The last time I ate here, I predicted they would be closed within the end of this year. And now I just learned they closed down. I have never seen such deterioration of a place in such a small amount of time than I have with Kabab Food Corner. When they opened, the cook himself came out and talked to me in a language I don’t understand but could pick up certain words due to shared vocabulary stating he made every dish after you ordered so it’s always fresh but that’s why there’s a short wait time. I understood and appreciated that. The man at the counter would greet you and ask how was your day and followed proper phone etiquette when called and was generally very pleasant. These things are unheard off in small hole in the wall establishments by people of the Indian subcontinent unfortunately. Somewhere down the line, the food stopped being fresh and started being iffy. and they also increased prices and drastically lowered portions. But the worst was customer service, that friendly guy was replaced by this girl who just gave off attitude. I have mean things to say about her but it’s not worth it. Lets just say other people I know who went here felt the same way. The food was legit, especially the pakistani dishes… haleem, paratha rolls, chicken karahi, and especially the nehari. Man, that was spectacular but these guys did not know how to run a business. So down goes Kabab Food Corner! Good luck to whoever comes next.

Great food! Got a couple of potato samosas, which were soft flavorful, and large. 2.99 for two huge samosas, pretty good deal in my opinion. I got the CHAPLIKABABPRATHAROLL and the lady got butter chicken. Both entrees were good. My wrap was fun large and good veggies b The halal meat was the star of the show, that beef was like butter goodness in my mouth. The butter chicken was greasy in a great way and the chicken perfectly cooked. Didn’t come with rice which was interesting but there was a lot of food. The lady also ordered naan which was yum supposedly. Great food. Will come again.

Our party arrived around 6pm on a Sunday and it was fairly empty. The food was fantastic and the people friendly enough though the service was a bit DIY by American standards. We ordered the following: ALUTIKKI: pretty good starchy fried patty served with side of ketchup KEEMAPARATHA: flatbread filled with spiced minced meat. fantastic flavors CHICKENBIRYANI: well flavored and aromatic with tons of spices. The chicken was bone-in but fall-off-the-bone juicy and tender. ZEERARICE: Some white rice with cumin seeds to go with some other items we ordered ROTI: Not a bad example but not the star of the meal NAAN: Pretty standard naan PARATHA: This was the table’s favorite bread SEEKHKABAB — BEEF: «stick» of meat served on bed of lettuce tomato and cucumber. great flavors CHAPLIKABAB –BEEF: patty of meat served on bed of lettuce tomato and cucumber. great flavors and our group more or less agreed this was the best meat of the evening. CHICKENTIKKAMASALA: I’ve tried this dish at a lot of restaurants and this was the spiciest one I have ever gotten from a restaurant that doesn’t ask you how spicy you want it. Overall good flavors though the chicken itself was a little dry. The Good: — Food was served piping hot and was very fresh and delicious. — Staff who I presume are the owner-operator family were friendly despite not having full command of english. The Bad: — Some of the silverware was crusted with dried flecks of food. I had to fish around for clean ones. There is something about this type of food that makes it prone to sticking fiercely to silverware. I’m not excusing it but it DOES seem to happen a lot even at seemingly upscale indo-pakistani type restaurants(I’m looking at you Clay Pit). Nobody got sick so I’m letting this one slide with just one docked star. — Service was a bit lacking. Server brought pitchers of water occasionally but never once filled them for us. We had to grab our own silverware and napkins from a pile. — Food took a long time to come out though it was super apparent that most of it was made rather freshly and it was served piping hot. I’d come here again if I was in the area.

While the place may look closed(I had to call to make sure they were open) it’s worth the drive if you are in search of some good Indian/Pakistani food that are served in big portions. Our table got the chicken tikka masala, a couple pratha rolls, tons of naan(it’s only $.99) and some mixed rice dish. While we kinda just ordered with our stomachs all the food tasted great and were served in large portions. The naan was fresh and complimented all the dishes well. The only bad part about my visit was that i found out they had a buffet after 8pm on week days… i would have totally waited until after 8pm to eat because they buffet was $ 8.99 which is a great value! Overall, its a great whole in the wall place that is a great value and serves some delicious food. My next order will definitely be chicken masala with rice and naan and i’ll feel great doing it. :)

Was great when it opened… seems to be rapidly deteriorating food and interior. We went again after a gap of a few months. The interior smelled bad — like a refrigerator gone bad. That should have been our ‘run away’ signal. The goat Korma(slowly cooked goat) was of questionable quality. The goat was smelly — we could not eat it. They also need to work on keeping their AC on. The service is ok and the breads were really good. Maybe I caught them on a bad night, but I am not risking eating there again.

Can’t tell how heathy the food is, but the taste is as authentic as it gets. The taste reminds me of home. Hope they stay in business unlike others at the same location in the past.

If the service and quality of food does not get better-this place will soon close down! Ordered nihari and it was a day old. No condiments available with nihari… so better bring your own hara dhaniya, podina, onion and lemons if you like to eat with the 1 day old nihari. Service is not good. Most of the times no one is on the counter and you try to look for them in the kitchen. Make sure to ask them when the food was cooked and if its fresh!

The best kabab I’ve ever had! I came in to try their goat korma, but decided to add a kabab since it is after all, Kabab Food Corner. This place has atmosphere for a strip mall corner on North Lamar and somehow seems better suited to kebabs than Voss Fish & Grill was to the location. As for the goat korma, it was flavorful and tender but incredibly oily. I like fat, fat is brain food, not as much when it coats my entire mouth at every bite. The chicken tikka masala was incredibly off for me and my dining companion, it really tasted of italian herbs! We asked the waiter about the tomatoes and he was very lighthearted about it, he talked to the cook who assured us no Italian ingredients were used, but he was still nice enough to take it off the check without us asking. Everything else was amazing though, and the customer service was above and beyond. The kabab was super flavorful, had an amazing crust, but was still moist on the inside. I will order this again and again. The alu tikki was really enjoyable, perfectly cooked potatoes, well spiced, nicely pan fried, and herbaceous. The fish nuggets were a touch over fried, but pretty traditional and tasty. The paratha and naan are incomparable, made in house! I usually skip these at most Indian places, but I would be sad to here. I was really charmed with Kabab Food Corner, and I really want to give the fried chicken a shot too, so I definitely must revisit! Do not miss out on the kababs!

Food was really horrible and service was pathetic. We ordered goat biriyani and literally had no meat in it. We also ordered goat karahi and it was very oily and it was not the authentic pakistani goat karahi. It was not spicy, whole dish was full of oil and there was a lot of yogurt in there which made the dish good for nothing. There is no actual staff on the restaurant and you will find 2 girls sitting at the desk on the phone and dont have any courtesy to come and ask if we need anything.. Be ready to go to where she is sitting and ask if you need anything including bills.

I came here with my husband on a Buisness trip and went out looking for good Pakistani cuisine. To our finding the food here was one of the best cooked food we have had since we have been in USA !! Great customer service too the only opportunity is with the naans could be better if cooked in tandoor not the oven . It’s clean and chef is very knowledgable. Must go

This place is home to some of the most legit Indian/Pakistani food I’ve ever encountered. Now, let me back way up and say that I’m not an expert in authenticity. I mean, I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job of making up for the lack of said ethnic food in my early years but I’m light years away from someone who has spent time in either country. That disclaimer disclaimed, holy spices and awesomeness. Close to half of the menu here was a complete mystery(just the way I like it.) I got the butter chicken(familiar) and then a Seekh Kebab & some Haleem Beef(no clue). When I got these bad boys home and opened them, my whole house smelled like deeeelicous food. They were so richly spiced(and somewhat spicy) that I had the special experience of trying to disguise my breath all night. #worthit This spot is about as authentic as it gets and they’ve got a buffet at lunch. I’d recommend taking a semi-expert to guide you through what you might like. I hear good things about the fish masala but was nervous about what that actually means. The things I would suggest to them are cosmetic. Since they’ve just opened, I’ll assume they’re planning this anyway: – Repaint the walls or at least patch up the spots that have peeled. – Clean up the hallway to the bathroom and the bathrooms. Dingy bathrooms always make me question the food. – If you’re making suggestions for newcomers on a white board, explain what those dishes are. Just having them written in half-smudged white board marker isn’t really a guide – Let take out customers know that their food is being cooked to order and that the wait may be 30+ minutes – Find a new sign that isn’t a vinyl banner. You’re pretty hard to find already. – Have some kind of music happening. When I was there, the restaurant was as quiet as a tomb. – Overall, making the place more accessible/friendly will definitely help the business. I was excited about having an adventure and even I looked around to make sure I wasn’t going to get shanked.

The buffet is $ 6.99 and worth every penny. Food is good and doesn’t sit out for long periods of town.

A very quiet, very inexpensive Pakistani spot that serves a variety of halal cuisine, but specializes in fish. I had the fish masala, and it was excellent — perfectly spiced, rich sauce, tender, flaky chunks of fish, on a large bed of very good rice. The owner said he will have a lunch buffet from 11 – 3 starting next week. I especially appreciate the lack of a blaring television. Will definitely be back.

I wasn’t impressed by the place but it was worth the shot. I had some chicken dish, flavorful but too greasy and hardly any meat on the drumsticks. By the time I got home, all of the to-go boxes were covered in oil. All sides are a la carte. I had the rice and chai tea, so my total was about $ 15. My overall experience was meh, no greeting upon entering and had to ask to be served twice so I decided to have my food to go. There were two other tables, a man by himself and a large family of 8 who perhaps were keeping the server very busy. There seemed to be two servers but only one that spoke English. The naan was probably the best part.

I’ve gone probably half a dozen times already. This is the first South Asian place to open in Austin that rivals the best places in Houston or Dallas. The Nihari is done perfectly, although the dish is a little small for the price. Both the Karahi chicken and Haleem are delightful. The biryani is very good, although I am not as familiar with Pakistani biryani as others. Overall, this place ups the ante not just for Pakistani food in Austin but for South Asian food on the whole. It’s a hidden gem and has quickly become one of my go-to places.

Man, north Lamar just keeps getting better and better for ethnic dining. This place is owned by a Pakistani family. They serve up 100% hand-cut Halal Pakistani/Indian food, delicious and cheap. They are in the old Voss Fish & Grill building buried in the heart of Little Mexico in the Family Dollar strip center, and, are closed on Tuesdays. If you are a buffet person, check them out for lunch on the weekday. I like the menu here. They group it by dish/plate. They offer plates of appetizers, breads, biryani’s, vegetables, kababs, kabab roll/wraps, chicken, goat, beef, fish, chef specials, and, off the menu with weekend specials. Lots of great selections to choose from, and, it’s cheap. Don’t expect to find lamb here, it ain’t happening. Everything is under ten bucks! The store is very clean, and, my waiter was really nice and friendly. Great service! I ordered the beef sheekh kabab pratha roll. My waiter was careful to warn me that it was spicy. I was like«sweet!». He smiled and left me alone with my phone and pitcher of water. That’s right, a whole pitcher! No need to worry about refills here! I’m so glad I got my roll with pratha instead of naan. Naan is delicious stuff, but, can sometimes be too much on a wrap. The pratha bread is thinner, a little more greasier and firmer(slight crisp). Perfect for a wrap. My beef seekh kabab roll was not what I was expecting. I was expecting the long strips of beef with veggies and yogurt. Instead it was filled with diced beef stir fried(mixed up) with tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, lettuce, and had yogurt and a green sauce(chanti?). Whatever was going on, I hit the seekh kabab pratha roll lottery! The flavors in my roll danced their spiciness all over my taste buds! Come here and check them out. They also cater. I can’t wait to go back and try their fried chicken! Their link: **NOMSG**

For all you Karachi people out there, the Nihari had the Burns road flavor! The Bihari kabab is pretty good too. I’m definitely going back for more.

I have a pretty high bar where Indian food is considered. I have been to India 3 times and there is nothing like Hyderabadi biryani. I have visited Kebab Food Corner twice and have been delighted both times. I ordered chicken biriyani and goat Karahi with paratha. The service is great and the food is stellar. I give it a 4 because I have only tried two things and it’s still not as good as food from Hyderabad.

We selected the server’s recommended dishes: Chicken Karahi, Fish Biryani and Alu Tikki. They were all outstanding. We found the food fresh and cooked to order. Tasty. And at quite reasonable prices. Yum. Thank you
