not sure if she was talking to me or the telephone client. I kind of shyly ask what to do with the papers, when she snaps, yes she snapped and rudely told me and I quote:” Ma, am, I’m on the phone!”. Oh my goodness, I have no idea why I even stayed! Mind you, dear reader, this was MY FIRST time there. My daughter asked if she just yelled at me. Then the nurse was not kid friendly, she rather scared my child, who loves going to the doctor! She was so looking forward to that appointment. It was a mess, then to find out we get to see the nurse practitioner, instead of the actual doctor. Seriously? That is okay, we are not going back. And I will most definitively NOT let my clients chose this place when they ask for referrals. Ghetto receptionist, unprofessional, and rude whom with her attitude belittles people. Didn’t do it to me, but I can explain now why my clients that go there are so insecure and sad mothers. At the end, my daughter asked politely for a token and she pretty much threw it on the counter, while still on the phone.. Please shred my records, we are not coming back nor will I ever recommend it to my clients.

Pass on this loon. He is just paying his golf dues & could care less about my boys’ health. Only went there a handful of times, but Dr Kangos kept getting my 8 yr old (85 lb) and my 16 yr old (6’5″, 225lb) dosage on ADD prescriptions mixed up… minor overdose! Wasn’t just a single incident either… several…
I tried to be respectful on asking for correct prescriptions, but Dr Kangos would get offended & dismiss his own mistakes?!
Not even an apology.
He needs to retire. Drs like this don’t need to be practicing.
Keep your child alive. Go to the next Pediatrician on your insurance list.

Dr. Peter Kangos was quick and efficient, He seems like if u want to ask him questions he’s there for you, or if you know what your are needing for your child he will make it quick. I just needed to get my sons ADHD meds redone from moving to Austin from Houston. He asked questions to make sure he needed them first then noticed his scalp and made sure the ring worm he had a few months ago was gone and not coming back, with out me even having to ask, Also gave a quick physical and gave me a prescript for the mg I needed for my son and I was gone. The staff very nice especially nurse and front desk gives children tokens for prizes in there machines. My sons 1^st token didn’t work so they told him its OK and gave him 2 more and told him try the other machines with a big smile. My first visit was good.

We love this office! It Is a small family owned practice that takes the time to know their patients. Whenever our son is sick, or if we are concerned of something, they get us in that day no problem. They also have Saturday appointments. If you call and leave a message for the nurse, either Dr. Kangos, or his wife Linda a nurse practitioner, will personally return your phone call that day. We love the personalized feel and appreciate the time they take to help us first time parents ease our fears. They are wonderful in all aspects.

I absolutely love the office staff and nurses. We also love Linda, but Dr. Kangos is a bit short at visits. He seems to not be interested in hearing too much from us new parents. Linda however really listened to our concerns and suggested routes of treatment that worked for our new baby. Thank god for her. The nurses have always been very friendly and setting an appointment has always been quick. I overall really like Kangos Pediatrics.

After moving here from Boston, I needed a Pediatrician for my almost 18 month old son. We chose Dr. Kangos and his practice for its size (its a small operation, in which I thought I would receive specialized care/​attention for our son) and for its location.
Two weeks before my sons 18 month visit, he had a stomach bug. I called the office and was seen the very same day. Once we arrived, I was asked to fill out 4 sheets of paper, present my insurance card and pay the co-​pay. All very standard practices. We then went on to wait 20 minutes in the waiting room until a nurse called us in (by the way– the receptionists are the nurses).She took his weight, and documented the reason for the visit. She told me the Doctor would be right in… we went on to wait for 30 more minutes. When Doctor Kangos came in he was pleasant with my child while asking me questions about my child and why I had brought him in. He prescribed my son a digestive pill and told me to increase his fat intake until he stopped having diarrhea and vomiting. We did and 5 days later it stopped. In all honesty I dont know that the medicine did anything.
fast forward two weeks– our appointment was at 9:45 am. We arrive 9:38 (they make you sign in and tell you the exact time as you are doing so) I was again asked to present my insurance, and fill out paperwork. Before filling anything out I told them that he had been seen 2 weeks prior and that we they should already have a file on him. She looked a little puzzled but without much effort was able to find his file. I handed her a copy of my child’s medical records and asked if she would make a copy. She did. No problems there. She handed me my files and we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited and then… we waited! I thought that because my first visit here was a sick visit that the 35+ we waited was usual because they had to «fit me in». Once the nurse/​receptionist called me in, I took note of the time– 10:07. She asked us to follow her, showed me the room and left! About 5 minutes later, she was walking by and said «I need him down to a clean diaper» and kept walking on by. I immediately did so. She walked by a few more times and eventually stopped in. it was now 10:15. She took weight and height and said that Dr. Kangos would be right in.
10:29 Dr. Kangos comes in and after about 3 minutes in the room he was done! He asked if my son was «developing normally». I said, I believed so. then he asked what shots i «fell like giving him today.» I told him that he ahd been on schedule and caught up to his 15 month shots and that we were comfortable giving him his next set of shots. He looked at the shot records and said «well, lets just give him his flu shot.» and that was it! He left the nurse came in, gave him a shot and told me to meet her out front.
Overall, I think my irritation is that as a first time patient to his office, there was very little patient discovery. He didnt ask any questions, he didnt ask if I had questions. Other than asking for my permission to call our previous pediatricians because «they have nice charts.» there was no communication about his developement, what to look for in the future etc. He just handed me a sheet with his stats and that was it.
Maybe, its because I have just come from an office where we waited 10 minutes max, and if the Doctors or nurses were going to be longer they or someone else came out and told us so. Maybe, its because our Nurse Practitioner had a set of specific questions for each well visit. Maybe, it is because she always walked in to the room, said hello to my husband or myself first and then walked up to our little boy and said «hello! How are you today» even when he was weeks old! Just maybe, I have been spoiled with truly great care for our child that I am so irritated at this office. I am actually HAPPY that they could not schedule my sons 2 years appointment. I am now going to call our office back home and see if there were additional shots my son should have received and double check if there was anything else that this office missed.
You see, when you have a child– you want the best for them. And although they didn’t do anything wrong, they just didn’t do enough. They did the minimum, and for your kids– thats not good enough.
We will be looking for a different pediatrician.

With my first daughter I picked Kangos Pediatrics in part because they are willing to do a spread out vaccination schedule… I took her to this Drs until she was 9 months old.
My biggest beef was with the receptionist/​nurse. She was always rude, and I felt too rough with my daughter. For example, my daughter needed a heel prick blood draw and she squeezed her leg so hard my daughter was screaming. When I said I thought she was too rough she said my daughter was screaming just because babies didn’t like their feet touched. This is the kid that ASKS for more shots and doesn’t cry about them at all.
I ended up not being very impressed with either the Dr or his wife (a CNP). He was often dismissive of my concerns and he would bill a sick visit if I asked pretty much any question during a well visit. He told me my daughter wasn’t gaining enough weight because I wasn’t making enough milk so I needed to give her formula, with no questions and no suggestion to see a lactation consultant (long story but that wasn’t the problem at all). He responded to a few of my concerns with «home remedy» type treatment when it needed an actual treatment (bad facial eczema that was infected I was told to use neosporin and vaseline on. Multiple times even when it didn’t work the first time)
The final straw was when I had an issue with billing, the receptionist/​nurse had a voice raising argument with me IN FRONT OF OTHER PATIENTS. No. I don’t let people yell at me and go back for more. Not receptionists at least.

I would just like to say after having experience in billing and in the medical field, that any time you go in for a wellness check and you talk about anything from ear infection to refulx, to a diaper rash, the provider has to document what was talked about and the insurance is the one billing you for anything out of the wellness benefit. check with your insurance and see for yourself.
