Lauren is an amazing makeup artist and the ultimate business owner. She excelled at learning what my daughter, the bride wanted and it was all settled and confirmed at the trial. She also coordinated the hairstyling and it was gorgeous. Throughout the wedding planning, Lauren was very professional and very efficient in coordinating with the bride. On the day of the wedding, the make up and hair was scheduled for the bride, six bridesmaids and the MOB.
The ladies arrived and promptly began their magic. It was such a smooth, relaxed atmosphere and each person (each person requested an individual hairstyle) was extremely pleased with their makeup and hair! It was such a great experience! Thank you Lauren.

Lauren was amazing to work with. She is very organized and was great at just communicating over email. She was also accommodating for any tweaks made the day of the wedding.
I was nervous about choosing a makeup artist for myself and my bridesmaids because it’s difficult to find someone who understands how to work with different asian eye shapes and skin tones. I had difficulty finding anyone who had asian brides in their portfolio, but I was recommended to Lauren by my hairstylist, Tammie Garza, so I went with it. All my fears went away when I had my trial done with her! I felt amazing, but what wowed me the most was when she made up my bridesmaids so perfectly well. They were so happy with their makeup, and that made me super happy. I also felt that my day of makeup was even better than the trial!
Everyone loved their lashes and their makeup held up well throughout the whole night, even if we did get teary eyed at some points.

Lauren is wonderful to communicate with via e-​mail in setting up a makeup session for my engagement photos. Unfortunately, I was running pretty late from coming into town but she was still very willing to accommodate. My only comment is that I felt the more natural makeup look I was going for turned out to be about 10% more dramatic than I wanted. This was easily fixed by toning down my lip color and adding some blending with my fingertips in the car mirror. Overall, Lauren was very nice and her prices are affordable as well. The makeup in the engagement photos we got back looked great.

First of all, I am a super-​busy middle school teacher/​girls athletic coach/​student council sponsor/​No Place for Hate sponsor who got engaged in January and decided to book my hair and make-​up appointment the day before my April Bridal portraits. I was in a bind and spent more time in my classroom than I did planning for the pictures. After searching on Unilocal,I came across Hint of Shimmer and saw the great reviews and thought I would give it a try.
I have never had my make-​up professionally applied, and I never really wear much make-​up. So, I was pretty excited/​nervous to have this done for the photos that I’d be sharing with friends and family for my special day. I did go on Pinterest ahead of time and pick out a few pictures of celebrities that I liked.
When I arrived, I met Lauren. She was simply amazing and welcoming, and listened to what I wanted. I showed her a picture of the celebrity look I was going for and she matched it perfectly. The eyelashes were my favorite part! She applied individual eyelashes and this really made the photos pop. The photographers were very impressed and kept commenting on how beautiful I looked… I was called a Princess several times throughout the day. I also used her for my Engagement photos. She came through once more! My fiancé kept telling me how beautiful I looked.
I would recommend using Lauren for your next event. She is worth every penny!

Lauren is a fantastic makeup artist! I felt so beautiful and her makeup really lasts. I’m weird about getting my eyes done. Lauren was patient and coached me through it. I loved the way my makeup looked for my trial, bridal photos, and wedding day. She got me hooked on fake lashes! She gave me the perfect look for my wedding day. I wanted it natural that played up my eyes. It was perfect. I highly suggest Lauren and Hint of Shimmer! She’s a true professional!

Nicole recently did makeup for me and some bridesmaids at my wedding and I could not have been happier with everything. She was very professional, all of the products she used were high quality, and she kept everything very clean. She was great to talk to and hang out in the room as the craziness before the wedding was happening. I got so many complements on my makeup, and have never seen my skin so smooth and flawless. Even IPhone photos were gorgeous. I highly recommend her.

Lauren is an exceptional makeup artist and a wonderful person to work with! I’m a photographer and after seeing what a difference professional makeup has made for brides and moms, I decided to hire Lauren to do my makeup for a photo session with my parents. I’m so glad I did!
Lauren is a true professional. She makes the booking process easy and quick, and she’s very responsive, which I value very highly. Being easy to reach and being courteous and gracious isn’t something you find every day, and you might often forget how important those things are in addition to someone’s talents and services.
I’ve really never had professional makeup before so I didn’t know what to expect, but she made me feel super comfortable with the unknown. I have freckles and I hate having them covered up with foundation, so I was hesitant when she told me she was going to do some airbrush makeup. She told me to trust her and that I would love it, and she was right! Not only could you still see my freckles, but my skin looked amazing. I have chin acne and I didn’t have to worry AT ALL about it showing up in the photos. What a gift that was. I could just be myself and didn’t have my attention on my makeup for one second. It stayed all night long and looked as good that night as it did that morning!
She also did a very thorough and meticulous eyelash application with little whispies of 3 lashes at a time. It looked real but way better than my natural lashes! And I loved her lip color choice. I’ve never liked lipstick but the color she chose couldn’t have been better. She just has a natural eye for what works on your particular face with your coloring.
I had never really seen myself made up that much, so at first it was a little hard to get used to, but I knew from my experience on the other side of the camera that it would look less glamorous and more natural in the photos. I was right. It was PERFECT. I’m kind of a hippie and definitely stick to a very natural look on a daily basis, so I didn’t want to look too bodacious in the photos. I wanted to look like me. And I did. I looked like the best version of me, and I am so thrilled that I took the plunge to entrust my face to Lauren :) If you’re like me and don’t have much experience with pro makeup and are worried you won’t look like you, you won’t have to worry if you go to Lauren. I recommend her hands down, both as a professional and as a person.

Lauren was my makeup artist for my wedding last November 2013. She’s in the list of my wedding of the day coordinator’s preferred vendors. I had a morning wedding so she & Tammie (on a separate review) arrived at my house early at 6:45AM to setup everything. I was running late but I never heard a complaint from them.
Lauren is such a sweet lady with pleasing personality. On my makeup trial, she asked what type of look I want to achieve. After showing her just 1 photo I got from a bridal magazine, she did her magic on me! I looked so different in a good way. I never looked that good before using other professional makeup artists on my brother’s wedding & other special occasions. She was also open to feedback.
On my wedding day, my makeup was even better than the trial run! My husband & I really fell in love with my hair & makeup. Most of our guests called me a ‘living doll’. The wives of my colleagues thought that I’m still young! Now, that’s a real compliment!
Lauren also did the makeup of my mother, mother-​in-​law, & matron-​of-​honor. They all looked so blooming! My mother has a strong look but she mellowed it with natural looking makeup. I never saw my mama looked that beautiful before. :-)
The airbrush makeup was so fine & lasted the entire day. My face was not oily. I have a sensitive skin but my face never reacted.
She was even kind enough to stay for a number of minutes so my videographer can take video footage of my makeup session.

Lauren was the best makeup artist I’ve had the experience to work with. I’ve been in a number of weddings and have never been as pleased with the make up as I was with the way Lauren did it. She didn’t make me look over done or under done and really considered my face, my dress, my hair and the venue when she did the make up. She did a trial run and then we did make up for my bridals and the wedding and each time it was flawless. She even re-​did one side of my face for my bridals (and I was still on time) because my skin a little dry. The make up stays on beautifully as well. My bridals were out side mid August (in TX which is about 100 degrees). I had sweat dripping from every part of me but the make up stayed perfectly. I did get airbrushing for that main purpose and I do believe it is worth every penny. She also did the MOG, MOB and all the bridesmaid’s makeup. My mother got a lot of compliments and I though everyone looked flawless. I also liked that she made sure to ask how to do the make up for my 15 year old cousin who was also a bridesmaid, and she did age appropriate. She was professional and prompt and also great at getting back to me (or my mother) whenever we had questions. Her prices were extremely reasonable as well. She is also just a genuinely nice person. She is also flexible in her schedule — I had to start getting ready at 6:00 am for my bridals and she was able to do it. She works with Tammie Garza and they book up fast so if you want them I would book early.

I worked with Lauren for the 2013 Marine Corps ball this past weekend and I could not have been happier. She is a wonderful listener and understood the sort of natural, understated look that I was trying to achieve — and she acheived it perfectly. She was extrmely patient and, to this day, has been the only person that I’ve been able to work with re: lashes — I hardly even noticed when she was applying, and I am extrmeley sensitive about anything going on around my eyes (just ask my poor eye doctor!). It was a real blessing to have found her and I would not hesitate for a moment about working with her again.

Lauren was booked for my wedding day already but had her associate (also named Lauren!) do the makeup for myself and my bridesmaids and she did a fabulous job! Everyone had a natural but glamorous look and the makeup didn’t budge even with a bunch of dancing and humid Texas evening. The makeup also looks flawless in the photos. And it’s great that she will travel to you — made it so easy! I would definitely recommend Hint of Shimmer for wedding makeup — great quality and price.

Lauren was absolutely wonderful to work with. She did a beautiful job during my trial run and was very professional. I made some minor changes to my look and she executed exactly what I asked for the day of my wedding. All of my BMs looked absolutely gorgeous as well! She’s a sweetheart and even stayed a few extra minutes to snap some photos for us. I definitely plan to book her for all of my future events and would recommend her to anyone.

Lauren was one of my lifesavers for my wedding. My make up person backed out at the last min and I frantically called around until I found Lauren! She did a great job and we didn’t even get to have a trial because of the last min change!

I had the pleasure of working with Lauren on several occasions leading up to my wedding and I am going to miss seeing her so often now that the wedding is over! Not only is she one of the sweetest people you will ever meet but she is also very professional and super talented. She and her team did a beautiful job on me, my nine bridesmaids and both my mom and my husband’s mom. Everyone looked absolutely stunning!

Lauren is amazing! While I don’t know «everything» about make-​up, I know what is «good» and what isn’t, and I definitely know what I like. I was nervous about letting someone else «take over» my face for my wedding, but I could not be more pleased with Lauren’s work. I’m not the most descriptive person, but she knew exactly what I wanted and gave me a dramatic look, while still looking classy and polished. This girl is talented, professional, and an absolute sweetheart. She also did the MOB, MOG, and one of my bridesmaids, and they all looked amazing. Besides looking great, the make-​up lasted, and I still look fantastic in those «messy» 3am pictures. I cannot give her a higher recommendation! Use this girl!

I heard about Lauren through a friend of mine, and I decided to try her out for my wedding. I tried the usual Google searching, and was coming up short between artists that seemed to nickel-​and-​dime for everything or I just didn’t like their style. I wasn’t entirely sure what look I was going for, but i knew none of the ones that I found were it. I met with Lauren for a trial, and it was awesome! Like I said, I didn’t have a «vision» of what I wanted to look like, but I knew some general things. All I had to do was mention the wedding colors, time, and the general ideas I had in mind, and Lauren got right to work. She was great about checking in with me to see if I was happy with the direction my makeup was taking, and she wasn’t at all pushy. If I wanted to try something, she was more than willing to do whatever I asked. At the end of the trial, I was completely wowed by what Lauren had come up with. It exceeded my expectations. I was pretty stressed about my look, since I wasn’t totally sure what I wanted, but Lauren did a great job on my makeup and putting me at ease.
The day of went just as smoothly, and Lauren worked fast to recreate the look that we had come up with during the trial. Again, I was totally wowed. I also loved the fact that it didn’t feel like my makeup was applied with a trowel. It was really light, which was great since my wedding was outside in Texas in September. With that being said, my makeup lasted throughout the entire ceremony and reception. I’m still getting compliments from people who look at the pictures – when they ask who did the makeup, I’m happy to tell them about Lauren at Hint of Shimmer. Thanks, Lauren!

I have had my makeup done several times by Hint of Shimmer and have been super satisfied everytime! Lauren really pays attention to what the client wants and needs and respects that all clients are different. I would definitely recommend Hint of Shimmer for any special event!
