No, no, no, no. First, in this day and age, good customer service is very, very hard to come by. What is it with most people behind a counter nowadays? What do they benefit from being rude? The girl who checked me in was not friendly and did not smile at all. The guy who was in charge of getting glasses (eye technician, I think they are called) didn’t even refer to me as sir. He called me, «man.» Did I step into some stoner’s optometrist haven?
I’m the type of person that does not believe in giving my hard earned money to people who do not deserve it, so as soon as they began the exam, I walked out. I encourage everyone to do the same if you experience a similar encounter.
What is rather unfortunate is that I really need new glasses.

Live very close to this place so decided to get a normal eye glasses exam. I inquired online and included my insurance information, they were able to authenticate my insurance and had all of that ready before I came in.
Wait time wasn’t too long, Dr. Priyal Desai was great and made this this appointment super smooth. This was a good experience for what I needed, which was just an eye exam.
I wasn’t a fan of their eye glasses selections, and the receptionists just didn’t seem very professional, which I didn’t mind but some people might.

The office staff and Dr. Tekell are always really nice and professional. I’m always satisfied with the customer service, making appointments, seeing the doctor, trying on glasses, and ordering my contacts. They are very patient and really friendly.

I visited this office on two occasions and selected this Optometrist in large part because of these reviews. The purpose of my visit was to get a thorough eye exam and I’m pleased with level of care I received. If you’re looking for a local eye doctor I recommend this facility.

I’ve bought glasses from Melanie a couple of times, and each time was very impressed. She is professional, responsive, very knowledgeable about both glasses and insurance, a good listener, didn’t rush me, and both times she watched out for my interests. The store’s pricing was also very reasonable.

So now I’ve seen Dr. Dee Tekell two years in a row here. She is fantastic! That woman LOVES eyes. You can see her passion for optometry in her eyes. She is very warm, competent, and thorough. She can make you understand everything going on with your eyes in a very easy to understand way without being condescending. Plus she addresses my dry eyes with some very low cost and practical solutions. Ample samples of trial contacts is really going to help, too. They will give you a AAA discount! The fantastic optometric assistant at the desk thought to ask me if I had AAA.
The glasses I got a few years ago, although they look awesome, turned out to not work for me. I had them adjusted umpteen times and they just don’t work. It’s unfortunate but maybe I have a weird head.

I thought the staff at Innovative Eyecare were all very professional. I had an eye exam and a contact fitting, and found the exam to be very thorough and the equipement seemed to be state of the art. Dr. Tekell was competent, knowledgeable, and patient while I tried about 8 different combinations of prescription strengths and contact lense types to find a comfortable balance between near and far vision correction. I did not look at frames there, so I have nothing to add about their frames.

In order of experience. Terrible frame selection, decided to just do something anyway because my existing lenses were in bad shape and I needed to get something done at least to hold me over till I had more time to get to a shop with more selection.
Everything seemed to go well but then the glasses produced didn’t work, the lens axis was too far off, they tried two more times to get that right but the glasses just would not work. I suspected the prescription was wrong and requested a new one, this one was different but the doc was a little snarky about it. After getting the new lenses again, once again the axis was off. I requested and received a refund on the frames and lenses only.
After this I took even more time off work to go to a different shop who produced a completely different prescription, ordered new frames and lenses and they WORKED ON THE FIRST TRY as is normal. I was actually starting to think there was something wrong with my eyes since I’ve never had this much trouble before but no it was just a bad shop.
I do commend them five stars on a proper fitting which most shops can’t do these days but other than that it was a disaster and a hugely expensive waste of my time. Estimated cost of time lost for me is $ 2,000 over four visits there. What a waste. Stay Away. I’ve never experienced anything like this in a lifetime of wearing glasses.

The frames are a great selection and the lady that helped us with those was wonderful.
Dr. Collins is a horrible excuse for a optometrist. To announce things about my appointment to all who were in the lobby? Absolutely rude and disgraceful.

First of all, this is not a review of the Optometrists at this office, just a heads up on our experience trying to get glasses. We have a prescription from our Optometrist and came to this place to get our glasses since they are supposed to be in-​network for my insurance. We arrived at 5:30 pm and both opticians were busy with customers. We looked around at frames and finally sat down to wait. Both opticians never greeted us or say anything about they will help us once they are finished. In fact, both ladies avoided eye contact with us and one lady walked by my wife mulitple time without looking at her or say anything. I understand they close at 6 and probably will not have time to get our order, but this lack of customer service was very annoying. We finally gave up and walked out just before 6 pm, and no one every said anything to us. They will NOT get our business!

I have used Innovative Eyecare now for over a year and am very happy with the Service they provide. Their staff is Professional, happy, and very helpful. They take BCBS, which was a plus and saves me money. Dr. Tekell is awesome, knowledgable and very attractive (hehehe). The only thing negative is that their frames and contacts are a bit more expensive than ordering online. However, I will return again and recommend to others.

Great customer service, knowledgeable doctors, great frame selection!

I took my father here for an eye exam about a year ago and I also bought a pair of glasses here. It was pleasant experience.
Doctors: 5 Star
Doctor was very professional and thorough in their exam.
Optician: 5 Star
Optician lady was very patient and helped both of us pick out a pair glasses. She was very helpful. Not too pushy and didn’t try to up sell.
Front desk and tech: 4 Stars
Were average. No complaints but no compliments
Overall 5 star since most important factors is getting a good exam with good glasses. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a good exam.
I live up north so I don’t know if I will go back but i would recommend this place for anyone who live in south austin.

If you live in Southwest Austin, this is a very convenient place to shop for eyeglass frames. They had quite a good selection of mens sunglass frames for sport and outdoor activity. The lady who serviced me was pleasant and efficient. She quickly checked my insurance coverage, told me what was covered, what was not. Walked me through the different options available for ordering. A week later I got a call to pick up the frames and lenses– no problem at all!

Horrors!!! I scratched both lenses right through the middle of my glasses by dropping them on a stone floor. I have been a client of Innovative Eyecare for quite a long time, but the service was above and beyond what I expected. I received courteous, prompt service and the lenses were replaced while I waited!!! Wow!!! Customer for life…

As a Medical Assistant, I am Very picky when it comes to choosing any type of doctor.
I went to Innovative Eyecare this past Saturday, due to recommendations of a coworker. It was super easy to make an appt and they had availability the same week.
I saw Dr. Tekell who I believe is new to the practice, and she was extremely helpful and really took her time and made sure to explain things throroughly, she really puts you at ease and makes you feel comfortable.
I Love that you can see the images of your eye and optic nerve, etc!
The Dr gave me a free pair of trial contact lenses and told me to try them out for a week and see how they felt since it was a different brand than usual and she hoped they’d be more comfortable and cost effective than my current ones. I really like that she showed me the diff b/​n my old Rx and new one.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE their frame selection! Like a kid in a candy shop! Coach, Kate Spade, Ray Ban, soooo many more to choose from!!! And I did not think the prices were very expensive, besides the Opticians are very helpful and considerate of your budget.
the BEST part of all is how soon you can get your glasses! Most ppl with lower Rx than mine can have them same day but since I have practically coke bottle lenses, I expected a full week and a half or more… *drumroll* One and a half business days! My jaw literally dropped when they called to let me know. You get a fancy cleaning kit free and everything.
I did talk to them about the problems I had been having with the trial contacts and they were very attentive and even gave me advice, and another pair of trials without any hesitation/​sigh/​eyerolling or any type of body language that shows you may be an imposition as can happen in some Dr offices.
I have been telling ALL of my friends & family about this place and I’m so happy as their patient. Highly recommend! Wonderful service, beautiful location, clean and state of the art equipment, excellent staff.

Forget your run of the mill optometry shop! Do yourself a favor and check this place out instead. All the equipment looks like it came from NASA. The staff was knowledgeable and nice. I had my appointment with Dr. McQueen. He was probably the best optometrist I’ve dealt with before. He seems like he really likes what he’s doing and I was very pleased with my interaction with him. A+, will be going back here the next time around.

Been going to these guys for a couple years now and have no complaints. I’m real picky with contact lenses, and they’re great about handing out samples. Wouldn’t go anywhere else in SW Austin.

I had a great experience. I like my old eye doctor fine, no real complaints but I bought a Groupon for the eye exam and contacts. It was a good deal and I was down to my last set of disposables.
This place is twice as nice as my regular eye doc. I had a wait time but it wasn’t anything outrageous (maybe fifteen minutes) and they have an iPad to play with while you wait. The front office staff seemed friendly and knew what was going on. The lab tech was personable and professional. I read a review that said some of the machines weren’t working, that wasn’t my experience. All the machines worked fine. They actually did a few more test that my regular doc never performed. It was a little weird seeing my eyeball on a big screen and the doc pointed out a couple of freckles on my cornea. She told me to start wearing UV sunglasses because you can freckle on your eyeballs too. Great. The doc walked me through all of my results and answered all my questions.
I have terrible vision and a stigmatism. Yep, I’m a nerd. The doc ordered a pair of a new brand of contacts since my they stopped making my old brand. She wanted to make sure the new contacts were going to work and she was going to keep trying till I was happy. No charge for the trial pair and the second visit to see if they fit right. I thought that was awesome.
My only complaint is that they’re way off of William Cannon and Mopac. I’m a typical Austinite and don’t like to drive more than 15 minutes to get anywhere. Even though they’re the opposite side of town, they’re my new eye doctor.

Dr. McQueen and his group used to be a wonderful eye clinic to go to. Our whole family has been going there for years. They helped my youngest daughter learn how to put her new contacts in and get over the fear of that process. They’ve worked with each one of us to get our eyes examined, get fitted for glasses and contacts, and overall eye care. I would say the docs at Innovative Eyecare are good. Dr. Pak is especially nice and helpful.
BUT! Beware of the office staff! They are grumpy, they treat you like you’re a bother, they don’t smile at all, and they barely speak to you. Someone called while I was at the desk and asked if they took Medicare. The staff person said very bruskly’ «No we don’t.» and hung up on the person. That was all she said to the caller. I myself had called earlier to followup on a matter they were checking into for me, and the staff person was very unfriendly in the phone. I told her how much I appreciated her help, and she just grunted…
Another staff person hung up after another call about Medicare and said (with me Standing right there), «Gee, don’t you get it? We don’t take Medicare!». They clearly have no desire to take care of their customers and would rather not have to be working in that job.
It’s a shame to see that Dr. McQueen’s Innovative Eyecare has lost their vision for good customer service.
