For as little as $ 4 an hour, users can conveniently rent cars from people nearby by the hour, day, or week and save hundreds of dollars on car payments, auto insurance, and maintenance. Car owners, while making a positive impact on the environment, can make money by renting out their cars to help offset the high costs of car ownership. History

Established in 2009.

Getaround was born from a challenge: create a project that could positively impact over a billion people in the next ten years. We saw a common problem with the personal automobile; car owners invest huge amounts of money and time into an asset they barely use. Cars are only driven 8% of time while hundreds of people walk past them block after block. We were determined to create a sustainable solution to employ the millions of underutilized vehicles that sit unused day in and day out and enable people to use existing vehicles rather than buying a new one. By creating a peer-​to-​peer platform for car sharing our team of successful entrepreneurs, software developers, and business people found a solution that can bring car sharing anywhere.
