Shehnila is amazing. She threads my eyebrows in about 5 minutes and I am always happy with the result. You can’t beat the price and she shapes them perfectly. This place is not fancy but so my eyebrows don’t mind at all.

I don’t know about eyebrow threading, but I ‘cheated’ on my regular hairstylist bec she was booked and I was in a rush. What a disappointment. I received what seemed like a 6 year olds haircut. Straight in the front. Straight in the back. I didn’t dare open my mouth and risk a disaster. Lesson learned. DONT CHEAT ON YOUR HAIR PROFESSIONAL!

I won’t go anywhere else for eyebrow threading. The wait is rarely longer than 5 minutes. I never ask for a specific threader — I just go with whoever is available — and I have been pleased with the result every time. Take cash to pay only $ 10.

Shehnila is the best — totally patient and listens to what you want when it comes to threading. I have only let two other people thread my brows there, and I can’t remember their names … but just go with Shehnila. Or at least tell Shehnila exactly what you want, and she’ll communicate it to whoever is helping. It is honestly too bad that Austin has such a lack of people who thread. My right eyebrow is struggling right now because I let someone else do it last time. NEVER AGAIN. Shehnila forever.
Also people complaining about cash-​only are crazy. I used to do this in Houston on the regular, and it’s always cash-​only. Come on.

Walked in to get my brows cleaned up since I work right across the street in the Telco building. (Owner looks up and tells me to have a seat in chair) The person who was getting a blow out by owner gets up and starts going at my eye brows. (Side note: the chair this woman uses is a regular one where you have to slide your body down and hand your head over the back of it) She finishes and hands me mirror, they were completely uneven. I turned around and asked owner to fix them for me since she looked like she had more experience and was watching the entire time and she straight up said NO. She walked over and looked and started arguing about how she tells «them» to do whatever the customer says to do. I have never had to go anywhere where I have to ask for even eyebrows. Owner gets irate and starts arguing with me on «what I want?» I stated they were uneven and got up to pay, asked if they were on Unilocal and if I could have a business card, not until then did the owner OFFER to fix them for me, hesitated in giving me business card and got loud with me AGAIN. Rude. Unprofessional. Disgusting. Wish I never even wasted my time here.

Love the prices and service here. I always call ahead to just make sure they don’t have appointments. Don’t forgot get to bring cash!

Whoa. I have gotten my brows threaded before and it never hurt. This was like slow torture, hair by hair. The lady who did my brows seemed a little snippy and not completely pleasant. $ 10 for eyebrows was cash only special so it was $ 15 for me which is fine, I just needed somewhere quick in and out and that’s exactly what this was. Looking closer I’m going to have to do a little clean up on my brows before I’m completely happy with them. I won’t ever cheat on my eyebrow lady again because she is worth the drive and effort to schedule!

After reading good reviews I went there for full waxing but didn’t find anything professional there. I am not even sure if the stuff they were using on me was not used on people before. Lady who did my waxing was taking help from other people probably she was new. When I came home I saw patches that were missed and also my arms have rashes now. Paid too much for such a bad service.

The best place in Austin for threading. They are gentle and quick. I get my lip threaded and they are quick.
At other places I’ve had to wait an hour (AN HOUR) and rush through the service not caring about your comfort or satisfaction. Those type of places may as well have an eject button on the chair so they can get the next person in.
At Hair It Is, I’ve never had to wait very long when here and the ladies are always very friendly and make you feel comfortable. They make sure you are satisfied with their work. A calm atmosphere that just makes you feel good to be there.

This is my first threading experience and it was FANTASTIC! As a fair skinned redhead– wax has been harsh and i swell and am red for a long period after– not anymore! Sonia took care of me, was very sweet and did an awesome job. The customer service was SUPERB! I will be back and will be sharing with all of my friends!

$ 10 dollars for eyebrow threading, and add an extra $ 5 and you get lip threading too?! What an awesome value. They always do a great job on my brows and the service is quick when there is no line.
As a tip for everyone: bring cash if you can, they might charge you transaction fees if you use credit card for small amount payments.

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded here for the last year or so and I have never had anything less than perfect brows when I leave. only $ 10 (if you have cash) I’ve had 3 different women do my brows here and they always come out perfect*. Highly recommend!

Add me to the «Shehnila Fan Club»! She is so great! I started going to her in 2008 whenever I needed threading. She might be the best in Austin! Recently, I was looking for a new place to cut my hair– why I hadn’t though to go here before for a cut? I have no idea. If she is trying to promote herself as a stylist and now focus on hair too– I am only too happy to promote her. Curly hair is so particular and I truly hate getting hair cuts and often put it off way too long. Shehnila helped me out right before my first anniversary and both hubby and I were so happy with the cut! Go go go and go! You won’t be disappointed!

I love Shehnila! She does such an excellent job at eyebrow threading and she’s so pleasant and sweet to talk to. I’m not a fan of the other lady who does the eyebrow threading when Shehnila is busy so it’s a hit or miss depending if she’s free. It used to be $ 8 but they raised it to $ 10 cash. They charge more if you use a credit card. I live south so it’s quite a drive to head up north but when I am in that are, I’ll go to her!

I love Shenila! I originally came to her for eyebrow threading and have since asked her cut and color my hair. She is so friendly and hard working. She listens and does exactly what you want. Her prices are very affordable. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I took my kids to get a hair cut today my little girl for her bangs re shaped and a trim, my son got a Mohawk, not the type my husband wanted, but I still liked Shehnila.
She is super friendly and careful with my kids and with me, I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time and she was very careful and patient.
It didn’t hurt at all except for when I let go of my eyebrow and she cut me on accident. Will be goin back for my eyebrows

I’m so glad I was referred to Hair It Is! I’ve lived in the Austin area for almost 5 years and I hadn’t found someone to thread my eyebrows, that I was happy with.
Fast, friendly, economical. Perfect for me!

I’ve gone to Tara’s Salon and Spa off and on for eyebrow threading but it’s more expensive and I’m a wimp with pain so I don’t do it regularly. I decided to take a chance with Hair It Is and I think this will be my new go to.
I walked in looking for some sort of sign-​in sheet but there was nothing. Then a women motioned me right back to the chair, went to wash her hands, and got started threading. I think the whole thing was about 3 minutes total. Quick threading that hurt a little less than I remembered, trim of the eyebrows, and then I was being led to the counter to pay while I wiped all the hairs away from my eyes. So maybe the bedside (chairside?) manner isn’t that great but the eyebrow work was pretty solid. $ 10 (cash only) and a tip and I was out the door super quick.
Compared to other threading I’ve had at Tara’s:
— At Tara’s everyone is more friendly and talkative; here there is no talking
— At Tara’s they seem to go over every area about three times and really get all the little blonde baby hairs under your eyebrow and between your eyebrows and hair line; here it’s much quicker and not as thorough but definitely looks good enough and is less painful and red after so pros and cons…
— At Tara’s they wipe off the stray hairs after and put on a soothing lotion, here they don’t do any of that and just heard you out the door

I’m really sorry to leave this review. I was recommended this place by several friends after I had to switch away from my beloved salon in Dallas after moving. Unfortunately, while the threading stylist was always accommodating, that’s where the good stuff ends.
Her seat is a regular low-​backed salon chair, so I have to slide way down in the seat and hunch over with my neck balanced on the edge of the top during the whole brow threading service.
Next, she is quick, efficient, but very abrupt. This means micro-​cuts all over my face with little thread snaps. I’ve been to my stylist in Dallas at least three dozen times in the past couple of years, so I know that this doesn’t have to hurt as much as it does. And every time the stylist gets started, I think, «Last time was just an aberration.» I’ve now been to her at least half a dozen times, though, and every single time is the same. I’ve had to squint my eyes shut when she adjusts to thread lower brow hairs, because she’s cut my eyelid a couple of times before and poked her nail in my eye once. (Most people apologize at this point; she never has across six visits)
My understanding is that typically cash-​only places will allow you to pay by card as long as you hit a certain dollar limit. Not here; she overcharged me the one time she let me use my card, and grumbled even though I left a 33% tip (I do that every time). The only time she’s really nice is immediately before I walk out the door, right after I leave my tip.
This most recent visit, I left with clean brows and then a half-​inch «paper cut» looking cut from thread horizontally snaking across the left side of my lip. It’s been stinging for over 48 hours, and I can feel a couple more near the upper part of my face. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Hopefully this review lets the owner work a bit on her «chairside manner», and also helps someone else avoid cringing in pain when getting threaded.

For my first time being threaded, this was a great experience. Shehnila was SO nice and so accommodating. To top it off, she threaded my eyebrows in a matter of minutes and they looked GREAT!
Clean atmosphere, cheap and great service. What more can you ask for?
