Great liquor in downtown Austin. For its size, a wide selection and they always carry my favorite craft beer

This is a great little liquor store. They are helpful and the prices are very competitive. When I ask for recommendations they always turn out well. I recommend them highly.

It’s a liquor store… downtown! OK, so it’s pretty small and wouldn’t be someplace I’d go out of my way to visit, but I can always find what I need and the service I’ve received has been helpful and friendly. If you live downtown on the West side, it’s super convenient. Although there are a million places in the area to buy a drink, sometimes you don’t want to pay for $ 10 martinis and would prefer to have a quiet drink at home!

My choice store when I am downtown. Great selection of liquor and wine. Everyone that works here is extremely knowledgable and nice. I definitely reccomend stopping by next time you are at Hut’s or on west sixth.

I’ve been frequenting Favorite ever since I was of age. It was the first liquor store my parents visited when we moved here in 1988. The staff has always been extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Compared to the corporate big box stores, there’s really not that much of a price difference. Plus, here you know you’re part of a 70 year tradition that’s seen Austin through thick and thin. I’ve recommended the store to every single one of my friends who have moved to Austin and they all agree: you don’t stay in business for over 70 years unless you’re doing something right. All my business has gone and will continue to go to Favorite.

This is THE PLACE if you like supporting local businesses! Favorite is the oldest liquor store in the city of Austin, sitting in the same location that it first opened its doors in back in 1939. It is a family business, which was founded by Sammie Joseph and is now run by his Son, Sammie Joseph Jr.
Unlike Specs, Favorite liquor is the epitome of «Keeping Austin Weird». Specs came to town a few years back with a mission to turn the Austin liquor business upside down, putting many local liquor stores out of business. You may save a couple of bucks by driving out to the suburbs and shopping for your liquor among a bunch of soccer moms; however, if you are someone that can see what makes Austin such a special place, Favorite Liquor is the place for you.
I highly recommend that you try Favorite liquor. Sammie Jr. among with a few other knowledgeable employees are always there to answer questions and make recommendations. Favorite is conveniently located on the Corner of 6^th and West Ave, in the middle of the booming West 6^th St. district.
