I started with Guthrie’s, moved to several others including that «organic one» that killed my silk blouses, and came back. I don’t think any dry cleaners do a superlative job but this is the best I’ve found in Austin – clothes come back cleaned and properly pressed, the people working there are very nice and very responsive, and I use them for a lot of casual sewing stuff. They are not cheap but less expensive than more «up-​town» places and they have no attitude.
The neighborhood is both sketchy and congested – I’ve had to go all the way to Berkman to turn around and go back to west of I-​35 because it was so hard to get into the flow of traffic on Cameron going south. And I swear that I’ve seen drug deals going down a block away – but in the daylight there’s no issues. (But while I’m at it, there is a wonderful food truck two blocks south on Cameron on the east side just across from Churchs that sells either a half or whole roast chicken with beans and rice that is to die for and I wouldn’t have known if I wasn’t using Guthrie’s.)

The best ever. The nicest two ladies work here. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I’ve been using Guthrie’s for the last two years and love them! They are very low price, do a great job and have fantastic customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a local (Hutto & Austin) cleaners that knows how to take care of their customers.

I’ve used Guthrie Cleaners only once to have my clothing dry-​cleaned and it was a somewhat stressful experience. I had several shirts and pants that needed to be cleaned and I was given a two day ETA (dropped off Monday morning, ready by Wednesday afternoon). Of course I was traveling on Thursday morning, so any delay would be difficult to work around. When I came to pick up my clothing on Wednesday, one of my shirts was missing. Worst of all, they had no record of the shirt ever being in my order. Fortunately I knew the brand/​size and when they called the actual cleaning location up in Hutto they found it immediately. Of course since it was up in Hutto they refused to bring it back that day and I would be leaving Austin prior to the morning delivery. I just had to make do without that shirt and picked it up after my trip.
Aside from that incident, the rest of the experience was fine. Service was prompt, extremely cheap, and the clothing was well cleaned and pressed. I’ll give them another chance but will probably go a little earlier than needed this time.

Quick, excellent, CHEAP service. Half I what I’ve paid at other dry cleaners in town, maybe less. Clothes come back neatly pressed, clean, and on time — and the service is friendly and professional. I will continue to go out of my way just to use Guthrie cleaners!

This is a family-​owned dry cleaning business that is luckily conveniently located a stone’s throw from my house. I initially tried Guthrie’s based on the positive Unilocal reviews. I decided to try another cleaners as the one we had been using kept breaking buttons on my husband’s laundered shirts. Guthrie’s is reasonably priced, and they offer prompt service. It’s a no-​frills establishment, but the ladies who work there are always really courteous. So far my laundry and dry cleaning has all come back looking great, and no buttons broken thus far… keeping my fingers crossed that this is our new dry cleaners!

WEDDING DRESS DISASTER AVERTED
I got my wedding dress as a sample sale, so it had some make up and grime on it. My intention was to get it dry cleaned after it was altered. The person who altered it did a half ass job after she had it for 4 weeks. I had to leave it with her another week and it still was not right. By this point, I was more concern about getting the dress clean. I took it to Guthrie Cleaners because they dry clean on site and gave me a 2 – 3 day turn around time. I dropped off the dress and they told me it would be ready the next day. I rushed there early the next day to see if I could take it to someone who could help fix the dress. Well I lacked to read the ticket that said it would be ready the next day, but at 4pm. Discouraged I told the lady working that day (I apologize for not remembering her name) that I was hoping to take it to someone else to fix it… still not knowing who that someone would be:\ She said she knows of a lady that does real good alterations. She picked up the phone and called this alterations lady at her house!!! She told me where she worked, when she got in, and that she would be expecting me. She gave me the cleaned (not yet pressed) dress that was already more than I had hoped for and told me to bring it back when it was done. The new alternations lady worked with the disaster the previous lady made and fixed all the issues she could in one day! I dropped my dress back off at Guthrie Cleaners where they told me I could pick it up at 4pm the same day. Needless to say I cried and hugged her for all her help! Since then I have taken linen, silk, and stains to Guthrie Cleaners and it has always come back like new. The best part, their prices are so reasonable. I drive from northwest Austin to Guthrie Cleaners because I have not found the same quality for the price along with such great service. THANK YOU so much ladies!!!

Despite my peacoat being deeply covered with the smell of smoke from being around a bonfire for three plus hours, Guthrie’s was able to make the smell mostly undetectable. You’d really have to sniff hard at the front to be able to detect any smell of smoke. The price was reasonable ($ 11 bucks+tax, I think). Will definitely return in the future, they’re worth going out of your way for. I only own one good peacoat, so I made sure I found the best place to have it dry cleaned at. Also, I was running late and came
right at 12 on a Saturday when they closed. It was my second attempt to pick up my coat, since I didn’t have my wallet my first time around. I caught the owner at the door and instead of telling me they’re closed or having a fit, she graciously let me in and gave me my coat. Overall, friendly and prompt customer service!

These people are as exceptionally friendly! I am too lazy to iron my business casual linen shirts, so I brought them to Guthrie Cleaners. The shirts only cost $ 2 a pop for the phenomenal job they did! Now I look like a boss when I roll into work!

Like other reviewers mentioned, they are very friendly and customer service oriented.
No attitude, requests are granted with a smile and prices are very reasonable. Oh and they do a fab job in regards to dry cleaning! My garments always come back fresh and looking better than when I dropped them off.
Bottom line: Guthrie Cleaners really values their clients and their business!

I’m going to say some «F» words about Guthrie Cleaners … friendly, fast, family-​owned.
For years, I have had a tumultuous relationship with various dry cleaners, particularly those on Manor Road (I’m looking at you Home Steam) so I’ve been in the market for another option in proximity to the Mueller, Cameron, or Berkman area … I used the Unilocal app to find one in this general area and I happened across Guthrie’s.
Is the building fancy? Nope. Do I care? Nope. It just means they are focusing on dry cleaning my clothes! Was it super-​cheap? Nope. But I don’t trust a bargain-​basement dry cleaner, because I am fairly convinced they are not giving my clothes proper TLC.
Guthrie’s is so non-​descript that I’ve driven by on my way to Target for oh, I don’t know … TEN years … and I’ve never even noticed it. But I went out of my way to find it and I have been rewarded for my efforts. They were just SO nice and responsive that they have won their way to my happy, little, dry-​cleaning heart.

The staff was friendly and since I just about never have anything dry cleaned, I was very excited about dropping off my pea coat and getting it back all pretty and new-​like.
My only worry was that my black pea coat still had little white fuzzies all over it (you know, the ones that a pea coat attracts when you touch any surface at all while wearing it?) when I got it back, and my bill was pretty steep. I don’t remember exactly how much since this was back in February, but I know it was over $ 11. I guess I was just hoping all the fuzzies would be gone and it wouldn’t have cost so much, but like I said, I am not familiar with the dry cleaning world so maybe that is normal.
Either way, I will be back because I liked the homey atmostphere and I can be more specific when I drop off other things just to make sure I get exactly what I want.

I checked out Guthrie’s after reading Amanda M’s and Victor T’s reviews. They are closer to my house than Reid’s, and my last experience with Reid’s was so-​so.
The lady at the front counter was very friendly and professional, and offered next day service for my husband’s 3 dress shirts. The cost was $ 6 and they came back to us in perfect condition.
I got the feeling that this family business has a lot of pride in what they do. I am happy to have found a cleaner that I really like and trust.

Based on Amanda M’s review I decided to check this place out since it is a mile from my house. I pulled up to this establishment and was greeted by the nicest counter person. She checked all of my garments in and said they would be available for pick up the next day. I was shocked. Next day service and no extra charge? AWESOME!
So, the next day after 3 p.m. I picked up my three sweaters, jacket, and overcoat. All of the items are wool and were at drop-​off teaming with yellow Labrador Retriever hair. When I inspected the freshly cleaned clothes, they were without a trace of dog hair. I was extremely pleased with their cleaning service.
This place isn’t fancy, but damn, they do an incredible job.

I’ve lived in Austin a long, long time. I’ve used almost every Dry Cleaner in town.
Rick’s ruined my hot pink suede studded pants — and that’s no joke. (Those were the best damn pants ever!)
Reid’s is overrated and pricey, even with their sticker cards. (I have the obvious overcharging of women’s clothes over men’s. Really, a button-​up shirt is a button up shirt!)
This place is trust worthy and honest, with fair prices. It’s family run, kind of cluttered and filed with weird odds and ends, like the waving bear statue and the boy’s baseball pictures. But that’s exactly why I like it!
One of the best part, I think, is that they do the dry cleaning *right* there. No shipping your stuff off somewhere else. They have same day service. They have a drive through for elderly and handicapped only. I admire that they offer that service.
We moved out of the neighborhood 3 years ago, and I still drive back there to bring them my dry cleaning. Because I trust them.
