Ellis & Salazar Body Shop

I had someone change lanes into me, jacking up the passenger’s side rear quarter panel and rear bumper. And of course, they had no insurance (or even a license)…but that’s another story.
My insurance sent me to Ellis & Salazar to get the estimate, but made it clear I was free to pick anyone I wanted to repair the vehicle. These guys have been around for quite a while, so I decided to go with them.
Long story short, they did what they said they were going to in the time they said it would take. Plus, they kept me updated on the progress of the repair during that time. When I went to pick up my car, I was quite happy with the results. The final bill was higher than the estimate, but that was explained to me during the first update they gave me. But that’s why it’s called an «estimate».
A body shop is one of those businesses you really don’t want to have to use (because it usually means something bad happened), but these guys did the job they promised and in my opinion did it well. The only reason I didn’t give them five stars was because there were some muddy footprints left behind on the driver’s side floor mat.

I’ve been using Ellis and Salazar for more than 10 years. I don’t like talking to them, not because of what they do or their customer service, but because it’s always due to an unfortunate incident on my end.
Long ago in another lifetime, I actually did body work and understand how absolutely time consuming it is and how difficult it is to do complex things like panel matching and repairing compound curves. I could find defects in almost any piece of bodywork done by other shops, so I assume that I’d have to live with that sort of thing when they repaired my vehicles.
I was wrong. I’ve had them work on vehicles that are 10+ years old and if the paint is in good shape, I can’t find the blends. I can’t find alternate textures and I can’t find any evidence of panel based repairs. No overspray. Anywhere. And they’ve repaired lots of spots where other shops get sloppy and cut corners.
I can’t say that you can absolutely do the same thing on cars that have faded paint, but on the vehicles that I’ve had repaired, the results are outstanding.
I’ve also had newer (1 – 2 year old) vehicles repaired. Even with a particularly difficult color (silver metallic), I can’t see the blend. I can’t see it regardless of sunlight, I can’t find alternate textures, and I can’t find alternate metal flake patterns. They are that good.
They’ve worked with me when my insurer would only authorize non-​OEM panels — and when they don’t fit right, they’ll do the work again (and go through insurance again).
And I can say that not every experience has been perfect over there. I have found one mistake. And guess what, they fixed it (it was quite a bit of work) without any question or requiring any pressure on my part.
They’ve earned my business in perpetuity. This is the body shop that you want if you’re picky about your vehicles.

major suck job! I brought my fiat here after being backed into because of my insurance company. Estimate $ 1,500 dollars and ended up being over $ 4,000.00. Idiot Terry totally took advantage and said it would look like it was when it was new. They forgot to paint the grill of the car and will not call me back. I am forced to call my insurance company an tell them to quit using them.

After 2 hail storms in one weekend, I researched body shops in Houston and Austin that would not replace my roof (like Toyota…) and found this hidden gem! The staff was very pleasant, fair and accommodative, not to mention meticulous!!! My insurance cut me a check for $ 4500 worth of damage, they found so much more, and dealt directly with the insurance company for the difference, but they informed me it would be there an extra week! Not a big deal because, the insurance company said it usually takes 3 weeks for a job like this, and it took Ellis & Salazar only 2 weeks!!! My 1 year old 4Runner looks brand new again… I would highly recommend this body shop to everyone!

I wish I could rate ZERO stars! My husband had an accident and took our truck to Ellis & Salazar for an estimate. They told us that the repairs would be just over $ 1,300 … but on the page requiring signature, the authorization amount was left BLANK! When my husband brought this to their attention, they said «We haven’t even done tear down yet. We always find additional structural and mechanical damage that needs to be added to the work order» … We told them that we would authorize a work order just for the tear down so we could get a firm estimate, but they refused. I guess they are in the habit of asking their customers to sign a blank check so that they can jack up the price! We took the truck to Jeff”s Auto Body on North Lamar and he gave us a price guarantee of $ 1,100. Jeff did an excellent job and charged us exactly what he estimated.

This place is awful! I’m sure if it’s just a little bit of work they may do ok. I got T boned with my Nissan Frontier. The body shop removed the rubber seal around the drivers side rear door to do the repair. Rather then to replace the seal they just put the old seal back — now the door seal has fallen off because the clips can not hold the torn rubber. I’m sure they charged the insurance company and kept the money! They had to remove the old bumper to replace it. In doing so they had to remove a piece of plastic for the bumper step, which they messed up, the clips would not go back in. When I looked at the truck and pointed it out they said it was not part of the accident– even thought they ruined the piece! I had to call my insurance company and tell them what this body shop did before the body shop would replace it. Again I’m sure the Ellis and Salazar charged State Farm but did not buy the piece just to get more money from me! The paint on my front passenger fender started flaking off as well. I did two claims on my truck, you would think they would do everything right! I advise everyone to go somewhere else!

My family has utilized Ellis and Salazar Body Shop for all of our auto body repairs in the past several years and with good reason. The professionalism demonstrated by all of their employees is a refreshing change from today’s business norm. I would be remiss if I did not bring special attention to their office staff. Not only were they prompt with all information needed to smooth each transaction, but their Great sense of humor was well received. Thank you Karen, Theresa, and Greg for being Good people.

I took my van in for repairs on JUNE 16, 2014 after a woman hit me in a parking lot, then that same day, a tree fell on my van. (seriously!) Today is JULY 7, 2014. No one has called me yet from this body shop to let me know what repairs will need to be done. So I called them today. They are saying that NO REPAIRS have been started… and my van may be totaled. They’ll let me know tomorrow after they hear from the insurance company. When I suggested that 22 days seemed a bit excessive just to assess the damage, the service representative made excuses… it took 3 days to get it into the body shop and they had to wait to hear from the insurance company, etc. My insurance representative has been very prompt with calls to me and letters informing me of what’s happening, so the fault lies with Ellis and Salazar. WAY SLOW and NO APOLOGY. I will update after all is said and done. But right now, I’m VERY UNHAPPY with these people.

Took my toyota sequoia in for a new door handle on the back hatch which was broken and needed to be repaired. First I went to the Toyota dealership in Round Rock and they quoted me $ 290.00 for the labor cost and $ 90 for the part.. I provided Ellis and Salazar the part I purchased from toyota and Ellis and Salazar did the work for a lot cheaper and the door handle works fantastic. Thanks for a job well done. This was not my first experience with them. They have done quality work for my family for a long time. Im new to Unilocal and they deserved a good review for this last great experience.

I brought my van there for repairing and adjusting the rear doors. They were nice enough and very helpful but thats all the good I can say. The estimator looked at my van with a worried look, went and got a tatooed «expert» who hee hawed around the doors telling me how hard it would be, then they said the adjustment would take 4 hours! I knew all along that by simply loosening up the hinge bolts you can adjust them in any direction very easily but i didnt let on…
Then the expert started telling me how hard it would be to match the faded white paint. Avoid this place at all costs, its now obvious how they afford to pay for the barrage of TV and radio ads.

Yeah, a few times, I’ve jacked up my ride.
E&S do an excellent job fixing up the stuff which you and I, my generally-​careful-​but-​sometimes-​too-​impatient-​to-​get-​through-​apartment-​complex-​gates friends, have jacked. In addition to working with a variety of insurers, they can drive your carless butt a reasonable distance to and from their shop. And — they warranty their work for what. A year? A few? I forget. In any case, they know how to both glowingly paint and undent your jacked up vehicle. Sometimes they’ll even fix some small stuff you know you jacked up all by yourself — without charging you!
Inconceivable!
No job is too big, no hailstone is too big, no drove-​into-​the-​back-​of-​an-​SUV-​at-​a-​standstill-​in-​front-​of-​you-​with-​your-​puny-​Honda-​so-​you-​jacked-​up-​your-​hood is too big. E&S got it goin’ on, even if they do pronounce «Salazar» — «suhLAYzer» — all jacked up.

I went in for an estimate on a possible door repainting. Someone had side swiped my car and didn’t want to involve insurance. I had gotten one quote that was really high, and gone for a second opinion. Teresa asked one of the guys to look at my door to see if it could be buffed out.
They buffed out the scratches and didn’t charge me anything. My best friend had recommended them because of the awesome work they had done on her car, and man, I am so going back when I need body work again.
