Hyde Park Wellness Clinic

This quaint little spot is in my neighborhood so when I saw a Living Social deal for $ 39 for an acupuncture session, I decided to check it out. The location is in a small house that has been set up as a clinic. Parking is in the back. This review will be about the process, the therapist and the location. There is plenty out there on acupuncture in general.
I was greeted warmly by Tama and offered a drink. Once I was done with the typical first timer paperwork I was ushered unto one of the patient rooms. Very clean and welcoming surroundings. Nothing fancy or pretentious, just simple and comfortable. After a few more in depth health questions and specifics about what I needed relief with, she set me up on the table and inserted some needles while facing up for over all wellness and relaxation. That session lasted about 30 minutes. Then I flipped over and she inserted needles in the problem area around my neck and followed that with some suction cup therapy that wasn’t painful or awkward like it can be if not done correctly. The problem area needles were also left for about 30 minutes. The «quiet» time sessions while the needles did their work were accompanied by soothing music that she put on after asking me first. That is appreciated since not everyone relaxes with music.
Overall, a smooth, relaxing experience by a professional and patient person. She has a great demeanor for this type of therapy. I did not get much else from her besides the acupuncture because I am very familiar with it, she did seem very willing to offer advice and seemed knowledgeable about how to treat your body better overall. I am writing this within a couple of hours of my treatment and feel tons better already.

Tama keeps our family healthy and happy. She takes a whole approach to what my ail you, and is right on target.

I’ve seen Tama for a number of things– allergies/​sinus issues, fatigue, an old sports injury, and stress. I have seen other acupuncturists and what I really appreciate about Tama is how thorough she is, and how extensive her treatment repertoire is — acupuncture, Chinese medicine, massage, etc. The treatments helped for both immediate relief and for longer term results (congestion cleared up, sleep improvement, less stress, decreased pain, etc). Tama has been very responsive in terms of returning calls and scheduling appointments that work for my crazy schedule (sometimes a lost art these days), and really takes pride in the care she provides. Her technique is top notch compared to others that I have seen (i.e. the needle placement doesn’t hurt), she is professional, and makes you feel at ease. The office is nice too– ample parking, great location, relaxing and private treatment rooms, etc. I have recommended Hyde Park Wellness to a number of friends, colleagues, and family members and they have all been happy with the results.

I am a runner so the first time I saw Tama was for some acupuncture on my very tight IT Band. She put those little needles in various locations and hooked me up to some electrical currents to loosen up that muscle, which feels very cool, and after a couple of sessions it felt so much better. Tama is also very knowledgeable about nutrition and supplements so she is now my go to person for my protein powder, vitamins and general health and wellness supplements. Tama is so easy to talk to about your needs and her clinic is very inviting and comfortable. I would so recommend her to anyone.

Man! What a great way to take a 30 minute nap in the middle of a crazy work day! Tama treated me for stress, and I’m so glad she did. She provided me with an informative 15 minute counseling session before she started gently pricking me with her magic needles. Once she had the needles in place, it was nap time.
