Went here because, obviously, I needed help with my computer. Thankfully, the guy who greeted me at the front desk was able to fix my issue in less than a minute. The service was quick and friendly and he didn’t let me leave until he was sure everything was working correctly… and then he didn’t charge me anything! I fell in love with this place, and should anything happen (heaven forbid!), I’ll be bringing my computer here.

Best computer repair place in Austin kind and caring people who save the files on my late mother computer and transfer the file to my computer. Also they had to crack the password to my computer in order to move the files. These people are so great and the turn around is so great. You must try them out.

So happy I chose them. My PC began to meltdown after upgrading to Windows 10 in early September. Microsoft Edge began to slowly not open, then completely disappeared. When all my pictures became corrupt I knew I needed help. They were friendly and helpful on the phone. Ran it right down and they called numerous times to let me know the status. Kept it a day and a half of diagnosis and fixed. $ 86. A total deal! Will be back… if I have to in future.

I bought my wife a new Macbook Air to replace her (really old) Powerbook. I took the (really old) Powerbook and its hip, lightweight descendant into the «Genius Bar» in the Domain to transfer the old pictures and music that she cared about onto the new system.
The genius, while friendly, told me he’d have to charge me over $ 100 to transfer the files. When he told me he could show me how to do the transfer on my own for free, I took him up on the offer. He pulled up the (really old) Powerbook, got ready to launch the Migration Assistant, and promptly discovered that my wife’s (really old) Powerbook was too old to play nicely with her spry new laptop. He said he had never run into that problem before. Did I mention that my wife’s (really old) Powerbook is really old?
Shortly after a botched attempt to put her (really old) Powerbook into «target mode» to do a direct data transfer, we decided to take our problems somewhere else. My wife’s (really old) Powerbook then refused to boot up. Must have been natural causes.
Enter Frankenstein Computer. I exchanged e-​mails with Ryan and he let me know they’d charge me $ 80 to pull the data off the drive, up to a 10GB maximum. Given how old my wife’s (really old) Powerbook was, I was relatively confident we wouldn’t need more than that. However, Ryan let me know that any data transfer over 10GB would be $ 120. I decided to give them a shot.
I dropped off my wife’s (really old) Powerbook on Monday and got it back the next day. It would have been done Monday itself, except the Mac tech happened to be out of the office. Ryan and crew were good enough to let me know that ahead of time and they made sure to call me when the work was done.
All in all, I was happy to have a quick turnaround on what I considered a reasonably-​priced service… and they kept me informed on when things were done without taking up too much of my time. I’d work with them again!

Very nice guys and gals who want to fix your computer problem and not rip you off. The problem may not be what you think it is when you take it in. Therefore after the diagnostics are done the price may be more than what you had hoped for, but it is still a reasonable price to get your laptop fixed and know it’s done right or they will make it right. Highly trustworthy, cool people to talk to… I would definitely recommend and use again.

These guys are awesome! I brought my computer in thinking it was dead forever and they fixed it, only charging me for diagnostics. I got home and still had a problem and so they traded me with a new ac adapter with no charge.

I run a small nonprofit agency and Frankenstein has been our savior on more than one (or six) occasions. Fast and honest and reasonable service. Tony will not try to sell you anything you don’t need and even talked me out of a costly upgrade to my server that would have been at best an expensive band aid in favor of something that can get me through to when I can find funds to purchase a new server. When that happens, they will be installing it. They have earned our trust and loyalty many times over.
They also worked on my personal laptop prior to working with the nonprofit, and that was also a great experience.

I brought my laptop into Frankenstein Computers on Lamar Blvd because it was not charging. After only about an hour, the technician called me with their diagnosis. The problem was just the charger/​adapter, and not the laptop. Not only did they not make a false/​frivolous diagnosis just to coerce me to buy something I did not need, they didn’t even charge me a dime for the diagnosis they did made. They provided me ample information on what part number to replace (adapter/​charger) and where I can purchase one. Sure enough, that simple purchase fixed the problem! I’m extremely happy with my experience with Frankenstein Computers, and recommend them to anyone!

Tony suggested using a blanket to transport my all in one computer and nestling it in the back seat with the passenger seat leaned back. Good advice!
Everyone that works here is nice, and Ryan at the front desk is super friendly and helpful.
I came in at 8am on a Monday morning and got my working computer back Tuesday at 4pm! To me that was fast! My computer had a real easy fix, so it was just the cost of one hour labor. I used the 10% off Unilocal coupon, no problem.
Tim did a good job explaining what the issue was *twice* and talked me through some options for backing up my stuff. It was scary seeing the blue screen, and I will definitely backup from now on.
One thing that could have improved the experience would be if they were better about calling me to give a status update. I was eager to get my work computer back, and called 3 times to ask about the status. One time they said they’d call at the end of the day and didn’t. Then the last time I called they said it was ready to get picked up. So maybe I didn’t give them enough time to call me, because I was calling them a lot and often.
I hope I don’t run into any more computer issues, but if I do, I’ll go back.

I have used these guys for a gaming PC Build and to install an extra internal hard drive.
I cant remember exactly but their hourly rate is between $ 60−80/hr. The total charge to build the PC was about $ 160 (without Windows install) and they turned it around to me within 8 hours.
These guys are a pleasure to deal with and I trust them to fix anything I throw there way. Ryan usually responds to email requests within 24 hours or less!

The Frankenstein Computer experts are as good as it gets. They have been taking care of our computers for several years. Customer service is always excellent and they’ve always been able to correctly diagnose the problem and fix it at a fair price. We’ve even referred an elderly lady to them, and they fix her computer remotely. They’re just a lot of great people caring enough to do a great job.

These guys fixed 3 computers for us with no problems, great customer service and speediness. Highly recommend!

Wow! They wowed me! Specifically, Ryan did. I am a stickler for customer service and I can’t sing Ryan’s praises enough in this review. He did what he said he was going to do, demonstrated FANTASTIC follow up skills and convinced me that he has the patience of Job. He helped my elderly mom by remoting into her computer. He explained everything to her, step-​by-​step. She was able to follow his well spoken directions and he explained everything he was doing. I will DEFINITELY use them again and will recommend them to anyone in need of computer support.

They totally saved our butts at the office yesterday. Our system had blown up (eventually found out it was due to conflicting ip addresses– of which we have about 100, not mapped), and we were dead in the water. I wish I could remember his name, but the guy who came out was calm friendly and competent, and he took the time to isolate the problem– the needle in the haystack. They came out within an hour of finding out we were in trouble. Now we’re hiring them to do some follow-​up mapping and making our system more robust and safe.
Great company! Call them!

Tony, Mitch, Ryan, Scott and Lauren are AWESOME! I have been working with them for years. They are extremely responsive, efficient and considerate of your time and $$.
When we moved our office, it was such a comfort to have them help us with our technology needs. Making sure all the computers are set up right and phones, Internet, etc. switch over all at the same time is nerve-​racking, but Tony and the guys were there every step of the way.
They’ve helped us with everything from computer viruses, setting up new computers, etc. I don’t know what we would do without them!

I heard back from the owner, who offered to try to make the repairs again. I appreciate their willingness to try again.
I still can’t recommend their service, but I do commend a business that cares enough to try and make things right.
