Meet the Business Owner

Jay S.

Business Owner

Jay D. Smith began practicing law in 2004, and has devoted his practice exclusively to family law.

Jay graduated summa cum laude from Oklahoma State in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. He attended Baylor University School of Law from 2002 — 2004. Baylor is known for its superior trial training program, which has been called the «Marine Corps of law schools» by the Princeton Review, and was recently ranked as one of the six best law schools for litigation practice by U.S. News and World Report.

Jay began his legal career in Dallas, Texas, working for a firm that specialized in commercial construction litigation. In 2005, Jay moved to the Austin area to work for Akins, Nowlin & Prewitt, LLP. In August of 2009, Jay opened the doors to his own practice.

As a family law attorney, Jay believes that resolving cases amicably and without the need for court intervention is always preferable, but with plenty of courtroom experience, Jay is well-equipped to take a case to trial.
