Dr. Friedman took a lot of time with me, making sure she understood the myriad of symptoms that seem to be confusing for many health professionals. She ran a bunch of tests, that no doctor had, asked questions that no doctor had(seeing my primary, endocrinologist, etc.) She has found a few things, and we are still in the testing phases, but I felt some relief finally that she is a good doctor and listened. Still working out all challenges of IBS and other issues, but Dr. Friedman was very thorough. It did take 3 weeks to get in to see her, which is expected when you are seeing a good doctor. She has already found some challenges with the test results, so I believe I am in good hands.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Friedman. After an Endoscopy, she misdiagnoised me with a life altering condition and prescribed a very dangerous medicine, all this in a 2 minute conversation. Said to follow up with her in 6 weeks. Went for a second opinion and was told to disregard everything she told me and also indicated they never prescribe the medicine she recommended. This is a great lesson to obtain second opinions as there are many incompenent doctors like Alice Friedman.

I have been a patient of Dr. Friedman for the past 3 years. She was the only one that correctly diagnosed me for pancreatic insufficiency caused IBS, also my gallbladder was under functioning. While the other gastro insisted that there is nothing wrong with me and that I needed to take another dose of antibiotics to kill off all the flora and replant. Which I did and didn’t help that much. Still had serious episodes of painful IBS. Dr. Friedman took the time and did all the tests and found the root cause. It’s such a relief to know why my symptoms exist, instead of chugging everything under«stress» and IBS. Last time I had a gallbladder(may 2012) ultrasound(8am), Dr. Friedman called me that afternoon to tell me that some shadowing was observed. That being said, I am not giving 5 stars because we didn’t 100% agree on my gallbladder treatment. I wish that she would give more encouragement on natural options instead of traditional treatment. Update: this is 1 year after my original review in August of 2012. I caved in and removed my gallbladder as Dr. Friedman recommended for the past 3 years and I resisted whole heartedly looking for a «holistic» cure. Well, now I am changing my review to 5 stars. 1 year after gallbladder surgery, I am no longer agonizing every night that my IBS is going to wake me up in the middle of the night and I need to go to emergency. Am I 100% symptom free, no. I still have other digestive issues, but this is 10 times better than I experienced before. I wish I had listened to her sooner and not suffered so much. Say what you will, but not every gastrointestinal problem can be cured by taking more and more and more probiotics.

I had a terrible experience with Dr Friedman. My experience merits the award for the sloppiest, most impersonal care I have ever gotten. Not only did I get an incorrect diagnosis of a life-changing condition, it was delivered via mail with no support or follow up information. Then, in a second visit, she didn’t recall having ever seen me before. I was reminded of this adage: half of all doctors graduated in the bottom 50% of their graduating class. Take your business — and your ailments — elsewhere.
