Even Flow Veterinary Herbal & Acupuncture

We’re so glad to have found Clay. I trust his great judgement and compassionate care. In Feb., our 9 year old Scottie, Dixie, came in from the yard with a terrible limp — left rear leg. A visit to the usual vet also revealed compromised kidney function. Options given were canned kidney RX diet, anti-​inflammatories/​pain meds for leg and cruciate ligament surgery. We’ve done the CL surgery on another dog — eventually both legs. But, I wanted to do something proactive to try to heal the leg and prevent the right rear from also tearing. I went looking for alternatives and found Clay. We chose to use acupuncture, herbs, and some dietary tweaks recommended by Clay. Dixie’s leg recovered so successfully that in July she hiked trails in Taos ski valley with us. Hiking a steep 2.5 miles every other day on 4 inch legs was a challenge. She’d get a bit sore but, after a day of rest and the herbs, she’d bounce back ready for more. Pretty great for a 9 year old! With Clay’s dietary recommendations her kidney condition is under control and a side benefit was that her flaky skin totally cleared!

Dr. Bernard is the best! He was one of our regular vets before he received his training in acupuncture and now he sees several of our cats at our home for various issues. He is a wealth of information and is so helpful in the difficult cases. He truly cares about each one of his patients and follows up with me on the days that he knows that I take them to a different specialist just to find out the latest in the treatment plan. He is great with our cats and can get them to sit relatively still during the treatment session despite them acting like, well, cats. We have seen tremendous improvement with our cats with arthritis and have seen improvement with other issues, as well. Dr. Bernard is a wonderful, caring man who is such a pleasure to work with. I am so thankful that our cats get treatment from him, because they truly deserve the best and he brings it!

Dr. Bernard has done an amazing job with my dog. Dakota (7.5 yrs) was diagnosed with moderate-​severe bilateral hip dysplasia in July. She was in a severe amount of pain requiring tramadol and vetprofen (medications she would have to take for life). According to the ER vet– she required bilateral hip surgery. After reviewing what the procedures would entail, I chose a different route. Dr. Bernard came to my house and evaluated my dog and completed her first treatment that day. I immediately noticed a change in her mobility and comfort level. We switched her from the pain medications to Chinese herbs which have significantly less side effects (possible loose stool vs. GI tract, kidney, liver complications). Now she takes those twice a day without any issues and we have an acupuncture session once a month. Dakota has not exhibited any signs of pain since starting the acupuncture/​Chinese herbs. She has resumed running without any issues and has returned to her old, playful self. I can not thank Dr. Bernard enough for helping my girl!

Clay is an incredible vet and person. He succeeded where other vets failed in relieving our beloved 19-​year old min-​pin (Cooter) of arthritic pain. While I consider myself progressive and open-​minded, I frankly did not hold out much hope in the prospect of acupuncture helping my best canine friend. To my surprise, 3 days after the first treatment, Cooter quit obsessing with his arthritic paw and began walking around without any sign of pain. This lasted for months, with only one follow-​up. If it were my mom he treated, I would’ve chalked it up to his good looks or the placebo effect, but this was my dog, and though he’s smart, I don’t think he’d heard or of the hype about acupuncture. Dr. Bernard made house calls both times, and he was compassionate, caring, and he has the best bedside manner – for canines and humans alike – I’ve ever witnessed. I can’t recommend him enough!

We are SO incredibly happy to have found Clay. His level of compassion is unmatched in my experience over the years with vets. I love his holistic approach. All four of our dogs LOVE him! Very easy to get an appointment AND he comes to your house-​how cool is that??? He truly cares about treating the whole patient and is very thorough. I just can’t say enough good things about this wonderful vet. We can see such a difference pre and post treatment.

I called Dr. Bernard today and we spoke at length about my hurt cat. I was already giving her natural remedies and he recommended to continue with that and give it a few more days. I appreciated that he wasn’t gung-​ho «I must see her immediately.» I think so many times vets can be more concerned with making money than caring for your pet. He will get my business, if needed and any other vet he recommends will too.

Dr. Bernard came to my home within 2 hours of contacting him regarding treatment of my Golden for newly diagnosed cancer. He is a deeply caring, compassionate and knowledgeable veterinarian and believes strongly in holistic care. He made instant friends with Katyanne and the rest of the family pets. He is very very kind. He was helpful in explaining the options and what to monitor her for and when to call. He advocates a using a holistic approach to pet health and restoration along with appropriate conventional medicine and used an herbal formula and acupuncture treatment on his visit. He is a mobile vet to provide care in the least stress environment for your pet. He is very open to considering all possibilities of treatment modalities and is willing to consult with other practitioners to determine the best approach for the best outcomes. A very caring young doctor! and we feel he is part of our family now. An outstanding communicator. He keeps in close touch by email and phone to keep updated on your pets progress.
