I had been going to Dr Pampe for years. For the first 10 – 12 years everything was great but once he got on the vp program he just didn’t have time for the average person who wanst willing to pay$ 1500 a year out of pocket for his time. I really enjoyed my initial treatment by dr pampe and his staff but after my last 2 visits I decided to find another provider that treats me like a patient ideas of someone that will pad his bank account.

I first went to Dr. Pampe in 1983 and have never needed another GP since. If you are lucky enough to get Dr. Pampe as your GP count your lucky stars. He has since moved to MDVIP and I couldn’t be happier. He will give you frank and good advice and really doesn’t practice defensive medicine. He always knows the best specialist and has the best bedside manner going. Thanks for all the great help over the years.

Dr. Pampe has been my primary care doctor for 7 years. The last time I went to see him, he mocked me for trying to self diagnose a problem I’ve had for years. He left the room in the middle of the visit, I thought to grab something, but he never came back. now he wants me to pay $ 1600 a year to see him? I wouldn’t pay a dime to see him again. I can’t imagine who will join his «VIP» health club.

This Dr. is LAZY, arrogant, and very disrespectful. I had a couple of visits with him over the last year and received better care from Urgent Care Clinics than here. He doesn’t get out of his chair and if anything takes more than a flick of his pen then he will refer you to a Specialist.
I was Hospitalized for about 2 weeks and all of my health reports were going to his Office. Needless to say, he never showed up one time to the Hospital to check on me. He also showed zero interest in any sort of after care. Fortunately, I had an awesome Hospital Doctor who I have since switched my Primary Care over to.
I also saw him yelling at his Staff, which I thought was extremely Unprofessional. I really don’t know how the people in that Office put up with this Clown. The pictures in his hallway of a bunch of Celebrity pictures with signatures were really cheesy and did not impress me one bit.
This Guy needs to retire. I am assuming he must have been a decent Doctor maybe 10 – 20 years ago, but I think the money went to his head.

Dr. Pampe AND his staff are the absolute worst. The first time I went to visit, it was the day after the superbowl and he was 1.5 hours late. He showed up and looked like he had been drinking more than his fair share of alcohol because his face was all blotchy and red. And no, this wasn’t some kind of condition or disease because unfortunately, I went back to see him several times after that and his skin condition was normal.
He then joins some «health» brigade and sends my boyfriend and I informational packets in the mail to join whatever he’s promoting at a low, low cost of $ 800. Are you serious?
So just now, I tried to make an appointment to come in because I either have strep or bronchitis and he doesn’t have any appointments until Tuesday. Are you kidding me? I asked if there was anyone else I could see and they told me no. How convenient because I’m pretty sure my boyfriend has gone in to see someone else SEVERAL times, so this was an out and out lie.

I have been going to see Dr. Pampe as long as I can remember. In the beginning he was a great doctor– really listened and made you feel like he was genuinely concerned about your well being.
Recently my husband and I started meeting with a nutritionist for our triathlon training and she wanted to have blood work completed to see where we may be deficient. She said we could just go to our GP and have the tests run, and then we would go over the results with her. I called to schedule an appointment for a Friday at 8:15am because I would need to be fasting.
I arrived on time (actually 5min early) and immediately checked in. I had an address change, so we got all of that taken care of and then I was called back 25 min later to speak with Dr. Pampe’s MDVIP liaison. I had no idea this was coming– it was like a time share sale. Never had I received a phone call or anything in the mail regarding this change in his practice, and she was essentially pushing me to sign up that moment. From what I understand, he is decreasing his practice to 500 patients to give them better service, you have a patient portal that you can log into regarding results and supposedly live chats with Dr. Pampe, and 1 large physical. OH– and if you travel out of town, Dr. Pampe will refer you to someone else in this network. All for approx $ 900‑1800 a year. WOW! And after that, you cover what your insurance doesn’t. I felt like I had to muscle my way out of the office without signing up and sat back in the waiting room.
Soon after 9am, I was FINALLY called back to go to the room. The nurse was great– very fun and nice. And then the PA came in to see what tests I wanted run. She almost seemed surprised. When she called the phlebotomist in, he scoffed and was so irritated that he had to write all these tests down and research how they were done. He left the room to research but I could hear them all talking about it in the area outside my room. Shortly after, Dr. Pampe came in unhappy…
«In my 30 years, I have never run any of these tests…» «I don’t want to run some tests on a fad…» «Who is this person???» After I explain that she is a professor at SMU, runs her own nutritionist business and is on the Texas board of nutrition, he wants to call her. He literally pulls out his cell phone and proceeds to call her to question her. Then he tells me that these tests will cost me in excess of $ 3,000 and my insurance probably won’t cover it.
My favorite part of the visit? When he asked me why my parents haven’t gotten in touch with him about the MDVIP program. I am a 32 year old woman who is married and no longer a dependent of my parents and their medical choices are none of my business. I cannot believe he had the nerve to bring that up to me while acting so cocky calling my nutritionist.
After arguing back and forth– I finally said I was leaving and wouldn’t you know it– they charged my insurance an office visit.
I contacted my coach and nutritionist, and I can’t even list the number of doctors and labs that run these tests. I am literally going to one on Friday who runs both the normal labs and all of these in depth labs and it will cost me $ 159. Yep– $ 159!!!
I would NOT recommend going to Dr. Pampe and joining his time share doctor program. I wouldn’t pay a penny to join… Maybe he will take this extra time to update his practice and learn maybe some things aren’t just «fads».

I initially found Eugene Pampe from Unilocal (long time lurker-​first time poster) back in December of last year. My family and I recently had moved up from San Antonio and in to the SW side of town. Seeing that I am not a Hypochondriac nor is anyone else in my family, I just needed someone close and with good reviews. However, I really wish I would have researched a lot better.
I never like to see a Doctor to begin with an typically when I do, I already know what’s wrong with me. I visited with Eugene on two occasions for minor things. Both times I visited with him, he simply agreed with my own diagnosis and prescribed medications. He never really delved very deep in to my health, nor really showed any type of care whatsoever. I really didn’t care either, because 100% of the time I just needed a prescribed medication to cure my ailments. Anything that took him getting out of his chair or spending more than five minutes with me resulted in him telling me to see a Specialist.
Fast forward 7 months later, my Wife had recently undergone a C section and was being treated by an excellent OB in town. She had additional follow-​up surgery for another issue by another excellent Doctor. My Wife who suffers from ailments brought on by severe trauma in her Childhood needed a refill on Medication, that she was unable to obtain due to her Primary Doctor being out of town. I suggested she go see Eugene – HUGE mistake.
My Wife arrived to a very Professional Female staff who were very kind, patient, and helpful. She was escorted to a private room and was told a Student Chaperone would be provided. Shortly thereafter, Eugene strolled in, closed the door behind him (NO CHAPERONE) and plopped down in his seat. He then proclaimed arrogantly, «So uh, you are here for what? A Follow-​Up? Is that really why you are here?» He then proceeded to lean forward and offer up some sexual innuendos in relation to her recent Surgery. My Wife, already taken back by his unprofessional demeanor at this point; sat there completely dumbfounded. My Wife remained professional and completely disregarded his sexual innuendos (which later she believes is what set him off) she then explained that she had surgery recently and everything is fine. She needed a refill on medication she was not able to obtain from her Doctor. At this point Eugene flipped out and yelled at my Wife for wasting his time. He flung the private rooms door open and proceeded to scream at all the Female Staff for sending a Patient to see him for a refill on medication that he did not initially prescribe. He announced to the entire office what medication it is and ensured everyone heard. At this point my Wife is pretty much speechless from humiliation and holding the tears back to save what little face she has left. He then scribbled the prescription, threw it at her and stormed out of the room. All the while the supposed private room door hanging wide open. My Wife quickly collected her belongings and remaining pride up off the floor and vacated as quickly as possible.
My Wife sits here with me as I type this and in some small way feels vindicated. She feels vindicated in knowing that she has HOPEFULLY saved some other poor Woman the humiliation and all out disrespect that she went through. My Wife is a proud non-​feminist, but after this incident… she now understands why Women are feminists. Eugene is a chauvinist with ZERO respect for Women, let alone his PATIENT! Clearly we will never spend another dime at Eugene’s office and we greatly implore you to pass the word and stay away.
This is no Doctor, this is just an Animal named Eugene who takes his frustrations out on Women. I sincerely feel bad for this Animals Wife (probably his 3^rd or 4^th), Mother, and Children.

I have known Dr. Pampe for 25 years since I was 3 years old when we moved to Austin, remember when my sister and I were little he would always say we had CareBears in our ears :) Through the years he has had N.P.‘s and P.A.‘s working at his practice so you can usually get an appointment on the same day you are trying to come in, and Tues/Thursday’s they are opened late and I think Saturday’s they may be open in the mornings.
I have never had any issues with the front office or his staff being unprofessional or rude– always very professional.
And I remember one time I was having major stomach issues where they later on thought I had a stomach ulcer, but I remember Dr. Pampe personally called me the next day to check on me, he is an amazing MD.

Ok, so in all fairness the place I’m comparing this to is ARC.
Plus one star for being able to get me in same day.
Plus one star for phone etiquette.
Plus two stars for the Nurse Practitioner with the tattoo on his forearm. You can’t fake genuinely caring about patients the way he does.
Plus one star for a quick diagnoses (influenza — boo).
Minus one star for general etiquette. The receptionist and office clerk were gossiping about a unsatisfied patient who was a huge pain probably because he was a lawyer. I don’t like lawyers either, but they shouldn’t be complaining about patients that way while there are other patients waiting in the lobby that can hear them. Also, the doctor that did see me conducted half of the patient interview with the door open. I thought that was strange.
I’ll go back. They’re close to my house and I found them to be much more welcoming than ARC.
