Hyatt Place Austin – North Central

I am still currently here at the location off of i35. First off friendly staff! I was able to get checked in and a small tour of the hotel. They mostly always say hi or have a good day when you leave for the day. Very personable.
The hotel is clean, I have seen them steam clean carpets, change my bedding and get clean towels and I had a clean bathroom.
It is in a questionable neighborhood. Because I always see crack headed people ask for money all over your car at the stop light. But that isn’t the hotels fault. My car was safe here but I didn’t leave anything in it.
The only issue I encountered was one single bed bug. I caught it and notified the staff. They were very diligent in moving me to another room. I of course was completely freaked out and started checking google like crazy on how to spot one. So I checked the new room and asked staff to check new room for me because I was scared. The next day I received a phone call from management. I met with her and she apologized and have offered to rectify the situation. I greatly appreciated that because I was a nervous wreck. She had pest control come out and inspect the old room I was in and the new room and started treating the issue. This does no way make the hotel dirty. Stuff happens, sometimes depending on where people come from bed bugs happen, but I do appreciate how they owned up to it and tried to correct the issue immediately. That to me is great customer service even though there was a bed bug. I only saw one. That was the only horrible experience I have encountered here. They changed my room and then I didn’t have any more issues.
I don’t know their pest control policy on how often every room is checked for bed bugs or just bugs in general but, Jennifer the manager, did everything she could to help fix the situation
As for that I will be back again at this location when I come back over the next few months and hope that I don’t see any more, because I like this hotel.
The breakfast is great and they have a Starbucks and happy hour here!
Overall besides the bed bug issue it is a nice hotel.

Very clean hotel and friendly hotel staff. Rooms were very nice and clean. Free complimentary breakfast served every morning. Free parking for hotel guests. Convenient location off the freeway and only 6 – 8 miles from downtown 6^th street.

Hotel was fairly clean and location was great. Staff were fairly nice. Nothing impressive about this place.

This location is the bomb! The staff is so friendly and professional. Rooms are squeaky clean. Haven’t gotten to breakfast yet so I will update in the AM!

We stayed here because the other Hyatt Place was booked for the weekend. Generally we love Hyatt Place, however, this hotel was the unfortunate exception.
On the day we were to check out, a hotel staff person walked into our room while we were dressing a good 2 hours before checkout time without knocking or announcing their self. This is never acceptable.
There was a cockroach in the bathroom of our room. The cleaning person just used a dry cloth on the bathroom sink and ended up smearing soap all across the counter top and apparently thought it was sufficiently clean. There is not enough seating for the continental breakfast area.
We also did not like the general layout of the room where the sink was outside of the bathroom. We have stayed at other Hyatt Place hotels where the layout is much better in the rooms and public areas.
We will not return to this location. When we checked out no one asked us how our stay was, but just took my key and gave me a receipt. Probably because they don’t care.

This hotel is a nice place to stay with family. It’s clean and spacious. Although the bed are just a double full size but the couch is very comfortable and big enough for me to sleep on. Refrigerator, coffee machine, hair dryer, iron, and a very cold air conditioner! Love it.
Swimming pool and fitness center, pretty fast WiFi, what else? No complaints only compliments. The staff are very kind and helpful too. We forgot to take a toothpaste, and when I ask for a closest store that I can go and get it, they just hand it to you as well as nail polish remover. Breakfast is OK. 5 minutes walk to the front, there are apple bee’s, buffalo wild wings, some cantina for booze drinker.
We can hear outside noises when the neighbors walk around and chat but only when you sit on the couch next to the door. Oh yeah and did I mention a cold air con? Superb. Will definitely come back and recommend this location for friends and family.

This place unfortunately sucks, no matter how hard management tries.
The bathroom is incredibly small and water never dries in the stall. The rooms have low ceilings and smell humid. Even after running the air conditioner all day.
The weight fitness room consists of four fitness machines and the room itself is not much bigger. No free weights.
The road outside is covered with homeless folks at every intersection hassling for money.
The good:
No visible bugs in room, seems clean.
Internet works but speed sucks
Breakfast ok, crowded but they opened up a second area for you to sit in. Fair variety of food.
I feel bad for management, not sure how they can fix the room and neighborhood issues.
For the price much better hotels elsewhere.

This is my second time at this hotel. The first time I was very impressed with the inside (not so much the outside just because it’s small and I’m a bit of a snob). This time I’m still impressed just not as much. Our room is clean, the staff is polite, and the location is convenient (right on 35). The free breakfast was great! Full out breakfast, eggs, waffles, toast, beagles, tacos, fruit, etc. Only complaints are that the mini fridge had ice frozen in it and quality of the room isn’t as high as it seemed it was the last time I was here (June 2013). Overall, I would stay here again if the price was right.

Everything about the Hyatt is wonderful! The décor is a notch up on the classy-​look scale and a lot nicer than most hotel chains. The breakfast is amazing for a hotel! I loved the layout of the breakfast, food choices and variety. I actually look forward to waking up when staying at the Hyatt. The rooms are beautiful and spotless, beds are very comfortable, sheets and comforters feel and smell nice, bathrooms are modern and hip. For the price, Hyatts are usually my go-​to hotels for business or play! I am one happy gal when staying at the Hyatt & so very disappointed if they have no rooms available on any given day and I have no choice but to stay somewhere else (Hilton or Marriott).

Let’s start off… when I complained to the Sales manger Anne Wilcox — it concluded with our saying we weren’t coming back. Her response was «That’s great»… I personally would fire any sales manager on the spot for ever uttering such a statement to multi year repeat customers. To be fair — we have complained to her ONCE before. ONE time before we called them on not giving us the AAA rate we are entitled to.
One thing I will say about this hotel when you are a Hyatt Passport member they treat you alot worse. Will be terminating the card with corporate…
Let’s see we were woken up by housekeeping at 8:12 AM even though the «do not disturb» was in keyhole. We called down to complain… desk person unapologetic.
We booked the room ahead of time, we had a confirmation. When we checked in… it took almost 15 minutes of key punching on his computer to give us a room — I have no idea what the guy was doing. How could it take that long, if you were already confirmed, and a repeat customer. We were the only person in line. I finally went over and sat in lobby in a chair why this kept going on, honestly it was probably longer than 15 minutes. We asked repeatedly if we were given our triple A rate … and he just nodded.
When we checked out the bill was $ 216 ! for a hotel we usually pay around $ 129 for. They never mentioned the rate hike or why we weren’t getting our triple A discount.
I think the entire Hyatt Passport card is a fraud honestly. I have dealt with a fire on the premises, misquoted rates, giving our room away, broken A/​C, one time a bed that was made up and the sheets obviously not cleaned from the previous guest. we have been stupidly loyal… but we are done.
DON’T RECOMMEND YOU STAYING HERE.

Jennifer. I honestly do NOT think you appreciate loyal patronage. I stay at hotels all over the world… and instead of being concerned regarding the issue, which is inconsistent service at this property… you merely recommend I stay elsewhere. which we are in total agreement on.
Yes or no you had a fire in your property and went ahead and booked guest there even though the stink was horrible?
Yes or no you had malfunctioning A/​C units and you knowingly booked people into rooms where they wouldn’t cool reasonably in a Texas summer?
Yes or no we have Triple A on our Hyatt Passport account and you repeatedly book the rooms ignoring the discount?
Yes or no — even with the do not disturb sign in keyhole, maid service knocks at 8:15 AM
Yes or no — it takes over 15 minutes of entering info at yoru front desk to get a room even though we have the Hyatt Passport and pre-​confirmed room.
You have a problem at that hotel and you don’t really care as long as you keep your rooms booked up.
Loyalty doesn’t count for anything with Hyatt.

I’m writing this review while we’re still here, so things are fresh in my mind. Overall, there’s a lot to like about staying here, and the things I don’t like are really personal preference, so others might not care as much.

Fridge and kitchen sink… nice
Comfy couch on the suite side of the room
Air conditioning that works really well. Wife and I love a cold room. We got it here… too cold, even. Really good.
Dislikes:
The shower, while clean, had a shower head that felt more like a garden hose than a really great shower. Very directional. Good pressure, but I like a somewhat more spray-​like shower.
The channel selection for the in room cable is pretty lame. No Travel, Food, Comedy, Bravo. HBO, which is nice, but otherwise none of the channels we really watch. Lots of news and sports. Meh.
The wifi is lousy. Dog slow, when you can get on at all. Starbucks has better wifi by a mile and it shouldn’t be that way.
By the couch, there’s a pile of toenail clippings left by the room’s prior guest. That’s kinda gross. Of course, that’s not the hotels fault. What is, however, is that clearly that area of the room hasn’t seen a vacuum in a while… even after I asked that it be done. Boo.
So there you have it. Mostly good, a handful of less than awesome. Next time we’re in Austin, we’d probably stay elsewhere just to see how other places are. But certainly this place has not soured our trip at all.
EDIT: not long after posting this review, the front desk called and said «hi! Apparently, our staff didn’t vacuum all that well. We’d like to fix that.» A few minutes later the cleaning staff was at the door, and 2 minutes later, no more toenails. Now the one with no excuse is the animal who left them there in the first place, and as I said, can’t blame the hotel for that. Nicely done Hyatt Place! :-)
EDIT 2: we got back to our room and found a note from the Manager apologizing for the vacuuming thing, and a bottle of wine! That’s class. Nicely done again!

From the moment I arrived I knew that I would enjoy my stay. The lobby was amazing, there was a convenient are for purchasing snack items available ²⁴⁄₇ as well as a 24/​menu for ordering appetizers and drinks. The room was amazing, beautiful and very comfortable. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for any occasion!

I was impressed with the value I got from this place. I needed a room that can handle at least 3 big adults and the Hyatt did just fine. The staff was friendly and they even let me check in early. They also have a free hot breakfast that everyone can come to no vouchers required. The bar is pretty nice and they even have a little snack bar to get some quick grub. Overall I’m really happy with the way things turned out and I’m looking at Hyatt hotels next time I need a place to stay.

Great atmosphere! Fasted and best check-​in! The staff was warm and welcoming. Very nice room, pretty good priced. Location to the city is not optimal, but for the room and the price we will make it work.

Nice quaint hotel. The employees were friendly, he even tried to give me tips on Austin & the things we should try to enjoy. We didn’t stay in the room long enough to have run-​ins with room service or bad customer service.
The room was nice too. We had a king bed w/​the swivel TV. AC was working great! The door in the bathroom often time wouldn’t lock, but it was no biggie.
The hotel lobby has a strong vanilla smell, that was my only bit lol.

Rooms are great and comfy front desk staff are very helpful, location lets this one down a lot being so far out and its a $ 20 taxi ride to downtown austin
So if your looking for a good clean big room and have a rental car or just stoping by this will be ok if you want to explore austin try booking the other hyatt in downtown austin location is a big let down

Stayed here this past weekend with my parents. Was given room 305, stay away from this room, the entrance door handle is broken as well as the restroom door. Considering we were staying for one night, I brought it to the front desk lady’s attention when I checked out. However, when i brought it to her attention, I was given no apology for the inconvenience that caused my poor dad to jiggle each handle for about 5 mins every time we left our room or had to shower or go to the bathroom. Because she showed no acknowledgement for the broken door handles, it brought back how annoyed I was of my whole stay.
Anyway, I hope they fix the handles in that room, until then, I will probably stay at my initial first choice, the omni.

This hotel was A-​OK. Nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing exceptional to write about either.
The rooms were spacious yet average. A mini fridge was included but no microwave. The water pressure of the shower definitely sucks and if I remember correctly, the water didn’t get very hot either which was very disappointing for a person like me who likes hot showers.
The breakfast wasn’t anything to rave about either. The pancakes were actually crunchy. That being said, they didn’t taste very good. The thing that I did like, however, was the variety of teas that they had. I definitely took advantage of that :)
All in all, we didn’t have a bad experience but probably won’t return to this hotel if we’re in the area again.
