Factory Mattress – North Austin

My boyfriend and I came to this store last week to purchase a mattress. Initially, the service was fine, but our experience quickly went downhill.
We had not intended on purchasing a mattress on that trip — we were just shopping for prices. We were the only customers in the store so we got full attention. We found a mattress at a great deal and our salesman, Andre, said we could put it on layaway, which we agreed to do. About 2 minutes after talking about the layaway option, he told us that we owed the full price of the mattress. Confused, we asked if layaway was still available. He said it was and asked how much we wanted to put down. We told him $ 200. He then turned to his colleague and asked him to ring us up for the full price of the mattress.
At this point I didn’t know if this man was just lost or the inspiration for Dory from «Finding Nemo.» In any case, my boyfriend and I, again, reiterated that we wanted to do a layaway plan.
That was the first kerfluffle.
The second came in determining a delivery date. We requested that our mattress be delivered on Wednesday, June 1^st. Andre checks with his colleague to make sure he inputs the correct date. As he’s wrapping up, he confirms that our delivery date is Tuesday, May 31. We correct him and say that we wanted it for June 1^st. Andre inputs the right date.
The next day, when my boyfriend went to pay off the rest of the mattress, the store said Wednesday was no longer available. My boyfriend told them he would call back with an alternate date. He calls back a few hours later. They tell him that there was a mix up and they can deliver June 1^st. Excellent.
Except a few hours later I get a call that there had been a mix up with the mix up and the mattress would not be able to be delivered on June 1^st.
So I mean. Ok. I’m not sure if these people are operating in an alternative dimension where our signals are getting crossed. I’m not sure if my boyfriend and I are the victims of a big prank and Ed McMann is going to deliver our mattress with a big check of money (and preferably with a pool boy riding atop the mattress, drinking wine and eating grapes.)
Likely, they just deliver poor service. Mattress stores are a dime a dozen and prices are comparable across the board. There is no reason to purposely seek out this store. I am happy to have a new mattress. I am even happier that I don’t have to worry about purchasing a new one for 8 years. And I am thrilled that I will never give my business to this store again.

I called about a box spring 4″ was told they had one. Drove over after work, spent less than 10 minutes in the store. Great service, prefect price, and it came with a ten year warranty!
I will shop for my daughters bed frame later this week!

So… I hate to shop, especially for large items I have to haul away from or into a place, but I was blown away by the attention and service at Factory Mattress.
I bought my first queen size mattress, box spring, and headboard all from Factory Mattress for multiple reasons.
1. Michael S. was a hands on salesman who gave me the facts about the quality of each bed as well as the history behind the products.
2. The headboard/​frame happened to be less than what I found online (Craigslist, Offer Up) for that particular headboard, so I lucked out by buying it straight from the store.
3. They have the lowest local delivery prices in Austin.
Michael was friendly and succinct and he helped me find the best mattress for me within my price range from the moment I walked into the store. And the guys who delivered (and put my frame and headboard together) were on time and had everything ready to go in less than half an hour.
I don’t write reviews often, but I felt compelled to share the flawless experience I had with Factory Mattress. If you live in, or are moving to, Austin and need a mattress or frame/​headboard, you will not be disappointed.

This is a legit local business. They’ve been slingin’ mattresses since before the Californian’s came to town. Got me a Tempur adjustable. Best decision I ever made.

Easy, quick, friendly service without being pushy, good prices, and good selection make this a good first (and probably last) stop for a new mattress.

We did our usual drive around town for the best mattress deal and ended coming back to Factory Mattress to buy our mattress.
We needed a guest bedroom mattress replacement for our 5 year old, seldom used, guest bedroom. The mattress we had in there was too firm. During December, when I had a bad cold, I slept in there for about a week and knew then, we were putting guests on a marble slab basically. That can be a good thing if you don’t want company to stay long though :)
Justin at Factory Mattress was the first person to really LISTEN to our criteria… We need a softer mattress that only gets slept on 6 – 10 times a year. We don’t want the top of the line, or the bottom but a happy medium in quality and price. We got exactly what we wanted in price, softness and quality for what it will be used for. We are totally happy. And a big plus, we bought on a Saturday afternoon with Sunday delivery. Even a bigger plus, they email you a link so you can watch the deliver truck (via GPS) on it’s route. You can run errands galore and know approximately when you’re delivery will be done, plus the website updates with an estimated time after each delivery. That is excellent. I wish other companies did stuff like this. If we need another mattress or other bedding, we’ll be talking to Justin at Factory Mattress again.

My wife is experiencing post-​pregnancy related issues with her back which were exacerbated by our previous pillow top mattress, so we decided to bite the bullet and get a Tempur-​Pedic bed. We did quite a bit of research and found that pricing was uniform across the different mattress chains. We went to location at Gateway and had a great experience. The store manager, Brian, was knowledgeable and patient while we tried out several different models to find the best combination of comfort and firmness. We chose to purchase the same evening due to Brian’s service and the 0% interest promotion running at the time. Even better, they had the Contour Rhapsody Luxe model bed and Breeze dual-​cooling pillows in stock and were able to deliver the following morning at 11AM. As an added bonus, the delivery guys were friendly and offered to haul off our old mattress and box springs for free.
It’s been about a week since the bed was delivered and my wife has already noticed a reduction in back pain and she also noted that I’m snoring considerably less. We highly recommend both the bed and that you go see Brian at the Gateway Factory Mattress location for your next bed.

The delivery was beyond fantastic with polite, prompt and efficient service.

As promised (or threatened)… here’s the followup review post-​delivery.
Best delivery anywhere. They called the night before with a three hour window. This morning, they called to tell us they were running early and gave us a 15 minute heads-​up. Arrived by 10 AM and out just a moment after 10:30. Three mattresses delivered. No sign left behind of their visit. Super friendly and efficient crew, We were about to put the bed skirts on the beds and they basically did the work for us.
Highly recommended.

I used to work for this company over five years ago. I had never been to this location before. My fiancé and I walked in on a Saturday a few minutes before they were supposed to open. Sharon D’Amalfi helped us find a great mattress set quickly. It was in our price range, excellent quality and they were offering 24 month no interest financing. We got an Instamatic frame (the nicest one they offer — lifetime warranty), a mattress protector (also with warranty) and same day delivery for just over $ 1100.
The delivery drivers arrived in the middle of the two hour window we were quoted and they called 15 minutes before to let us know that we were next. This was very helpful because we were moving that day.
Four months later and we are still very happy with our purchase. The bed is extremely comfortable and there are no issues. Thank you Sharon so much for your friendly and fast help. Everything was great!

Factory Mattress is very responsive to customers, and they honor the ten-​year warranty! We purchased a king pillow-​top mattress set almost four years ago and it was too soft. We rolled toward the middle of it. I contacted the company online, and received a phone call from Jorge the same day. He told me they would swap out the mattress and box springs, and told me to ask for Sharon, the manager at the Gateway store. Sharon called me the next day and we made plans to meet her at the store the following afternoon. Sharon was kind and accommodating. We decided on a mattress set that was about $ 300 more than our current mattress. We paid the difference, and the next day received the new mattress and the delivery men took away the old one. We had the best night’s sleep in years!

We shopped there and had a specific mattress in mind. We found one that we liked better so we ended up buying that one. It was a clearance mattress so there would be no return. We had it for a few weeks and I couldn’t sleep on it. It was too soft. Since it was a clearance I didn’t think I had any option. I went in to ask them for options and was told immediately that they would fix the problem and exchange our mattress. This made a world of difference. We found the mattress we wanted and it was a done deal. Sharon was so helpful as was Lenny.

Mattress shopping is fun because you don’t have to continuously stand on your feet and carry things around. Instead, you get to publicly lay on a bunch of comfy beds and almost fall asleep while doing so.
The not so fun part… seeing the price tag in front of the mattress you just laid on.
At Factory mattress, you don’t feel that way. You feel like you’re getting a good deal for your money. I think that’s why my family has always come here. I came in because all of the advertisements for red tag sales. Plus they sell tempurpedic mattresses.
They help you find exactly what you’re looking for and their prices are better than what I’ve seen at other mattress stores. Not to mention the delivery was scheduled two days from the date of purchase (would have been one day but they were booked up the day prior). The delivery guys called me an hour ahead of time so I could know when to break away from my office. They arrived within the 15 minute window they gave me and took my old mattress and brought in the new all in a matter of 8 minutes. Impressed, I think so.
Come to Factory Mattress to make this a painless process.

These guys are awesome at what they do. I can be a pretty high maintenance customer and they just rolled with it. I must have called the store 5 times prior to even shopping there and they were most helpful every time with no complaints. I finally came in on the Sunday of 4^th of July weekend asking for some guidance (even though I had already done my research) I had my eye on the Tempurpedic cloud supreme based on what my friends had told me about it. They asked me questions to make sure it was a good fit for me – and even gave me a comparable option which was the new Sealy Optimum series. They were very patient as I took my time literally feeling out my options in the store. They also have great sales all of the time which is why I was originally attracted – their 4^th of July sale was great timing for me. Ultimately I am very pleased with their customer service but even more pleased with my uninterrupted sleep!
I will certainly be sending my friends and coworkers there when it’s their time.

I am so excited about my new mattress from Factory Mattress! The sales guy was super helpful and knew his information about every mattress in the store. I ended up going with a Sterns and Foster Lux Plush mattress and I can’t wait to have it delivered. I shopped around at other mattress stores and found that Factory Mattress had the best prices for the quality. I would definitely recommend Factory Mattress to all my friends!

I purchased a full mattress set for our son here for $ 299 and scheduled a pick-​up for a Saturday three weeks later. The saleslady, Sharon, was great at the time and she even threw in a free waterproof mattress protector.
I called them the day before our scheduled pick-​up to inquire whether we could get it a day early. When I purchased the set, Sharon had indicated that it might be ready the day before and it happened to be more convenient. I spoke with Roger. He said my order was down as a twin mattress set. I told him I definitely purchased a full considering we’d had the bedding at home for months already. He said I would have to wait until Sharon was in the next day, and informed me that I got a good deal on the twin. Huh? I told him I wasn’t interested in what was/wasn’t a good deal, I ordered a full mattress set and I wanted my order figured out. He raised his voice and VERY rudely cut me off saying, «I can’t help you. Call back tomorrow and talk to Sharon.»
The next day it was discovered that she had ordered the wrong set for me in the wrong size completely. Luckily, they had the set I wanted sitting there in the store, but if they hadn’t, we would have had one disappointed little boy. Obviously things were straightened out in the end, but I will NEVER work with Roger and ONLY with Sharon if we take our business there again in the future.
