Hoverman Isabel V MD MACP

Dr. Hoverman has been my doctor for over 20 years. She is thorough, caring, and Knowledgeable. Everything you would want in a family doctor.

First, you get an unwanted sartorial review by her nurse and are subjected to her rude office staff. Second, as a new patient, you then get to sit reciting your very complex medical history as the doctor looks blankly in your direction. When she steps out to allow you to slip into the paper outfit so you can be examined, she returns literally only a few minutes later declaring she has resolved all… every medical problem you have is because you are fat. Suddenly, it is clear and obvious she hadn’t listened to you at all. While weight loss is a major need in my case (and that is not a surprise!), it is but ONE problem and not the cause of many other serious medical conditions. Her solution…“you must dig deep into yourself.” Didn’t know she was was a psychiatrist, too That’s it folks. No concrete suggestions… other than surgery which my insurance does not cover. I am nonplussed this doctor knows all in 3 minutes… before receiving or reviewing my large body of medical records with a multitude of x-​rays, lab work, MRIs… and other doctors’ notes. Rather amazing! I was looking for an internist to take me seriously, hit the case full on and hard. Instead I get an uninformed, instant (and wrong) conclusion and am told come to return back in 2 months… No thanks. Fortunately, after terminating my patient/​doctor relationship here I have gone on to find a wonderful internist with a lovely staff who not only listens and cares but uses medical history and doesn’t jump to instant conclusions or offer no real solutions. Perhaps Dr. Hoverman is your cup of tea, she was too cold to be mine.

She is not well-​versed in working with people. If you don’t mind her terrible bedside manner, you’ll be okay. Otherwise, she enjoys making people wait at least half-​hour after their scheduled appointment and then making them wriggle under her scrutiny and blank stare. I did not return to her for these reasons.

Dr. Hoverman is a good doctor! Conservative: yes! (I think that’s a good thing! Don’t want to gamble with my health). Wacko: no! I have seen most of the doctors in this practice and I was pleased with each one.
My only complaints would be… you can rarely get a same day appointment. Which is a HUGE problem when your sick!!! Also, the front desk people are not nice, not happy and not friendly. The doctors seriously need to «clean house.»
The doctors know their stuff. If you can make it past the front desk and you’re not in a hurry… you will be fine!

Conservative and kind of a wacko. After remonstrating me for not getting a flu shot, her treatment for sleep deprivation was to search Google, «see what they say» and then come back in a few months or so.
